Chapter 16

719 Words
During the car ride to Wyatt’s parents' house I could feel myself getting anxious. “You doing OK?’ He knew I was internally freaking out. “No, but I will be OK.” He chuckled a little, pulling me closer. “Listen, I am sorry it took so long for me to introduce you to my family.” “Why did you wait?” It had been bothering me but I didn’t know if it was normal and I was afraid to scare Wyatt away. I had never had a boyfriend and I wasn’t sure what I was doing. My therapist suggested I talk to Wyatt about my concerns but I hadn’t been ready. “Honestly, I was afraid to move too fast and for you to run from me again.” He said, looking down at me. “I won’t run again. I promise.” I said, giving him a quick kiss, but he wasn’t letting me go with just a little kiss. He pulled me to him and deepened our kiss. His hand slowly rose on my thigh. “Mister Harlow, we have arrived.” His driver said, forcing us to break apart. Once we were out of the car, we made our way into his parents' house. The moment we stepped in the door I could hear laughter filling the air. “NOAH!” Wyatt bellowed. Within seconds, the cutest little version of Wyatt came running through the house. “Daaaad.” He yelled, throwing himself into Wyatt’s arms. “Hey buddy. I missed you.” Wyatt said, giving him a kiss on the cheek and making my heart melt. “Miss you too.” “Remember Daddy telling you about his friend?” I watched as Noah shook his head yes. “Noah, this is Miah. My friend.” Still in Wyatt’s arms, he tilts his head to look at me. “Hi Noah. I’m so excited about meeting you.” I said, smiling. He smiled back at me and reached for me. My heart felt like it was going to burst out of my chest as I took Noah from his father. The entire time, Wyatt was smiling at making me feel some kind of way. “Looks like he likes you.” He said, giving me a wink. “Wyatt are you going to introduce us?” I turned to see an older version of Wyatt and a tiny, beautiful woman standing next to him. “Mom and Dad, this is Miah.” “Oh Miah, I am so excited to finally meet you.” She said, giving me a warm smile. “Likewise Mrs. Harlow.” “Oh, call me Emily and this is Peter, my husband.” His smile was just as welcoming. “Yes it is very nice to finally meet you.” “Come in. Come in.” She said, ushering us into the living room. The entire time, Noah had been resting his head on my shoulder. “I’m sorry Wyatt. Noah hasn’t had a nap yet. Papa over here gave him an entire KitKat.” Wyatt glanced over at his Dad, laughter filling his eyes. “Hey Buddy, it’s nap time.” Wyatt said, reaching for Noah. Noah wrapped his little arms around my neck and shook his head no. “Come buddy. Miah will still be here when you wake up.” “No. Not seepy.” He said, rubbing his eyes briefly before latching onto me again. “Noah, would you like me to rock you?” I softly whispered to him. He smiled and nodded at me. Wyatt nodded at me and I followed him to Wyatt’s room. Gently, I began rocking Noah and within moments he was fast asleep. Once he was comfortably in his bed, I followed Wyatt into the hall. “He has never taken to somebody like that before.” Wyatt says, pulling me into his arms the moment we closed Noah’s door. “Really?” I whispered as Wyatt’s lips hovered over mine. “Really. You are amazing.” His lips smashed into mine. Pulling away, he rested his forehead on mine. “We should get back downstairs. My Mother is dying to get to know you.” Taking my hand, he led me back to the living room.
