Warning incredibly boring scenes but please read for some background information and understanding. Thank you. Light danced softly through the open window, the curtains fluttering slowly in the September wind. Lifting my leg until the tip of my toe touched the back of my head, straining my body further. Why am I doing this again? Ugh, because I want to prove Tristan wrong that smart people can be fit as well. Though I don't think this is being fit, I think this is more of a stretchy thing. If someone were to enter my room whilst I'm doing this....I eyed the oak wood door that had stood at the entrance of my room for centuries, giving a mental prayer that no one would enter while I was doing yoga. I've already done my morning exercises and jog and my body is relatively used to this strain but it still feels odd. The classical music playing from my phone proved useful as I began to sift my pose. Reaching my left arm to hold my leg so that I could shift in to my next position the phone suddenly began to buzz with an unknown caller ID displayed on screen. Like an i***t I removed my right hand which had held me in place the entire time to get the phone but ended up sprawled on the ground. My toes nearly touching my face.
"Alyssa Evergarden, who's on the other side?" I ask as I pushed a few stray strands of my hair.
"This is Dr. Kaymöre of the Egyptian collection enterprise." Says a British voice on the other line. I frowned and sat up,crossing my legs I pulled my laptop out from it's bag and tapped in my password.
"Er,Dr. Kaymöre,I do not mean to sound rude but why are you contacting me at this hour of the day? I could have been working, Dr." I state as I tapped in the corporations name. My frown deepened but I smiled brightly the very next second.
" That is true, but translators need to be assigned a contract before they could be working, isn't that right? And since you have no contract to your name at the moment why don't I assign you a new job? How good is your ancient Egypt?" Asks the Doctor who shifted on the other side. Shutting the laptop off I leaned back on to my mat and stared at my star painted ceiling.
"Decent. Is this the job you are offering me,Dr. Kaymöre? I hope you have read my resume? I do not sign contracts until I know the background of the translation." I reply to his offer and smirked slightly. There was a lapse of silence before the Dr chuckled. Raising my eyebrows I stayed quiet.
"Ah,yes,I have. I see why you struggle to make money, Professor Evergarden. I'll buy you a ticket for a one way flight to Egypt,I'll send the coordinates to your email account, there is a new pyramid that has a hieroglyphics that is untranslated and unfortunately none of my translators could do the job. You have three days to decide and the very next day I expect you to be here if you agree. The ticket is for the next four days after this call." The doctor states. I smiled.
" I agree. I'll take this ticket and use it tomorrow. Goodbye Dr. Kaymöre. I will see you in two days. " I say overly cheerfully and hung up before the man could reply. Rushing down stairs completely having forgotten that I had stretchy pants on and a simple blue tank top.
"Tristan! I got a new job! Oh, hello Ori....aaahhh, I'll come back later." I say my cheeks tinted pink. They broke apart as if they were burned.
"Ah,no need to go, what job, translation or investigation?" Asks Tristan ruffling Ori's hair who blushed furiously. I sat at the kitchen island my eyes alight.
"Translation! And it's in Egypt." I say and took a cookie that was in a ridiculously pink box with a red bow. I raised an eyebrow and took a bite out of the cookie.
"I didn't know you liked pink, Tristy, or was it for Ori? Ori? Do you like pink?" I ask curiously.
"I...I...don't it's Valentine's Day." Says a reluctant Ori fiddling with his fingers. Blinking rapidly I held my phone out and balanced at the date.
"Huh,I could have sworn that it was the third of March just yesterday." I state with wide eyes. They exchanged looks before laughing.
" Ahahaha, a genius that has no sense of time! And to top it all off you are wearing yoga clothing. I assume you forgot due to excitement and the previous one because you were to busy to realise the time, now weren't you?" Tristan says smiling knowingly at me. I blankly stare at them before suddenly jumping back up again my eyes wide.
"Holy raccamoly! I utterly forgot that I have a meeting with An-"
"I'm here! You don't need to come to me,I had a feeling you had forgotten." Says Anny walking in to the kitchen with new bandages wrapped around her arms and hands. I blinked dumbly.
"Eh? You knew? Ori did you call her?" I ask the raven haired boy. He nodded and stood up after giving Tristan a kiss on his cheek.
"Well I have to go, Marry said she'll be back later tonight and that she'd bring some cake,I'm assuming you don't have time since you'll need to pack?" Ori says. I nodded slowly but then shook my head glaring at Ori.
"I have time!" I say and turned to Anny,"please sit I'll make some tea." I add and point towards the extra seat after giving the departing Ori a glare. Anny chuckled and sat down. Hours passed by before our discussion was finished. After packing my bags and placing a gun for save keeping in my suitcase I was done.
"So what offer is it." Asks Tristan leaning against my doorway.
"Mhmm? Oh that. They want me to translate a hieroglyphics tablet that was found in a recently discovered pyramid because they don't have anyone who is capable of such a feat so I assume that it's written in ancient Egypt which means whoever reads it will struggle their butts off." I say cheerfully.
"And you won't?" Asks Tristant smirking knowingly.
