HIS OBSESSION

Ariana sat lame eyed in the living room with her parents staring at her but with different expressions. Her Father was furious and her mother silently stared with pleading eyes. She wasn't sure if the eye was to her or to her Father to reconsider what he had asked of her. " You will either marry Antonio or you might as well be dead" he spoke furiously his veins bulging. "Anna, just go with the plan your dad proposed" Perla pleaded. Ariana Scoffed. Of course she was going to agree with her husband. " He's not my real dad" Ariana spoke facing Perla " Why should an engagement that wasn't arranged for me be forced on me". She grumbled. That was the last thread for Francis as he delivered a hot slap on her face and he began to scream and curse at the top of his voice " You ungrateful wretch, How dare you talk to me like that, do you know how much I spent raising you?. Is this how you repaye or do you want to keep eating for free without earning your keep. You worthless child" He turned to Perla barking " I told you she would lead up to no good in the future". Ariana stared at the man in front of her who she had grown to know as a father, yet he never acted as one. He always made sure she knew she was worthless, always gave her less things on a good day and sometimes nothing at all, yet expected her to somehow produce the world. She had once thought that maybe If she did well he would appreciate her , so she worked tirelessly always aimed for the top, graduated as the best Interior designer of her set, paid her way to get her second degree in Architecture secretly, yet this so called Father had still belittled her and called her worthless piece of trash that would be nothing without him. She would be better of married anyways. It was just a marriage after all. She sighed in surrender, she was tired, If her fate was to get married to that arrogant fat man then she would. She didn't have the strength to argue with this set of people again. Antonio could marry her but he would never touch her body till he kissed his grave. After a moment of silence, she finally spoke. " When is the marriage holding?". Finally a bright smile appeared on Francis face "This is the Ariana I know, it's good you came to your senses I was ready to hit it back in". "We'll start with the engagement ceremony next two weeks and then the marriage" he continued as he say back in his arm chair. " Alright then, great talk. I need to prepare myself to become a bride. If you'll excuse me I need to go back to my room.". "You may leave were done with you" Perla spoke while facing her husband " Delilah is coming back from Australia next week isn't it, The Khan family will be coming for her hand right?.". "Yes, I scheduled her an appointment with a good dermatologist overseas. She should get her skin treated before she gets back. She has to look stunning ". Perla giggled. Does she need much our Delilah is so pretty. Ariana didn't hear much as she rushed upstairs afraid that her tears might drop in front of this heartless couple. But she did hear the basics not that it mattered in anyway, Francis will make sure his daughter married well. It was inevitable.
