Joe in Denial
I was a planned ten minutes late getting upstairs in Tower #3. Joe met me at the elevator door and ushered me in to a table near the bar. We were the only ones there. “Thanks for coming, Stephanie. I have been looking for Melanie and Candace to apologize for last night, but I can’t find either of them.”
“Your plans should include Elise in your apologies as well.”
“I wasn’t with her last night.”
“Neither was Candace, her lover.”
“I see. So now they are all angry at me?”
“I wouldn’t say that, more like disappointed. They all thought they knew you and your actions took them by surprise.”
“How do you know that?”
“Because they all slept with us last night. We talked.”
“All of them? I suspected Melanie went back to you but Candace and Elise?”
“Yes, Joe.”
