Chapter 23 – Back Against the Wall

Aiden’s POV

My life is in a complete mess, I am angry at everybody right now. My whole life I have been lied too. I wish my father would have trusted me enough to tell me why he wanted me to marry Madison. If he had everything could have been perfect. I could have been the CEO of the Anderson company here in New York instead of that asshole she is supposed to be engage to now. How dare she be engage to get married so fast after our divorce. I am angry right now and am subject to explode. She want even pick up the damn phone and answer me when I call her.

To further this f*****g day my dad knows about Sarah and her f*****g father stealing from the company. He keeps telling me how much of a disappointment I am to him, how he wished I would have made better choices. Well guess what dad how you expected me to turn out when you have had a mistress that you have paraded around my mom your whole marriage, but now I am the disappointment. This situation is truly laughable; I then hear a knock on my office door. I really wish these people would leave me the hell alone. I tried to ignore because I am to piss off to talk to anyone at this moment. I pour my self another drink and think back to how I poured my heart out to that b***h Madison, and she had the nerve to not listen to me. Then her asshole of a brother had the nerve to threaten me and accuse me of trying to kill her. I have no f*****g clue what he was talking about, I never sent anyone to run her off the road or try to kill her. He is accusing my family of that but maybe someone is trying to kill her because of them. Let’s be realistic there hands not actually clean. I have heard a lot of stories about Charles Anderson and Henry Adams. They are indeed legends but not necessarily in a good way. Those two got a lot of skeletons, they did not always do square business and let’s not forget they are the head of the America Mafia or, so I was told by father tonight. Which is why he tried to stop me from tracking her phone and going talk to her. Of course, I would not listen to him he is the real reason I am caught up in this situation. There goes that knocking on my damn door again I swear I am going to shoot the person on the other side of the door. I reach in the draw of my desk and take out that pistol I keep for protection on the nights that I am working all alone. I walk over to the door and sling it open with a gun pointed at the person standing there.

“What the hell is wrong with you Aiden. You look like s**t and drinking is not going to help your situation. Daddy said you went to try and talk to Madison last night. Did your stupid ass really track that girl to her parent's home to talk to her after all the s**t you did to their daughter. You must have a death wish. I am surprised they did not have you locked up in basement somewhere. You know people like them believe in torture. Then pops is pissed about your in-laws stealing from us.” Dylan said. I just stare at him and storm back to the sofa in my office to sit down my head is pounding. Of course, instead of taking the hint that I didn’t want to be bothered he followed me in.

“So, what did Madison say when you went to talk to her?” Dylan ask. I just sigh because I do not want to relive the drama. I know that he is not gonna leave until I give him some answers. “Well, she was busy playing the victim about what I did to her and how I took her from the hospital. She even had the nerve to tell her family that we dumped her in an alley and did not care if she died. That was the end of the conversation because that asshole swooped in and picked her up and took her away. Before I could leave her brother decided we need to have a talk. So, Christian says that Maverick has been trying to kill Madison. He told me that he had someone try to attack her that night we saw them at the restaurant in their hotel. According to him there was a big shoot out, but everyone got out safely. He said the second attempt was the day I asked Madison to meet me at the café. When I asked him for proof, he got angry and said he would stop at nothing to put a bullet in anyone head who comes after his sisters.” I say. My brother is sitting there staring at me in shock, because he knows I had nothing to do with this. At least I hope he do not think I am involved.

“Ok so it is a good thing that you left there breathing because if they really think you were involved, he would have killed you on the spot. Maybe Madison is the reason he let you go. She might feel like you're not involved.” Dylan said. My brother must be out of his mind didn’t he hear what I said about her accusing me of leaving her to die. “Listen Aiden she did love you at one point and she just did not fall out of love with you over night. Sure, she is emotional because of the things that out family has done, but I think there is still hope for the two of you.” Dylan said. I roll my eyes and decide to ignore his ramblings. Then I thought of something I needed to tell my brother.

“Well if she still does love me she will not after she receive notification from my lawyer. I told him I wanted him to put that family on notice that they owed me because she lied to me for two years. I think she owes me and I want my piece of the pie. Why should I let Jayden come in on his white horse and reap all the benefits.” I say. “ Have you lost your damn mind Aiden. Her family is dangerous man they want hesitate to kill you if you keep making her life miserable. You have to stop the lawyer from sending that notification.” Dylan said. “ Too late I made him send it through email before I left his office. He was spouting some non sense about me not having a claim because of what I put in the divorce agreement stating neither party could go after the other when the divorce is finalized. But I feel like that don’t matter because she was rich before the divorce and in a normal divorce agreement her worth would have been higher than mine and she would have had to pay me. So I just want what I was owed and he did it based on deception.” I say. “Caleb is her lawyer and he is unbeatable. He will come after you and everything we work so hard to bury with the baby and the affair I am sure he will use against you. I am telling you to leave this alone.” Dylan said. I am not going to listen to him I want what I was owed and I will get it even if I must kidnap her ungrateful ass again. “All I am asking you to do Aiden is consider the family that you are messing with they will not only hurt you physically but they will destroy the business.” Dylan says before walking out the door.
