Chapter 8: The Children’s Story Book

"Is that true? Oh! Madam, I'm ecstatic for your daughter. " I said it with a smile on my face. I can't tell her that Takahashi is the guy her daughter likes. "Actually, we don't want to force Saki into an arranged marriage; instead, we want her to be able to choose the man she wants to marry and live with for the rest of her life," she explained. Saki's mother is lovely, and the fact that she offers her daughter freedom makes me happy for her. She inquired, "Are you the guy she likes?" I entirely spit out the tea I was sipping, and the guards brandished their swords at me because of my bad behavior. She looked at me and asked, "Would you like to marry my daughter and be the heir of our clan?".

"Madam, you are mistaken," I responded with sincerity as I bowed my head. She grabbed my hand, as if pleading with me to like her daughter, and stated, "Kindly, young man. I understand my daughter is difficult to cope with, but I feel he genuinely cares about you. It will be really difficult for her to let go of you. Marrying my daughter will not be a bad bargain because you will inherit all of our assets". Her mother mistook me for the man that she adores. Accepting this offer would be disastrous, especially if Saki had just awoken and discovered that I would be her fiancé, so I must be truthful. "Please accept my apology." "You are mistaken Madam, I am not the boy your daughter adores," I begged forgiveness.

"Is that correct?" she inquired. "But yeah, I believe your daughter has already chosen someone she loves. Sorry I can't accept your offer, "I answered, looking her in the eyes. "I'm sorry if I can't name who she likes because I believe she should be the one to inform you about him," I explained. "You are a fantastic friend to my daughter. Please take care of her, especially when she is with the man she likes, "the lady added, smiling and touching my head. "I will, thank you for your trust and understanding," I said, bowing my head and placing my hand on my chest. She takes a step forward and all of her guards lay down their swords. "You should relax now, gentleman," she said. "You can rest in one of our rooms."

One of their maids assisted me in finding a suitable room. Their hall is quite attractive and resembles a castle. We took the very large stairs to the upper floor. While traveling to the stairwell, I came upon a portrait of Saki when she was a teenager. Her hair is really long, and it suits her well. "Here, sir," the maid said with a bow. She said, "Please enjoy your stay in our mansion." "I will, and I appreciate your help," I said. The room is quite large, and the curtains are stunning. It's like if I'm a royal living in a palace. The bed is also quite large for a single individual. The designs on the bed linens, lights, and closet are quite stunning.  I believe this is my first time sleeping in a mansion of this caliber. I spread my arms and tumbled onto the bed. Wow, this bed is quite comfy. I try to sleep by closing my eyes. What a fantastic day we've had. Takahashi and Saki are two people I'm grateful I met. A lot of things seem to happen, and I need to rest and prepare for the next day.

 A ray of sunlight wakes me up. When I tried to open my eyes, I noticed a maid moving the curtain. "I'm sorry, did I wake you up?" she apologized as she bowed her head. "No, no, you didn't wake me up, so it's alright," I stated. I heard a bell ringing as it approached my front door. "The meal is ready sir, you may proceed now to the dining table," remarked by another maid, who rang a bell. I get up and wash my face so I may present a presentable face to Saki's mother. When I arrived at the dining table, I was bemused. What?! Their dining table is 15 meters long. Her mother said, "Take a seat, mister, and enjoy the cuisine."

 "Can you tell me where Saki is?" I asked. "According to the maids, she is still sleeping, so I assume she is still struggling with a hangover. Did you guys have a drink the night before? ", she enquired. I felt bad about encouraging them to drink. "Yes, we do consume small amounts of alcoholic beverages. It's just a simple victory party for us, "I stated. I lied. Oh, my goodness. I made them drink a lot, which is why they were so tipsy, but it was only a modest amount of alcohol for me. "That's why," she explained, "my daughter has never consumed an alcoholic beverage before, but that's fine because she is already an adult girl."

