Chapter Twenty-Four

2211 Words

The suspense had gone on long enough, too much time had been wasted on perfecting her plan and not enough time was spent executing it; Laila had enough, and from Eve’s expression, she seemed to have had enough too. It didn’t matter who made the first step, what mattered was moving forward towards each other to finally talk. As they met at the center of the pack, Laila tried her hardest to appear unbothered by Eve, even one small movement or change in tone would give her away, and she could not have that. Eve looked to be as cool as a cucumber, she even adorned a smile, taking advantage of her striking beauty to mask her true intentions. No one could ever believe she was up to something, even Laila herself wondered if she had just become as paranoid as Lucius but the evidence was damning.
