Chapter two

Michael never got his private apartment so he squats with his aunty daughter who lived close to Michael's school her name is Catherine. Michael thought living with her cousin's sister since he hasn't gotten his apartment will be good for him at least he won't be troubled cause Catherine is her cousin's sister so they will live fine. But Michael never knew what is coming to him so I relaxed.

On getting home Michael knock at the door for Catherine to open up for him but no one came out he knocked and knocked but still no answer so he sat in front of the door waiting for his cousin Catherine she's not back yet. Michael announced to himself but at least should have told me she's going out or even drop the key for him somewhere or with the neighborhood, he became tired and weak and hungry.

While waiting he saw one of his neighbors and he stood up and said: "excuse me sir have you seen my cousin Catherine today did she drop any key with you please "?

And the man said, " No I haven't seen her today and she did not drop any key with me ".

The man left and Michael sat down back waiting for his cousin Catherine Michael started feeling dizzy but he did not want to sleep cause he's not comfortable there so he said to himself " how wish I have a friend close by I would go to his place to stay there till my sister comes back".

Michael doesn't know what to do again and the day is becoming dark but Michael's cousin Catherine is not yet back.

It's 7:30 pm. Michael is still sitting in front of the door waiting for his cousin Catherine but she's not back yet.

While some of their neighbors who are coming back from work saw him sitting in front of them and said "Michael why are you not inside it seems you haven't changed your cloth also or have you been locked out"?

"Yes the door is locked and I haven't seen my cousin Catherine she also did not drop the key for me I don't know what to do but to wait for her "Michael answered.

The neighbors then left him to their apartment.

Michael becomes frustrated and worried. is dark already he started asking himself " where could she be, why is she not back yet what's going on did she travel or what even though she wanna travel at least should have told me I don't understand what is happening look at the time is already 8:45 pm and she's not yet back the whole neighbors are back formwork but she's not why or should I break the key and enter inside "No" if I should do that won't she think I'm a thief by breaking the door like what will she think of me if I should do that but what should I do now I don't even have a phone yet that I will use to call her or should I go and beg my neighborhood to borrow me her phone so I can call her ".

Michael stood up and walked through to one of their neighbors' apartments getting to the door he said to himself " I hope they will answer me " and he did the sign of the cross and knock three times but nobody came out to answer him so he knocked again three times then someone shouted, "who is that "?

" it's me, Michael, sorry for disturbing your peace please I need a little help from you "

Then the person came out and it was a man.

"Good evening sir " Michael greeted.

"Good evening, who are you and how may I help you "?

" Sorry for disturbing you sir I'm Michael sir, I lived with my cousin's sister Catherine here in this compound. Sir since 5:20 I came back from the lecture I have been sitting outside I could not go inside to change my cloth or even take a bath, my sister locked me out and she's not back yet and I don't have a phone to call her that's why I come knocking if you can help me out, please.

The man answered him "why would your cousin do such to you...hmm, do you wanna call her or what "?

" yes, sir " Michael answered him.

The man then said to him "wait here I'm coming"

The man went in and brought out his phone and gave it to Michael to call his cousin.

Michael said to the man "thank you, sir" And he stood there and called his cousin.

The phone rang more than 3times but she did not pick so he dialed it again now is not reachable Michael dialed it again not reachable.

Michael became very down after dialing his cousin's line more than a few times. it was very obvious that the man noticed it and ask him "what's wrong is there no calling card on the phone again, were you able to get your cousin"?

Michael answered him "No sir. it rang three times she did not pick and I dialed it again not reachable ".

The man said "hmm" he collected his phone and went inside.

Michael was left alone outside he went back to the door and sat down waiting for his cousin.

It's 10.15 pm. Michael's cousin is not yet back Michael has not taken his bath nor even have something to put in his Tommy since he came back from lecture Michael began to ask himself "what kind of life is this huh, why am I being treated this way. what have I done wrong do I have to face what my parents did to me here also"?

Michael become very sad that he started wishing, how wish I have money now. will I be facing all this from my parents or even this my cousin that I thought she won't treat me the same way my parents did?

While Michael was talking and wishing to himself he started feeling dizzy and he tried not to sleep the more he tried to keep his eyes open the more his body refused to cooperate, it didn't take long for Michael to doze off.
