The CID office was, indeed, empty. No-one in these departments worked late unless they were on call or on the late roster. Jain was the late roster CID this week for the area, so he had the room to himself. At least, until DS Manos turned up. He wondered what sector she covered, not recognising the name. He found the largest, clearest desk and set himself up. Computer on, lights on, paperwork in piles, it already looked more promising. He brought out his barely-started interview plan and started adding key points to it. He recreated the timeline of events, as he saw them, in notes across the page. It was difficult to be specific, due to the lack of witnesses and hard evidence. He began to doubt himself. What was wrong with him today? He was never usually so up and down with his mood. Here
