The tension in the room was so thick one could cut it with a knife. Cane glanced at Maya and then back at the Alpha. He couldn't believe that what he had feared was actually happening. He could feel fear rising within him, but it wasn't for himself, it was for Maya. He was scared for her, for what might happen to her. He didn't care about what would happen to him at the moment.
