The meet
As the night casts it's shadows over Raven town and all that it holds dear, so did Maya's anger touch everything that she came across. She couldn't believe that for the third time that week, it had happened again. With each step made forcefully, she increased her pace as she aimed for the front door of the pack house.
She tied her strawberry blonde hair up into a bun and straightened her denim jacket before pushing the double door wide open. Coming face to face with every member of her father's pack gathered at the main hall with three beheaded wolves laid out in front of them.
Maya shut her eyes in anger before proceeding to where her father was. She glanced from the bodies to her father. “Again?"
“It's a never ending war" Alpha Victor replied with his crooked and husky voice. His arms crossed behind him as he tried to process the bodies they have gotten for the third time that week.
“We have to retaliate" One of the Betas spoke up amidst the gathering.
“Let's not make it a full blown out war just yet" The Alpha replied
“So what do we do now?" Maya questioned with a concerned look. “You know we'll look weak if we don't retaliate or make a move. We can't just keep letting him get the better of us"
“Yeah I know....which is why we are gonna have a sit down with him first and find out what he wants before knowing what we are gonna do" He explained
“A sit down?! He's an animal" Another Beta shouted
“And animals can be tamed given what they want. We'll give them a befitting burial and then we'll invite them over" The Alpha concluded and walked away with Maya walking behind him.

Staring out the window from where he sat, Alpha Diamond kept tapping his foot on the floor rapidly. He couldn't get his eyes off the half moon shining bright as it helped him ease into his thoughts. His long brown hair dropped to his eyes, blurring his vision a bit. He heaved a deep sigh and bit his lower lip. “What's on your mind AD?" Cane asked walking into the Alpha's private room and standing next to his seat.
“Nothing" The Alpha cleared his throat.
“Come on now. You're only like this when something is troubling you" He pointed out, running his fingers through his thick black hair.
“Well you know me so well...maybe you can figure it out"
“You're challenging me?" Cane asked with a smile
“Yeah" He adjusted on his seat, turning to face Cane. “Read me and tell me what's bothering me"
“Okay" Cane stood properly with a smirk as he fixed his gaze on the Alpha. He stared at him intently with the Alpha staring back. Cane scoffed lightly and then crossed his arms. “You're not too worried about what we did, no, with the deep look you have it's something more personal...." He paused. “It's about finding your mate" He concluded.
“Damn it!" the Alpha hit the arm of the chair. “How do you keep doing that?" He laughed
“I guess I'm just good at reading people" Cane shrugged
“Or maybe it's because you know I've been getting worried about it lately"
”Maybe" He smiled as the Alpha offered him a free seat to sit on. They both sat in silence, watching the moon through the open window. Cane exhaled slowly and then glanced at his Alpha's worried face. “You don't have to get worried over it you know?! There are plenty girls out there who would happily let you claim them if you don't find your mate" He explained
“Yeah I know. But a mate is everything you know?!, It's what is meant to be. It's the connection every wolf craves"
“Yeah true. So is love"
“What do you mean?" The Alpha asked with furrowed brows
“I mean, Love and Mate can be two different things. You can have a mate and not love her. You can love someone and wouldn't want a mate anymore, being content the just love. You get what I mean?"
“Maybe. But a mate is supernatural. Love is natural, just chemical" Said the Alpha
“Well whatever one is better, you'll find it soon"
“And what about you? Don't you want a mate? Don't you want to fall in love? You have never been involved with any girl as far as I know"
“Love is stressful. Having a Mate is a big ass commitment that I'm not ready for" Cane smiled
“And here you are advising me on love"
“Well, an Alpha needs a Luna" He smiled

“So what? We send word out to them for a meet? I still think this is a bad idea. They've been pushing up on us, oppressing us and we are just gonna sit and listen to whatever they demand?! You know this is not right father. This isn't the move we should be making" Maya explained with anger in her voice.
“Yeah but it's the only move at the moment. We can't afford to go to war. We don't have the men nor the advantage. All we can do now is try to survive until we are ready to fight back" The Alpha replied
“And what if they demand what we can't offer? Then what?" She crossed her arms.
“Then we find a way to make it work....like it or not, we are at their mercy"
“Damn it!" She cursed, sitting down across from her father
“It's gonna work out. Now, send word to them and let's hope they agree to meet"

“What is this?" Cane asked taking the letter from one of the Betas of their pack. He opened up the letter and examined the content. “It's fine, I got it from here" He said to the Beta before shutting the door. He turned reading the letter.
“What is that?" Alpha Diamond asked with a glass of whiskey in his hands.
“It's a letter from Alpha Victor... He wants a sit down with you, to find a way to end the war" He explained
“We are not interested" The Alpha waved it off.
“Ermm... yeah we are. This is what we needed, a chance to get what we want with less work. We meet them and lay out our terms" Cane suggested
“And what if they don't agree?"
“Then it's all the same. We lose nothing. They agree, we gain more, they don't, then we continue with the war. We can gain a lot from this"
Alpha Diamond thought about it and then sighed. “Fine, set it up... but let's be on guard. There's a chance it might be a trap also"
“Yeah of course" Cane replied, folding the letter.

Alpha Victor stood in front of the door restless. He knew there were so many ways the meeting could go wrong. He heard the sound of a car pulling up in front of the pack house. It was time. It was time and Maya was nowhere to be found. He looked around and she wasn't on sight. “Where the hell is she?" He whispered to the Beta standing next to him.
“She's almost here"
“She better be here. I need her here" He replied just as they heard footsteps approaching. “Here we go. Everyone should be on high alert" He instructed just before the door burst open.
“It's good to see you again Alpha Victor" Alpha Diamond said with a smug look walking up to him.
“I can't say the same" the Alpha replied
“Well then, shall we begin"