 We heard a girl shouting extremely loudly and approaching us. She slammed her hand on the table, and it was Saki. Her mother responded, "Have some manners, we have a visitor." "You scare me, Saki," I said. "I don't care, then die with your pants wet," she says, her murderous eyes on me. Oh, my goodness, this girl is heartless. While eating the meal, her mother warned her, "Don't be like that to your friend." "Friend?! This isn't one of my friends! You've been duped by him! ", she screamed. Saki rejected me as a friend in front of her mother, and I was hurt, but I didn't care. She grips my wrist and prevents me from eating. "Hey, stop," I said. "Did my mother say anything to you last night?" she asked angrily.

 "Your mother just asked me if I'd like to marry you," I said while laughing quietly. "What?! What's your response?! ", she screamed. I tried to make a joke by saying, "Of course, I said yes." She choked my neck so hard that I almost puked up the food I was eating. "How dare you?!" she exclaimed angrily. Her mother yelled, "Guards!" Saki is being stopped by ten guards. Consider how many guards it would take to stop a small girl. "Hey, I'm just kidding, I was only joking. Why are you being so heartless to me?" I asked, pretending to be the victim. "I despise him! Please leave our mansion! "She screamed angrily. "No, young man, you must remain here. He was a visitor to my home. ", her mother said.

 Her mother commanded, "Sit down!" Saki's murderous eyes kept on staring at me. Oh, my goodness, it seems like she's cutting my flesh in her thoughts. "Hey, don't stare at me like that," I told her. "Mother, believe me when I say this man is not my friend," she insisted. You don't have to reject me in front of your mother several times. "But that man brought you here in the middle of the night because you were really inebriated," her mother explained. Saki was going to choke me once more, but the guards intervened. "How could you let a man like him carry me?" she exclaimed angrily.

"You left the mansion without informing the guards, so we don't know where you are," her mother explained. She looks at the guards with her arms crossed. "I don't want to be surrounded by security guards! I want to be free! ", she screamed. "We understand, which is why we provide you with the independence you desire. Now sit down and enjoy your breakfast, "her mother expressed. Even though she sits, we can sense that she is enraged. She began eating her food, but whenever she noticed me looking at her, she gave me a cold stare and rolled her eyes. Oh wow, I'm curious as to how Takahashi met this girl. I recall her saying last night that Takahashi is seen as a devil by others. What does Saki mean by that?

Saki finished her dinner quickly and walked away without saying hi to any of us. She simply stood and walked away like a madwoman. This young lady has no idea how to behave properly. Her mother is a wonderful person, yet she acts like a child. Her mother said, "Please excuse my daughter's behavior." "Oh no, Madam, you don't have to say that." I stated. "Does she have any other siblings?" I asked. Her mother stated, "She is our only child." I can tell she's pleased to have Saki as a daughter by the expression on her face. "Saki is quite skilled at executing her ninja skills, and we can tell she has ninja blood running through her veins. I'm always proud of her accomplishments. She began displaying tremendous agility and skill when she was quite young, "she said.

As she speaks, I continue to pay attention to her. "But, as you can see, her father isn't around. Her father is extremely preoccupied with the management of our clan. Saki's first disappointment came when she discovered that her father despised her, "she stated. "Did her father despise her? Why does he despise Saki so much? " I inquired. Despite Saki's demeanor, I can tell she had a difficult childhood. "Saki is always trying to impress her father, but he never seems impressed with her. Saki's father has always despised her because she was born as a female. Her father believes that our family will be embarrassed if we don't have a son, "she clarifies. Saki's father must be a complete moron. Why didn't he see that his daughter was more powerful than the majority of the boys?

"Saki is still blessed because she has a great mother like you who is constantly proud of her," I remarked, bowing to Saki's mother. "You are a very kind man," she says, smiling. "I wish you were the man my daughter adores." Oh, please, I'm so relieved that I'm not that dude. If her daughter becomes my bride, I believe she will chop my flesh if I make a mistake. "The guy Saki likes is a very amazing man, so let's wish Saki luck in love," I added with a smile. "Could you tell me where Saki is right now?" I asked. "I believe she is in the library of our mansion. Don't worry, our maid will show you the way, "she stated. Before I go, I bow my head once more and say "thank you."

