Date Night

It's been a few days since Kai and I became a couple. Leon is with a new girl. Lilly and Briggs are still going strong. Tonight we decided to go dancing once everyone is off work. Lilly and I are getting ready. She was wearing a red dress that could make any man fall to their knees. The matching red heel and flower barrette really accentuate it. As for me, I wanted something basic, but she refused. She convinced me to wear a black dress with a red strip across the top and bottom of it. I told her I suck wearing high heels, so she gave her shorter heels and some black gloves that are cut at the finger base.
Lilly: Look at you!
Me: Look at you!
Lilly: Can't wait for the guys to see.
I get shy at the thought of Kai seeing me like this. There's a knock on the door. Lilly goes to open and in walks Briggs and Leon. Kai isn't with them. Disappointment becomes obvious. Briggs chimes in.
Briggs: Kai got caught up at work. I loned him my car. He's going to meet us there.
We gather our things and head downstairs. Some blonde girl is leaning on the car. She looks at me and Lilly.
Girl: Who are they?
Lilly: I'm his sister b***h! And this is his sister-in-law.
Leon starts coughing. She starts patting him on the back. Lilly and I start laughing. Apparently Leon doesn't find it funny. He hits the hood of the car yelling for everyone to get in. We all piled in and headed off to the club.
We arrive at the club and wait in line. We finally got in and find a booth. Lilly heads to the bar with me in tow. She orders everyone a drink. I told her I was gonna stay at the bar. She nods and heads back to the group. I finish my drink and order another one. I wish Kai would hurry up.
Stranger: Can I buy you a drink?
Me: No, thanks. I already have one.
Stranger: You look gorgeous.
I feel a kiss pressed to my neck. I turn around and start to give them a piece of my mind.
Me: Look. I don't know who you thi-
Kai: Hi princess.
Me: Kai!
Kai: Sorry I'm late.
Me: It's fine. All that matters is your here. Let's go to the group.
I grabbed his hand, and we headed back to the group. I sit next to Lilly and she scoots over to allow us into the booth.
Lilly: Yay! Everyone is here. Including the extra.
I spit my drink out and start choking. Kai pats my back. I eventually stop. Leon refuses to take his eyes off me. I'm leaving his presence.
Me: Lilly, let's dance.
Lilly: Hell yeah. Briggs? Leon? Kai? Whoever you are?
Briggs: Do I have a choice?
Kai: I'm down.
Girl: Yeah LeLe. Let's dance.
LeLe? Everyone burst out laughing. We head to the dance floor still laughing. Kai grabs me by the waist, and we start swaying to the music. The beat is so sensual. I feel my body gravitating towards Kai. I spun around, my back pressed against his chest. I place my hand on his neck, grinding it up against him.
It never fails. Leon's eyes are on us. I'll show you I'm over you. Kai leans down and starts kissing me. Between the feeling already and the music, this kiss is rather steamy compared to our usual kisses. We break apart.
Kai: Melanie, can we go?
Me: Already?
Kai: Please princess.
Me: OK, I'll go let Lilly know we're leaving.
I find Lilly and let her know we are leaving. I grab my phone from her purse and we leave. We're now outside. We get in Briggs' car and head home.
Me: Why did we have to leave?
Kai: Princess. I know you didn't want to leave. But that isn't the type of scene we could stay in.
Me: I dont get it.
Kai: Melanie, You felt it. You had to. If you don't, then maybe you don't feel the same about me as I do about you.
I think back to the kiss we just shared. It was filled with passion and desire. That's when it hits me. The s****l tension that was building.
Kai: Do you understand now?
Me: Yes I do. Now I see why you wanted to leave.
Kai: I'm sorry. I' m gonna pressure you. It's whenever you're ready. But I also don't want to be put in a situation where it's tempting me too.
Wow. Let this have been Leon, we probably be in the backseat of a car going at it. He really will wait until I'm ready.
We arrive at the apartment. We get out and light up a cigarette. I took it from him and took a puff. He looks at me from head to toe.
Me: Like what you see?
