I sat my parents down and told them about Alex, Laxton, and Myrtle. I smiled as I told them about my progress with Alex. They were surprised that he has not marked me yet but I can see that they respected him a little more for that. My mum cried when she heard about Laxton and Myrtle while my dad was holding back his anger, his fists clenched.
I took their hands in mine.
“I’m ok, I’m really ok. Alex helped me through this and… I’m planning to take the potion soon. Devlin said she is in favour of that too. I know that there is a lot riding on this but… I’m ok. I’m strong, right?” I tried to convince them, trying to not sound like I’m also convincing myself.
My mum couldn’t stop crying and leaned forward to hug me.
