PROLOGUE
Long ago, in the clan of Hermadale, lived strong, viscous and ruthless people. The Alpha, alpha Xenon, the most powerful and ruthless Alpha of that time, didn't relent to wage wars against his neighboring clans. He wanted to be the most feared alpha of that time. And he got what he desired as he killed and killed. Clans feared his clan members, even the alpha's of the neighboring clans gave in to whatever request he put up to them. They had already lost enough blood to engage.
He loved his mate. He truly did. But he failed to do right by her. He committed a grave wrong to himself, his mate and the prophecies. And because of his mate's curse, Alpha Xenon and his clan would suffer the consequences.
Alpha Xenon grunted in ecstacy. His mate always took him so well between her thighs. He exceptionally loved how her t**s bounced as she twisted her hips, making sure he hit every part of her tiny hole. He loved the chills it sent to his spine. He loved his mate or he just loved the s*x. Maybe, just not enough to do anything for her. Anything, especially about an heir.
Not long after their mating ceremony, Sarah became pregnant. Sarah felt it, the negative energy as she rubbed her protruding belly. She should born anyday from now. She was ripe enough. Somehow, she knew it would be a girl. She loved the idea of having a girl, but not her mate. Somehow, she noticed how he called the unborn baby the next alpha, never did he once called her a Luna. But she smiled. This was all just in her mind, she thought. Her Xenon, was a rightful leader. Somehow, Sarah chose to become blind to Xenon's wrong doings. He did what he thought best, to her.
As she spread her thighs under the heavy clothing, preparing to give birth on a particular day, she was confused and frustrated when Xenon ordered all the maids out. He said he would deliver the baby himself. The alpha was more than up to the task. He was skilled in herbs and medicine.
But deep down, Sarah knew why. Her heart thundered in her rib cage as his actions confirmed her suspicions. Her eyes darkened with fear and hatred for her mate at that point. A girl or a boy, the child was still hers and hers alone. Alpha Xenon's skilled hands helped her deliver the baby and much to his dismay, it was a girl. A beautiful baby girl with enchanting eyes. Green, just like his. He squeezed his eyes shut as he looked up and stared at his mate, who had closed her eyes from the exhaustion. He prayed a silent prayer to thank the moon for the secrecy. He held the little bundle of sadness to his chest and appreciated the baby's silence. "It was much better this way." He thought.
Within a second, he concocted a plan in his smart head. He would say the baby was born without life. It was much better than telling his people his mate had born a female.
Females didn't give men status, according to them, it took away their status, rather. Only if his mate had born a male.
He sighed as he looked at the baby. Even with closed eyes, her beauty was evident. But this wasn't relevant to him. He held her with his left arm as he slowly wrapped his right hand around her neck. The baby's eyes shot open and he lost his nerve, his courage. His eyes warmed up with tears of sadness and frustration. For a second, he thought of giving in, raising her and making her a luna, but he didn't want to be looked down on. He couldn't. Alpha Xenon was strong, but he was a coward.
With one last glance at his now sleeping mate, he gently opened the door and left. He proceeded to his chamber and wrapped several warm sheets around her. He appreciated the fact the baby was a silent one.
Xenon waited for just the right time at midnight, when the corridors grew more quiet before slipping out. He held the tiny bundle in his cloak and walked out with purpose. His people knew better than to look at the ruthless Alpha, especially those without rank. People glanced his way, but not nearly enough to know where he was going to. He had a strong plan and he knew it would work. He would only inform them in the morning of his baby's death. In time of sadness, none would bother asking for the gender. Not at all.
The guards on duty nodded respectfully as the Alpha exited the clans main gate. They knew better than to question where their Alpha was going to. Xenon walked and walked under the moon until he reached the border he dared not cross to. The Levelland clan.
The Alpha was full of negative energy but he certainly could'nt kill his own daughter. His heart might be made of steel, but he certainly couldn't kill his daughter or better of, bury her alive. He sighed. This decision was much easier to make. He chose the right one, he told himself. As he removed his daughter, who wasn't opportuned to have a taste of her mother's sweet milk from his hold, he felt a tad bit guilty. Just a tad bit. He touched the soil with his palms. It was cold. He felt for the baby but he was much more concerned about himself. In that second, he knelt dow and placed her gently on the soil.
As if she knew, her eyes opened up and stared at him with sadness. Or maybe it was just his thinking. Maybe it was all in his head. But how could he? He did the only thing he could do for his baby. He reached beneath his clothing and removed his pendant. The pendant that was passed down from generation to generation. The pendant that contained the symbol of the Hermadales. He couldn't deny his daughter that. She was a Hermadale. Somehow he prayed she would come back to Hermadale one day as he wrapped the pendant around her neck securely under the covers.