Kai: Oh I love what I see.
Me: Oh shut up.
He lifts me up onto the hood of the car. He stands between my legs and takes the cigarette from me. He takes a puff then hands it back. Suddenly, he nuzzles his face into the nape of my neck.
Kai: My one and only princess.
Me: Huh?
Kai: Nothing.
I know he said something, but I don't know what. I ran my fingers through his hair. He finally stands up, finishes the cigarette, then walks me to the apartment building.
Me: Are you staying the night?
Kai: Probably best, I don't.
Me: Oh. Ok. I guess I'll see you later then.
Kai: Night princess.
Me: Night Kai.
He kisses my hand and heads back to the car. I waved bye and headed up to my apartment. Lilly sends a text saying she's staying at the guy's place and not to wait up. I head to my room and get undressed. I take a shower then head to bed.
It's officially been seven months since Kai and I started dating. My time with Kai has been better than the seven years with Daniel and the 3 months with Leon. We've gone to the movies, the beach, the zoo, the mall, mostly down by the river where we went on our first date. It's our go-to place.
We were hanging out at the guy's place. Celebrating my 26th birthday. Once again, Leon has a new flavor of the month. Today is a complete leisure day for all of us. We all had the day off. Lilly once again plays bartender. She offers everyone a margarita. Once everyone has their drinks, we make a toast.
Briggs/Lilly: To happiness.
Me/Kai: To new beginnings
Leon/Girl: To getting laid.
Everyone looks in their direction. Lilly breaks out singing happy birthday to me and everyone joins in. Kai places his hand on the small of my back. And he walked me to the living room.
Kai: Happy birthday princess. I missed you.
Me: Awww. Thank you and I missed you too.
Kai: How was work?
Me: Same old. Same old. You?
Kai: Monica tried to hit on me.
I rolled my eyes. First Kai, then Leon, and now back to Kai. I start laughing.
Me: Girl just can't help herself?
Kai: Please. There's no woman alive that could compare to you.
We laugh and head to the kitchen to refill our drinks. Briggs is in Lilly's ear, and she's giggling up a storm. Kai clears his throat.
Lilly: Refills?
Kai: Yeah.
Lilly: Thank you.
Kai grabs the ingredients and blends them up. He pours her a new glass. She smiles devilishly at us.
Lilly: So Thanksgiving is coming up? You know what that means?
Briggs: Ugh!
Kai: Is it that time already?
Lilly: Yep. So you have three weeks to pack and get the time off.
I look between the three of them. They all look unhappy. Thanksgiving is a happy time. So what can be so bad?
Lilly: Might want to catch my future sister-in-law up to speed.
Me: Huh? What's going on?
Kai runs his hands down his face. He downs his drink and grabs my hand. We start walking to his room, but he stops to speak to Leon.
Kai: You have three weeks to pick a date and get the time off.
Leon: Why?
Kai: Next month is Thanksgiving.
Leon: f**k. Already?
Kai: Yep. So figure it out.
We continued to his room. He gestures for me to enter first, then closes the door behind us. I feel that something is off? He starts pacing back and forth. I grab his hand.
Me: What's wrong Kai?
Kai: How do you feel about us so far?
Me: I think we're doing great. Why do you ask?
Kai: So every year, either Christmas or Thanksgiving, we usually go to our parents for the holidays. We decided that instead of picking between the two holidays, we should just make Thanksgiving the family tradition. So, every year we all go with whoever we are with. I'm nervous because I feel like it's too soon. I don't want to scare you off.
He starts rambling on and on. It's cute seeing him freaking out. But as a good girlfriend, I should put his worries at ease. I grabbed him by the arms. He looks at me.
Me: Everything will be fine. I don't scare easily.
He pulls me into his arms. I squeeze him back. I get ready to pull away when he pulls me in closer. He holds my head against his chest.
Kai: How did I get so lucky to get a girl like you?
Me: Through some crazy events.
We laughed. He finally releases me. He stares into my eyes. He slowly leans in and kisses me. I don't think I'll ever get enough of him.
