Chapter 25
Kira Holt was getting ready for bed. Bedtime had become her favorite, as her back tended to give out after hours of sitting on an office chair listening to her patients talk about their lives and day-to-day difficulties.
In truth, she felt lucky to have been allowed to return to work as a psychiatrist after the FBI fired her from her profiling job. She didn’t like having been let go, but at the same time, most of those profiling cases were the stuff of nightmares, and not the sort of thing she should be dealing with at this time in her life. She especially didn’t want to take memories of crazed killers home with her.
She had joined an established team of doctors and her business picked up quickly. Also, she was heartened when a number of her former patients came back to her.
