Jade is a rogue werewolf, who was born on the run with her parents. After her parent's deaths at 12 years old, she goes into hiding in the wilds, away from the cities. She finds a mentor at age 16, who tragically dies protecting her. At age 18, after leading a life full of tragedies alone, she heads to Pearl City to seek a new start and finally join a pack.

Pearlescent Pack is the strongest in the city close by, so she places her bets on joining them. There, she meets Kael Silvershade, the 22-year-old Alpha who immediately recognizes her as his mate. But Kael is hesitant—his past with a rogue hold him back from accepting her as his Luna. As their bond inevitably grows, Jade discovers her red hair and rare crimson wolf may be linked to an ancient bloodline.

With love, betrayal, and the secrets of her past at stake, Jade must navigate a dangerous path to claim her place—and her heart—before everything falls apart.

Chapter One
Jade adjusted the strap of her worn leather pack, the cool autumn air brushing against her freckled skin. She stepped out of the shadowed treeline and onto the cracked asphalt of the old highway that led into Pearl City. The towering skyline shimmered in the distance, like a promise of new beginnings. Nothing like the dense forest she had called home for the last few years. She inhaled deeply, steadying herself. She’d lived her entire life in the wilds, hidden from pack politics and their suffocating rules. But survival as a rogue was becoming harder. Food was hard to come by, and with no allies to call upon, the isolation was getting unbearable. Juniper, her wolf, growled softly in her mind. Are you sure about this, Jade? They won’t welcome you. They never welcome rogues. Jade adjusted her jacket and smirked. They don’t have to like me, Jun. They just need to see what I’m capable of. And what if they don’t? Juniper’s voice was sharp, her concern evident. This isn’t some lone alpha in the woods. This is an actual, established pack. The most powerful in the city, at that. Then I’ll make them see, Jade replied, her voice firm. You worry too much. And you don’t worry enough, Juniper muttered. You’re walking into a den of wolves, Jade. Literal wolves. Jade chuckled, the sound low and defiant. Good thing I’m one of them. The city grew closer with every step, the distant hum of traffic giving way to the noise of urban life. Glass buildings towered above her, and the scent of coffee, exhaust, and the occasional whiff of a fellow werewolf filled the air. It was overwhelming, an assault on her senses—the noise, the lights, the sheer number of people. It had been over a decade since she last stepped foot in a city. The memories surged unwelcome: holding her parents’ hands as they walked through crowded streets, the laughter of her mother, the protective arm of her father. Then, the blood. The betrayal. The life she lost. Juniper’s voice softened. We don’t have to do this today, Jade. We can wait— No. Jade clenched her fists. I’m tired of running away from the past. It doesn’t own me anymore. Her response was met with silence, and she continued on, her eyes set on the largest building in the city. As she strode through the bustling streets, she felt the weight of eyes on her. Strangers in tailored coats and polished shoes paused to stare, their expressions ranging from disdain to curiosity. A woman clutching a fancy-looking handbag whispered to her companion, her gaze fixed on Jade’s ragged appearance. “What’s she doing here?” Jade’s smirk deepened as she stepped closer to the woman. “Looking for manners. Seen any?” Her tone was sweet venom, laced with a challenge. The woman’s face flushed as she grabbed her companion’s arm, muttering something Jade didn’t bother catching. Jade kept walking, her boots clicking against the pavement. You really know how to make friends, Juniper said dryly. What can I say? It’s a gift. Ahead, the shimmering building of Silvershade Ventures rose into the evening sky, its sleek facade gleaming with an ethereal glow. The building radiated power, and Jade felt a flicker of unease. She shoved it down. No turning back now, she told Juniper. Just don’t get us killed. Jade rolled her eyes. Juniper could be so dramatic. No promises. She pushed through the revolving glass doors and stepped into the opulent lobby. The polished marble floors and soaring ceilings were a stark contrast to the gritty streets outside. Employees moved with purpose, their hushed conversations and clicking heels echoing in the vast space. Jade’s arrival didn’t go unnoticed. More stares, more whispers. But this time, there was something else in the air: the faint, unmistakable scent of wolves. Before she could take another step, two imposing figures in tailored suits approached her. Both were in human form but radiated dominance. Their sharp, golden eyes raked over her, and the faintest growl rumbled in the chest of the taller one. “State your name and business,” he