Chapter 34“There it is.” Sean pointed down to the waterfall. He and Tom reached it before the RCMP helicopter. They circled above and came in as low as they could. “I don't see them.”
Tom landed in a meadow close by and hiked back to the falls. When they reached the bank of the river, Sean scanned the area. “Shelby … Kaela …” he yelled.
“Sean, over here.” Tom called.
He joined Tom and saw two pairs of sandals and two red-stained t-shirts lying on a bush. He grabbed the shirts, stared at them, and sank to his knees. “No …” he shook his head and tears sprung to his eyes.
Tom leaned down and took a shirt from him. “You're thinking these are blood stains. They're not. Look at the bush they were on.”
