Michael drove Irina to her apartment and parked while she went inside.
As soon as he was alone, he tried to phone Ceinwen. Her phone had been disconnected. It didn’t surprise him. Somehow, he had to find her, but knowing her, she could be anywhere in the world at this point.
Frustrated that there was nothing he could do at the moment, he watched for Irina in the rearview mirror and soon saw her and Zoe step from the apartment building, each with a suitcase, and followed by Tavas. The man was clearly enraged, waving his arms and speaking angrily, then jumped in front of Irina, stopping her. She paused, listening, but then grabbed Zoe’s arm and hurried around him.
Michael got out of the car and helped her put the bags in the trunk as Tavas paced angrily in the distance.