said, his voice low and authoritative. Jade squared her shoulders, meeting his gaze without flinching. “My name is Jade. I seek an audience with your Alpha.” The guards exchanged a glance, their expressions unreadable. “And why do you need to see the Alpha?” the second one asked, his tone skeptical. “To prove myself,” she replied, her voice steady. “I want to join the Pearlescent Pack.” The first guard raised an eyebrow. “You’re lucky to even have made it into the city, rogue. You’re better off on the streets.” Jade smirked. “I don’t believe in luck, but your pack will be lucky to have me, I can promise that.” Their eyes flickered to each other, a silent exchange through their mind link. After a tense moment, the taller of the two nodded. He tilted his head toward the elevators at the back. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Follow us.” Jade’s pulse quickened as they escorted her to a private elevator. The mirrored walls reflected her pale face, framed by her wavy, crimson hair. She looked every inch the rogue she was—worn, tired, and out of place in this world of wealth and power. But she refused to let that intimidate her. The elevator shot upward, its hum emphasizing the silence pressing down on her. When the doors slid open, she was led into a sprawling office with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a breathtaking view of the city. The room exuded authority, from the dark wood desk to the shelves lined with leather-bound books and artifacts. Yet, despite its impressiveness, it felt cold and impersonal. “Wait here,” one of the guards instructed before disappearing through a side door. Jade stood alone, her nerves coiled tight. She had no idea what the Alpha looked like, who he was, or even his name. All she knew was that this was her one chance. The sound of a door opening drew her attention, and her breath hitched as a figure stepped into the room. He was tall, his tailored suit emphasizing his lean, powerful frame. Silver hair gleamed under the soft lighting, but it was his eyes that held her captive—dark, intense, and unreadable. The air shifted, thickening with an electric charge. Jade’s wolf stirred violently, a surge of recognition and yearning that left her reeling. Jade’s voice was a shocked whisper. “Mate.” Kael Silvershade, the Alpha of the Pearlescent Pack and CEO of Silvershade Ventures, stopped a few paces from her. His piercing gaze swept over her, taking in every detail. Kael felt the bond slam into him like a tidal wave, the unmistakable pull of a mate. But the realization brought anger, not joy. His jaw tightened as he forced himself to remain composed. A rogue? The Moon Goddess had paired him with a rogue? After everything that happened with his father… The guards to her side shifted in shock but remained silent and stoic in front of their Alpha. “You should know,” Kael began, his tone measured but firm, “this pack does not typically allow rogues to join. Your kind is too risky.” The bluntness of his words stung, but Jade squared her shoulders, refusing to let him see her falter. “But, you’re bold,” he said, his voice smooth yet laced with an edge. “I’ll give you that. That alone, however, won’t earn you a place here.” Kassian, Kael’s wolf, growled uncontrollably. Accept our mate, foolish human. We need to hold her now, don’t you see how much she’s been through? Kael, however, controlled his emotions masterfully as he always had and pushed his wolf’s thoughts away. Jade tilted her chin upward, fighting to ignore the magnetic pull between them. “Then tell me what will. I know I belong here.” She only hoped that none of her uncertainty leaked through as she said that. A faint smile ghosted across Kael’s lips, though it didn’t reach his eyes. “Strength. Loyalty. And the ability to follow orders.” He stepped closer, his presence overwhelming. “Everything a rogue isn’t. Trust me, I’d know.” A flash of darkness passed in his eyes, quickly dissipating behind his calculating stare. “I can, and will be. I’m not like what you think.” The words left her mouth with more conviction than she felt. She couldn’t afford to show weakness. Kael studied her for a moment longer, his internal struggle hidden beneath a mask of indifference. The mate bond burned at the edges of his resolve, but he pushed it aside. He wouldn’t let the Goddess’s choice derail his responsibilities. He didn’t want to let her stay, but the fact she was his mate complicated the situation. He seethed, hating that he couldn’t bring himself to reject her right then and there, although he didn’t know what was stopping him. He turned on his heel. “We’ll see. Follow me.” As Jade followed him deeper into his office, her mind raced. She didn’t know what awaited her or how she’d navigate the bond now thrumming between them. She clenched her fists, determined not to dwell on it. But the ache lingered, a reminder that even though she’d found her mate, she was still very much alone.
