Chapter 29
The day after the workers from town built walkways over the opening to the chapel to make it safe from collapse, Yakiv Koval was the first to go down into the opening.
Koval soon called Michael to join him. Michael could see the look of disgust on Veronika’s face. The woman clearly didn’t like him being there. But he went down the rope ladder they had decided to use.
Michael found himself and Koval in the center of a large circular chamber, typical of those the Knights Templar had built. It was much larger than either of them had expected, with a diameter of about twenty feet.
“I wonder what this room was used for,” Koval said. “Chapel? Fortress? Something else?”
