Spotlights had been set up alongside a small, portable generator, and a group of white-suited crime scene investigators surrounded the suspicious mound they had earlier discovered. As they slowly dug away at various points, trying to establish the contents without disturbing them, other officers took photographs and wrote on clipboards.
