(Callum) There were very few things capable of ruining my day before noon. Unfortunately, faculty meetings were one of them. By eleven-thirty, I had already listened to three separate arguments regarding conference funding, two complaints about laboratory scheduling, and one truly remarkable debate about printer usage that somehow lasted longer than most relationships. Needless to say, my patience was suffering. The meeting finally ended just before lunch. I left the conference room carrying a folder filled with notes I had absolutely no intention of reading immediately and headed toward the research wing. The hallways were crowded. Students moved between lectures while professors attempted to maintain the illusion that everything was under control. A losing battle. As usual. I
