Chapter 5: Chase

Lizzy,the ash blonde girl turned towards me as we walked through the streets towards the hotel I had left my clothes and essentials at.
"What do you do for a living, James said that you solved the hieroglyphics and that you were hired to translate so maybe a translator?" She offered. I shook my head with a small smile and tugged the coat that Kizar had given me tighter towards myself.
"Yes, I am,but I am also a professor and private investigator,what about all of you?" I ask.
"I'm a bodyguard for Dorian and Kizar." Says Travis who dragged both of them lower and ruffled their hair grinning madly.
"Get off!" They shout and threw him off of them.
"Oh? It seems your charges are stronger than you, I think they should bodyguard you instead,don't you?" I teased and in response made everyone except Dorian laugh.
"Pfft,yeah right." Jarvis grinned as he stood up and dusted himself down. Kizar then turned his head and winked at me.
"Dorian and I are scientists." He says.
"Oh, ha! I knew it not all geniuses are weak!" I say with a proud smile which confused everyone. "Just something everyone's been telling me." I add to dispel the awkwardness of the situation. Richard sighed.
"I'm a soldier and also a military trainer for the agency, Lizzy and Mia help me with training younger generations in weaponry." He says and dragged a hand through his sand like hair as we neared my hotel. The sun was starting to set and it didn't help that the lights in the streets kept on flickering with ominous intention. Dragging my luggage down the stairs after changing clothes and tying my hair in to a bun I signed out of the hotel and turned to Richard who had said he'll wait here with me until the other come around with their cars.
"So a professor,huh? What do you teach?" He asks, he was leaning against the wall, his hands in his pockets and the setting sun casting shadows upon his face.
" History." I state with a grin as I leaned against the wall opposite his. " And mythology. Though not many go to that class." I say with a rueful smile. Richard chuckled and shook his head.
"Well with the advancement of tech you don't need to teach children about the various species of creatures when their phones could just tell them." Says a suddenly worried looking Richard. Searching the room I froze when I saw that it was one of the people who had been in the pyramid with me.
"Should we run?" I ask straightening.
"Probably. Come on." Grabbing my luggage and my wrist he ran passed the man who stood at the reception table arguing aggressively.
"Don't they realise that the objects they seek are soul bound to the one who holds them?" I ask as we waved a taxi down. He looked at me his eyes slightly onyx now.
"No they do. They wish to kill you then take the object." He says as we sat down. We heard a sharp click which made me turn towards the driver. He had a gun in his hands a look of pure malice on his face.
"Get in and be quiet." He says.
"Nope, sorry." I shout and slowed down time, grabbing Richard I pushed him in to the backseat and placed my luggage next to him before shutting the door and running to the driver's side, taking the man by the scruff of his neck I pulled him out and took his gun,placing it on the ground by in the taxi, I took some rope that was on the passenger seat and tied the man to a lamp post before letting time return when I was in the taxi and the door was shut.
"What the hell?!" He shouted as he began to struggle waving I took off driving at full speed.
"Where to?" Calling out to Richard who seemed slightly dazed. "Hey are you alright back there?" I ask as I made a sharp turn and swung around to face him after hitting the breaks.
"Yeah,just how did you do that?" He asks.
"I slowed down time,as simple as that. Now where to?" I ask again.
"To #@#@@#."
"Alrighty then,hold on." I state cheerfully and drove at full speed down the barren roads.
