Chris’s POV
Today was Miah’s yearly doctor appointment. I was meant to be there with her and I still wanted to be there for her. I had been a p***y and never called or tried to reach out to her. Honestly, I was scared of her rejecting me.
But it had been 2 months since we got a divorce and I was miserable. I missed her more every day and I needed to find a way to get her back. I was willing to do anything.
I planned to accidentally run into her after her appointment. If it was bad news, I would be there to comfort her and I was praying for good news and then I could hopefully celebrate with her. At least tell her how much I missed her.
I climbed out of my car in time and saw her walk out of the building. She looked amazing. Her hair blowing in the breeze. I always knew she was gorgeous, but our time away from each other only made me realize how much I needed and wanted her.
As I took a step forward I froze. I watched in shock as another man walked towards her and kissed her. All of my hopes were shattered at that moment. I watched as she smiled up at him the way she used to smile at me.
Knowing I had no right to be mad, I was livid and the only thing I could think to do was get back in my car. I didn’t want to drive home because the apartment would only make me miss her more.
As much as I didn’t want to, I found myself driving to my parents. I wanted to be in the comfort of my childhood home.
I walked into the kitchen to find Sarah, our housekeeper, putting away the dishes.
“Christopher! Aren’t you a sight for sore eyes!” She said, embracing me in full hug.
“Hi Sarah. I missed you too!”
“Are you hungry?”
“Always.”
She got to work making me her amazing Mac and cheese. In no time, she placed the bowl in front of me.
“Chris! When did you get here?” My Mother’s voice interrupted me from taking a bite.
“Not long mother.” I said before getting my first bite.
“Oh umm let me go inform your father.” She quickly left the room. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.
20 minutes later, two large bowls of Mac and cheese. I was about ready to leave. My conversation with Sarah was great. Growing up, she was more of a parent than my own. But she had to get back to work.
As I stood to leave, my Mother rushed back into the kitchen, followed by Claudia.
“You got to be f&cking kidding me.” I mumbled.
“Honey! Look who stopped by to see us.” My mother said, ignoring my comment.
“Hey baby.” Claudia said, making her way toward me.
“Look Mom…Claudia. I don’t know how to make this more clear, but I am not interested.”
“You were interested before?” Claudia added, sounding pissed.
“No actually I was beyond drunk and had no idea what I was doing when I let you suck my d!ck”
“CHRISTOPHER!” My mother yelled.
“No mother! In 5 years I had never cheated on my wife and I had no desire to cheat, but I got a call from Claudia. I lied to my wife about meeting with her because she was upset and needed a friend. Next thing I know, my wife is getting a video of her giving me a blowjob.”
“It’s not my fault.” Claudia said, trying to sound innocent, but I knew better. It took me about 3 weeks to figure it out. But my people traced it back to her.
“Doesn’t matter, I don't want to be with you.” I grabbed my keys from the table and walked out the door.
Miah’s POV
After ordering, we sat in silence.
“So do you plan on talking to me about what’s bothering you?” Wyatt asked, looking right into my eyes.
Giving him a weak smile. “I don’t know what you mean?”
“Miah, I can tell something is bothering you.”
How in the world could he tell. 5 years of marriage and Chris could never tell unless I wanted him to know. But this was different and new.
“Listen, Wyatt, I really like you. Which is scary in such a short amount of time. Honestly, it makes me question my own judgement.”
He chuckled. “I like you a lot too, Miah.”
“That’s why this is harder than I want it to be.”
The smile dropped from his face. “What are you talking about?”
“I….I can’t see you anymore.”
