Chapter 1: The Beginning

"Oh,f*ck that hurts." I curse softly as I sat up. Light swirled from flames that burned green instead of red casting an ominous and eerie feeling in the air. I was on a raised platform that looked out across a chess like mat with hundreds upon thousands of armours in different blocks of the mat, each carrying a deadly weapon. Well this is fun. (Note sarcasm.) I rubbed my forehead that bled profusely from the impact of having fallen on it. Shakily getting to my feet the first thing I noticed was my glasses were broken and that there was several torch sticks and two basins one containing fire and the other oil,I assume the icky liquid to be. Taking a stick I threw it at the nearest armour which instantly reacted and turned the torch in to a pile of ash before it could even touch the ground. Shivering I backed up a step but froze as my heel met the edge of the platform. Hai, someone really set this place as a death trap, didn't they? But if they did this then they should have set some kind of way out or at least placed a task on one of the walls. Scanning the walls I found nothing, taking another torch and dipping it in oil and then fire I held the brining torch towards the walls behind and around me.  The river is the key to the Labrinth's end.  Labrinth's end? Scanning the armours I blinked rapidly. Each of them have a unique set of armour usually in different alignments so that might be the Labrinth so the chess plates are the river? Or is it a literal river? Holding the torch higher above me my body froze as I noticed the long drop down inbetween the platform and the plates not to mention the other sides of the platform, but only enough..... This section has longer opening..... Frowning I thought about the possibilities of there being a river down this pit. Gulping I let go of the torch it fell quickly and rapidly, lighting the pit as it dit so, revealing countless scorpions and deadly snakes curled around vines.  "Oh,great, just great, either die by poison or by being sliced to mince pieces." The torch landed bellow, though quite a distance bellow. "Welp, good news is there is a river, bad news is that this river is pitch black and had turned in to an inferno because of the torch, yippee." I muttered sarcastically before pulling my shirt sleeves up, how the hell am I seeing down here in anyways? I'm as blind as a mole! "Let's see if I could survive this. If I don't blame it on....oh,s**t, I hadn't signed any contracts yet! That means my death will be my fault, well shit." I say and shook my head. No need to make yourself crazy Alyssa, just jump and if you die so be it,it's better than being mince meat. Pushing roughly from the ground I watched as the scorpions aimed their tails at me and the snakes hiss at my expense. "Don't worry,I won't be a bother to you in a moment, I'm sure." I say and waved. The snakes and scorpions stared at me as if I was crazy, perhaps I am. The water and fire wrapped around my body as I fell in to it, stirring centuries old waters that have been still the entire time letting the oily substance settle underneath the ground instead of up on the surface making the water much clearer. Please tell me it's supposed to be this easy..... I felt a scorching pain swirl around my body driving all the cold from my body. It seared my bones and boiled my blood as it passed through me, letting the blood flow upwards uncontrollably. Couching madly I held on to my mouth and stomach swimming towards shore I kept on coughing even on land in fact this only seemed to make things worse.  Arching my back I dug my fingers in to the sandy rocks and screamed my lungs out as the fire gathered around my heart making it race at incredible speeds. I passed out before much more could unfold.  The fire had been snuffed out when I woke up, both within my body and in the river along with the one on the platform high above. Scathing marks and engraved florescent patterns swirled around the walls of the gave. Depicting warriors who use to travel through these waters on boat describing how those who would enter these waters with either fire or clean water would instantly wither and die. Shuddering my lips curled slightly in relief, thank the gods that that did not happen to me.... Standing I stared at the blood puddle in which I slept with disgust. Looking down I noticed my clothes were just as bloody. Well fudge cake. Sighing I shook my head and continued on wards. The lights from the engravings leading my way, each being a different colour from the last, creating a rainbow like scene around me. The waters now clear of the black substance glowed a clear aqua blue that made the flow of it obvious. The scorpions and snakes were oddly missing, frowning I paused and looked around. But where could they possibly have gone? Please don't tell me they. Ugh, let's solve that problem when it occurs. But hopefully it doesn't. After a while of just walking I found a whirlpool at a dead end room that circulated around the whirlpool, at the other side of the start of the room a waterfall brought new water back while the whirlpool took the old water away. Well f#ck is that seriously the only way out?! Huffing I scanned the circular room and froze at a sudden realisation. Grinning madly I jumped straight in to the waters,no need for some message on the walls to tell me what to do,I have an idea. But it won't be as simple as others would believe. The currents tugged at my body sometimes dragging me down and making it hard to breath, whilst the fire began to return. The whirlpool grasped at my body clutching it and spinning it of its own free will. Gasping as I came up again I glared menacingly at the centre of the pool before trying to swim against it once more. I caught glimpses of sleeping corpses at the bottom of the pool with endless amounts of boats,ha! This should be called the Bermuda Circle! Finally escaping from the clutches of the whirlpool I swam towards the waterfall and took a deep breath before diving deep under it darkness embraced me as I dove deeper under the cascading falls of water pushing me further and further down. A blinding light grabbed my attention as I swam deeper. Almost out of breath, come on Alyssa almost there, I'm sure it's just this little test and then you'll either be dead or you'll be free to investigate that company that traffics children and woman. Closing my eye I tried to swim faster as I became paler with every paddle. Grasping at what I could only guess to be kelp I pushed myself in to the entrance of the under water cave and grinned at the crystals that provided an eerie red glow to the underwater haze. There was a slight rippling above me which I hope is the surface lapping against a shoreline. Gasping as I came up I arrived in a strangely decorated room. Cold colours used to paint out patterns on an oval shaped floor and warm colours for the circular roof over head. Pulling myself on to land although it was marble and cold as ice it was much better than the firey waters of the river.  ' Interesting, child, how did you survive?'  A man's voice asks as a ghost like male leaned over me,his eyes just above mine, he had silvery hair and purple eyes that glowed with malice and curiosity. "Sorry, you'll have to ask my will. Ugh, that sounded rude, sorry. I have absolutely no idea as to how I managed to survive that, but I did. I'm Alyssa Evergarden, so ghostly figure with an abnormally handsome face, who might you be?" I ask as I slightly cough out some blood whilst grinning, it must have been a commecioul sight because he raised an eyebrow in amusement. ''I am the god of time, Zin and you my dear, Alyssa have two more tasks before you can freely breath a sigh of relief.' The man states. "Please tell me you ain't serious, God of time? Why so many tasks?!" I complained making him grin. ' As to proof your worth to live,my dear. ' He replies and began to fade.