He stood up and without looking back, walked in the opposite way, back to Hermadale. Xenon forgot about the consequences that could happen. His moment of greed blinded him.
Little did he know, the moon destined for the child to live and become someone much greater than him. A life much more satisfactory than the life he had ever lived and will continue to live.
Sarah didn't believe the words from her mate's mouth. Her tender breasts said it all. She didn't believe she had given birth to a dead male. Her baby was healthy and alive. She knew it. She felt it. Her breasts ached to suckle her child. She cried over and over again but to no avail.
The people of Hermadale were in mourning. Believing the Luna had just lost their future Alpha. The environment was sad and quiet.
A few days after, the Luna fell ill. She cried day and night for her child. Loud unheard pleas. She died a few days after that, leaving her mate.
Alpha Xenon endured the pain he felt. It hurt him so deeply, he almost regretted his wrong actions against his daughter. This was his only punishment, he thought. How wrong he was. This was just the starting point.
Somwhere in the clan of Levelland, Rachael held the most beautiful baby girl she had ever seen. Her sad eyes looked at the baby with longing and amazement. The baby's eyes, so green, skin so smooth and hair, the color of fire. She was truly an angel.
Her husband, Rafael had come home with the baby. Her husband, Rafael who was a night guard at the border. The two had always wanted a child and when the moon blessed them with one, Rachael wasn't able to keep it. She birthed to a pre mature lifeless baby yesterday and they were still in mourning.
Rachael's hands froze when her fingers hooked on the pendant. She would know that symbol anywhere, with its meaning.
"Rafael?" She called out. Did he have any idea how powerful this baby was? Her hands started to shake as she walked towards the main cottage, with the baby in her arms, still griping the pendant. If she was right, then the father of this child would wage a thousand wars to find his child. He would kill till he was satisfied and this wasn't enough to risk everything they had for.
Rafael was alarmed. He knew his wife was nervous from her voice. One look at her and he knew something was definitely wrong.
"Rachael? Whatever is the matter?" He asked. Truth be told Rafael had his fears too. Especially where the baby was concerned. Rafael knew whose baby it was. He couldn't mistake the face of the most ruthless Alfa in his life. The Alpha who was responsible for taking a lot of lives in Levelland. He hadn't planned on telling his mate, but now he would have to. One look at Rachael and he knew she had found out somehow.
Rafael sighed as he looked down to what Rachael was pointing out at him. How he managed to miss that important action of the Alpha placing the pendant on the baby, he didn't know. But now, it was all out. Nothing is truly hidden under the sun.
Rafael shushed his wife quietly as he gave the little cottage a cursory glance. This wasn't a matter to be discussed freely. If the Alpha of Levelland or any subject in Levelland was to find out about this, then this child would sufer for her father's mistake for many lost some dearest to them, especially the Alpha, who watched his daughter get murdered by Xenon. Therefore if the Alpha was to know about this, he wouldn't hesitate to take a knife down the baby's abdomen.
"Yes. She's a Hermadale. Alpha Xenon dropped her himself towards the border. I saw it." Raphael confessed in hushed tones.
Rachael closed her eyes. This couldn't be happening. They would kill them all. "We have to take her back."
"No, we can't." Raphael argued. "You're not listening, Rachael! The alpha abandoned her. And we both know why. "
Words didn't need to be spoken for the evidence was true. He abandoned his baby for she was a female, a luna, not a future Alpha. The Hermadales ways were not as secretive as the Alpha thought it was. Every clan knew about it. The Hermadales hadly had Lunas.
"Alpha Xenon was truly disgusting." Rachael thought. He would choose to kill his daughter for his image.
"We don't have a child, Rachael. We just buried ours yesterday. The moon placed me there for a reason. I believe it. This is a gift to us. We should accept and cherish it, for we don't know the fruits that will come along with it. "
It was true. Everything was destined. This was the moon's doing. It had to be.
"And we can't abandon this baby. My love, her lips are blue already. I doubt she had a taste of milk since she was birthed and you never had a chance to suckle our child. Let's raise this baby as ours." Raphael reasoned.
Rachel felt her eyes swell with tears and sadness. The little baby was indeed hungry and very patient. Her green eyes opened up and looked at her with hope. Rachael felt her breasts swell with more milk as she stared at the baby's blue mouth. Without a word, Rachael went to a nearby chair and sat down. She undid her gown and tenderly held her heavy right breast to the baby's mouth. As the baby wrapped her lips around the n****e, Rachael cried out loud in sadness, fulfillment and waves of love.
"Jade. Her name is Jade." Rachael croaked out.
Raphael went to wrap his arms around his family. This wasn't a wrong decision. The baby will live and have shelter and they will have a child they always wished for. This was everything they had ever wanted. They were broken when Rachael gave birth to a pre mature dead baby. Now, they shall channel their loss into love for this new baby.
Jade. Their Jade.
