Morning. Adria was still sleeping on the balcony where Jacob left her when she felt a hand shoving her hair away from her face. She opened her eyes slowly and saw Jacob. He was squatting in front of her, a cold look on his handsome face. Yes, she was mad at him but she would still acknowledge his handsomeness, he looked so charming as the morning sun kissed his face. He unlocked the cuffs and she freed her hands, massaging each wrist with the other hand when she got up. Jacob watched her do that with no apology written on his face. "Go shower, and then get dressed. I'll be waiting for you downstairs." He said and was almost leaving when Adria's question stopped him at the door. "Where are we going?" He didn't respond even after stopping to ask her a question. She sighed when he closed the door behind him after he left. After she had showered and was on her way downstairs, Jacob looked up from where he sat in the living room, a disgusted look took over his face, to Adria's distress. "What the hell are you wearing?" He asked, making Adria stop at the stairs to look at herself. "A dress?" She replied, uncertain of why he just asked that. She was wearing a black sleeveless gown, it had a slit from its ankle stop to her thighs. "Go change, I'm not taking you to a wine party." "Oh." Adria sighed inaudibly, having one more look at her dress before going back up. She came back with a new dress and was in the middle of the stairs when he looked up and saw her again. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me, Adria!" She heard him get angry. Jerry was standing by, he lowered his head when his master yelled at his wife, again. It wasn't the first time he was witnessing what was happening. He had been there while they were newly wed and had also witnessed when they used to be happy together but now all his master did was get irritated with everything his wife did. "I changed the dress," her voice was weak, she was partly tired because of how she had to sleep last night. "You changed into something worse," Jacob's eyes had this flare of annoyance she had learned to dread. She looked at her dress again like before, wondering what was wrong with it. It was a shorter blue dress; knee length as it was, it had thin straps and wasn't sleeveless like the last dress. "Go change into something you should wear to an office, I don't want you getting everyone's attention at the meeting." He hinted to her, making her wonder why he didn't just mention that they were going to his office. "I'm sorry," she automatically said before going back up the stairs. Soon, she was back again with a new dress. She didn't bother going down the stairs this time, she just made a loud noise while she walked to the start of the stairs to get his attention. He looked up and saw her. He didn't say anything immediately like before, he just gave her a scrutinizing look for some seconds while she waited. "Adria, please go put on a f*****g suit." He finally said. "Okay," she nodded and hurried back to the room. She came back this time wearing a navy blue suit, its trousers not very penciled but fitting her slender legs. "Finally," she heard him remark before she even got to the stairs. A smile crept up her lips, not because he praised her (that was the closest to praise she could get from him these days), no, she smiled because yes, FINALLY, she didn't have to go wear something different for him to criticize it. She came down the stairs and joined him in getting into a car waiting for them out front. When she got in, the driver closed the door and hurried to the front to start the car. Now, the car drove silently along the road. Adria turned her head to the right to look at her husband, he had his head rested against the car's headrest. His eyes were closed till she heard a beep, it was from his phone. He got it from his pocket and she saw him start to type swiftly, she knew he was replying to a text so she peeked at his phone to see who it was but it was just an unsaved number. He put the phone back in his suit jacket and sat back, ready to close his eyes again till they got to the office. "Are we going to the headquarters, or we are just gonna visit a branch?" She asked because he usually had her come with him whenever he visited his company's branch offices, across the city. His eyes opened when she asked that but he didn't turn to look at her. He ignored her question and was about to close his eyes again when he heard her. "I'm sorry about last night," Adria thought she should apologize, she thought it was her fault for disturbing his sleep, she thought she deserved what he did to her. "Mmmn." She heard him. "I just wanted you so bad last night, I disturbed you," she added but didn't hear him say anything else. "Jacob, is there another woman? In your life?" She got him to turn to her when she asked that. He scoffed at her question, it made her feel silly for asking that. "What do you think?" He asked her. "You think I'm seeing someone else?" His voice wasn't intimidating this time, she looked at him and thought maybe he really wanted to know what was going on in her heart. "I don't know. I don't think so, I mean, I trust you," she shrugged with some tears forming In her eyes. "That didn't answer my questions," he reminded her."Do you think I'm cheating on you?" "No," she said honestly. She really didn't think he could cheat on her, she still believed he loved her despite his change in attitude, and even though she had thought of it countless times, she couldn't bring herself to believe it. It would break the little of her left if she ever found out that he was cheating. It would shatter her because he was all she had. "Good. Don't ever ask me that, I am not cheating on you." He made that clear to her before resting his head against the car's headrest again. "Jacob..." She was about to say something else when he stopped her. "Please Adria, it's fifteen minutes till we get to the headquarters, can you be quiet till we get there?" "O...okay." She nodded even though his eyes were still closed and he couldn't see him.