Saki’s POV

I eat my dinner quickly so that I don't have to share the air with this fellow named Yuu. I stood up and walked away without saying goodbye. I'm pissed at seeing this man, and I don't trust him. I suppose Takahashi senses something about him that he hides from everyone. This guy irritates me to no end. I still have a hangover from that dumb man forcing us to drink liquor and rejoice with him. My blood is boiling and I need to cool down. Perhaps I should go to the library and practice some spells and magic. I walk into the library and am fortunate that there is no maid present, so I can concentrate on practicing. I got a book and began chanting.

I concentrate by closing my eyes. I can feel the heat rising from my palm, and I can see a ball of fire forming above my hand. Finally, I'm beginning to learn how to make fire balls. "Hey!" said a man as he pushed open the library's door. I begin to lose concentration, and the fireball falls into my hand. "Ouch!" I screamed. The fire ball fell on the table and was going to start a fire, so I panicked and slammed the book against it. Fortunately, I was able to put out the fire, and it is now out. "Wow! You know how to cast magic? " Yuu asked. Yuu is the person who interrupted me. "Are you insane?! You nearly burned down the entire mansion while I was practicing magic! " I screamed.

"Oh, please! It's not a big deal, it's just a tiny fire, "he stated. A small fire?! Oh, this guy is a bit of a nuisance. He's making an attempt to offend me. "Are you trying to make fun of me by saying it's just a little fire?" I screamed. "No way! That's not what I mean, "he said. Although the fireball is modest, it has the potential to burst and burn an entire settlement. This individual has no idea what he is talking about. "Wow! Even your library is enormous and contains a large number of books, "he exclaimed. "Stupid! I'll go out if you don't get out! " I screamed. "Hey, you know you can practice while I'm here, and I swear I'll be quiet!" he answered. "Whatever! I'm finished! I'm going out right now! "I stated.

I took a step forward and began looking for the book shelf where I found this magical book. When this man departed the mansion, I felt I'd go back to practicing magic. He got to his feet and began staring at the books on the shelves. "Hmm, this appears to be intriguing. In your library, you'll find story books! I assumed it only contained a few odd facts about magic and spells, "he stated. He chose a book that he thought seemed fascinating. He acts like he owns my library, which frustrates me. I commanded, "Put that book back on the shelf!" "Wait! I'll just return it later, "he stated. "Wow, look at this book," he exclaimed as he read from the book. "It is about a lightning arrow produced by the lightning God."

Takahashi's lightning arrow, which he developed in the previous fight, struck me as odd. No one knows what a lightning arrow looks like and no one has ever seen one in person, so it's possible that I'm mistaken in thinking Takahashi created them. "This book is amusing, and I believe it is merely a children's narrative. This isn't like the other lightning God books I've read. The lightning God is depicted as a loving God here, although in reality, he is a very nasty and thoughtless God according to other historical texts, "he said.

I was curious about the book Yuu had, so I approached him and pretended to be uninterested. "Give me that book," I say, taking the book from him and attempting to read some of the contents. It is, after all, about a lightning God who can summon a lightning arrow. I'm intrigued as to who wrote the books, and I can see that it's just a storybook with legends to entertain children. "Are you a moron? Because this is a children's book, it features a fictional legend to keep the children entertained. Don't be surprised if the lightning God is depicted as a loving God because, as I already stated, this is a children's book, "I stated.

I was about to put the book back on the shelf where Yuu got it when I decided to look at the last page. This book is quite old, and I doubt that it can't be found in any other library. I reached the book's final page and saw a portrait of the author. The author appears to be a recognized face. I believe I recognize the author. I took a closer look at the author since it reminded me of someone I know. When I realized who the author was, I got goosebumps. I dash back to the shelf to return the book. No one else should have access to that book ever.