"Nope, definitely not. I've studied both ancient and New Egypt and can count as an expert." I say confidently as I trudged passed him and down the stairs.
"Okay, not like you haven't studied almost everything. But how long will this take? Your last job took five minutes and three days due to traveling to and fro. Will it be longer or are you literally just gonna go up there investigate the place and make sure it's legit and then translate for what six minutes at maximum before returning?" Asks Tristan.
"The latter, but I'm not returning for about a month." I say as I enter the kitchen. His nose twitched.
"What?" He asks incredulously,I smirk and sat down.
"I said I won't be back for a month or more. But the maximum is a year that I would be gone. Do you know that weird company that I've been tracking?" He nodded," Well I've found word of them in Egypt. Only clues and slight brushes of them being there but it's a lead and since I have access to every countries legal systems it won't be so hard to track them if they truly are there." I say and pushed my glasses up my nose. Tristan shook his head.
"Right, Professor Evergarden, the private investigator and translator, whatever you say goes. But will it really take you a year?" Asks Tristan as Marry, a red headed girl with twin ponytails and Ori entered the kitchen, Marry holding a cake.
"Ah-huh,it's necessary. There are a few hiccups and mistakes I believe to be purposefully done and laid out. So it might be a trap. Therefore I have to make it look like I am do the trail but gave up halfway through, in doing so I might succeed in convincing them that I gave up and that it is safe to continue their operation. Plus I'm also investigating the person who hired me for translation. Any how, hi Marry, that chocolate cake looks scrumptious." I say cheerfully. Tristan's eyebrow twitched as he stared at me.
"Why are you investigating someone who hired you?" He asks as Marry waved and sat down while Ori just shook his head and kissed Tristan's cheek before sitting down.
"Meh,no reason." I say reaching out for the cake which Marry simply moved out of the way,I pouted.
*Ding* my phone went off as an email was sent.
Subject: The ticket and location;
Dear Professor Evergarden,
Here is the location near the Nile River |||||||||||||||||| and the ticket that would take you dare. A contract will be ready for after you have determined that we are to be trusted.
Dr. Kaymöre.
Smiling I put away my phone as Marry turned towards me with a raised eyebrow.
"You got a new job? Then let's celebrate with some cake and then we'll talk about the crap in your room that you've been up to the last few days? Okay?" She says in an eerily creepy voice. I paled and nodded slowly.
Time skip~
"Ah,excuse me could you perhaps take me down the river? I'm in a bit of a hurry so if it doesn't bother you please? I'll pay." I offered a boatman who stood next to the harbour of the Nile River. His skin was tan and quite toned. He had soft sandy hair and buttery hazel eyes
"Of course, miss please enter. My name is Ricardo by the way." He says in broken English. I giggle and took his hand as he helped me in to his boat.
"I'm Alyssa and it's a pleasure to meet you, Ricardo." I state as I sat down and he began to paddle us down stream. The sun was casting shadows upon the waters making them move and skitter some having been actual fish and the other mere illusions the sun plays. The boatman talked most of the time giving out historic remarks about each district and even pointing out distant places that sometimes would shimmer visible before the haze of the sun would obscure them once more. When we got to the new pyramid Ricardo explained that the waters has washed away old sand that had hid the pyramid under gravel and rocks for millennia or even a longer time then that due to a thunderstorm brought in by the Red sea not so far from here. After paying him I made my way over to the pyramid and found construction tape around it, frowning I moved passed it and entered through a rocky entrance with engravings of mummies and what I could only assume as passing time. There was the sun over a sun dial that describes the passage of time. Tracing outlines of stars drafted around the sun dial.
"Ah, Professor Evergarden, I am Dr. Kaymöre. It's a pleasure to meet you in person. This way." A British voice called out taking my hand and shaking it, I suppressed the urge to flinch and smiled kindly as he lead the way down a withering path way with decaying walls of sand and stone.
"The pleasure is mine, Dr. Though I am rather surprised to see such an old pyramid. I never knew that the ancient Egyptians had another pyramid and one that was burried under sand and from what I know people have been walking over it for years." I say in curiosity, tracing the cracked walls with my fingers. The dr. Coughed.
"Ah,yes. No one believes such a thing possible. Any ways here we are." He says. In front of me was a dimly lit room, people were buzzing around near tables and old equipment that were attached to walls and twisting cables. There against the wall in the middle of it all stood a hieroglyphics. I walked over after nodding a greeting towards the people surrounding the hieroglyphics. My eyes narrowed and squinted as I leaned towards the hieroglyphics, but suddenly the light went out and the hieroglyphics glowed ominously in the now dark room.
"Is it supposed to do that?" I ask as I poked the wall after covering my hands with cloves.
"Yes. Feel free to move the symbols around if you wish." Says the Dr.
"Oh,uh,okay." I say unsurely before beginning to decipher the symbols but found the words to be mixed. Frowning I began to move the symbols finding that the tablet was movable. Interesting. *Click* Stunned by the sudden sound I eyed the hieroglyphics with suspicion. Okay, done.

"What?" I stared dumbly at the world's before the ground shifted and I was thrown forward and in to a pit of darkness.
