She pulled the closet door, and there he was, standing in his guard suit; Dave.
“Wow!” Khardi giggled, pulling Dave gently out of the closet. “Look who's in love.”
“It's not what you think Ma,” Celene stuttered.
“Oh. It is exactly what I think. Lonely maid, flogged and bruised, invites her lover into her room to help her ease the pain!”
“Please, Ma,”
“Hush it my darling Scarface, you don't need to beg for privacy besides that's what Dave came in here for.” She turned to Dave whose eyes were darting in fear, “Isn't it, Dave?”
“I have no idea Ma
She was the one who invited me here.”
“We're saying the same thing. I'd leave you both right away. Have fun!”
She walked out of the room.
The duo exchanged glances.
“Made your choice yet?” Celene smirked as she moved closer to Dave.
“It's a difficult one, Elen.”
Celene ran her fingers across Dave's chest.
“I could give you more time but there are conditions.”
“I don't want to help you for money, Elen…
I really…”
Celene hushed him, her thumb caressing Dave's lips.
“Come back when you've made a choice.”
Dave nodded and walked towards the door, stealing glances at Celene at intervals.
“Don't forget the rules too.”
He nodded again and exited the room.
“What was that about?” Seth dashed out of the closet. “Why was there a man in your closet?”
“Aren't you glad he was there?” She bit her lower lip.
“Don't do that Elen. I saw the way you touched him,”
“Ahh…”
Celene shut her eyes, sniffing in with a smile.
Seth raised a brow.
“The sweet smell of jealousy emitting from you,” she moved closer to Seth.
“I could just eat you up right here,”
Her lips, moving closer to Seth’.
Seth leaned in, those lips had tempted him enough. Right before their lips touched…
“Your fiancée has been searching for you for a while now,”
Seth rolled his eyes.
“You have to go meet her.”
“Oh. Yeah.”
He dropped the towel and exited the room without looking back.
Whatever games Elen was up to, he would surely get to the bottom of it.
Why would she get to tease him anytime she wants and walk away so easily… like he was some toy.
“There you are!” Celene giggled as soon as he got into the study. “Where have you been?”
“I honestly do not like what you did to that lady.”
“Lady? Seth, she's a maid!”
“That doesn't give you the right to inflict injuries on her!”
“Seth,” she tried to touch his shoulder but he shoved her aside.
She chuckled.
“I'm beginning to think that you're overreacting.
This isn't the first time I'm punishing a maid yet this one is the only one you choose to nag about,”
“I'm nagging right?”
“Of course.”
“Go ahead and give her another scar.”
“Are you threatening me, Seth?”
He walked to his desk like she wasn't there.
“After all my father has done for you?
Are you forgetting who my father is?
You dare threaten me because of a maid, Seth.
I'd give her more scars
Let hell break loose!”
Seth sighed.
“Khardi.l,” he called out softly.
“What?” She snapped.
“That's not how you should respond to me.”
“Then it's you who has a right to speak to me in whatever manner you choose?”
“I'm sorry. I shouldn't have spoken to you in such a manner.
I guess I took out my day's stress on you.”
“But you didn't take out the anger on that Scarface,” she pouted, staring at the other side of the room.
“I'm sorry, my baby.”
“So you don't have an eye for Scarface?”
He shook his head.
“I mean she's a mere maid,” she smiled, moving towards Seth.
“She's human,” he replied as he opened her arms for her to sit on his lap.
“Whatever…” she muttered as she threw herself into his arms.
Seth turned his head away; her perfume combination had never suited his senses and she refused all the feminine collection he got her.
“Two hundred thousand in my account by tomorrow. I need to sort something out.”
“Another business?”
She laughed.
“What kind of business am I supposed to start with two hundred thousand dollars?”
“Well
Because the last time you asked me for money
It was for a business you didn't want your dad to know about.”
“Oh…”
“Yeah.
How's the business?”
“Seth! It's just a month old… It's still growing.”
“Alright.
A cup of coffee please?”
She rose from his lap.
“That's what you always say when you want me to leave your space.”
“Don't put that on me.
You find my books boring so you prefer to stay buried in the pool.”
“Do you still write?”
“I was referring to the books I read.”
“Lucky you,” she giggled. “I would have told your godmother about it and laughed as she would scold you.”
“Is that supposed to be a surprise? You're terrible at it.”
She laughed harder as she moved towards the door.
“About the money, how about you just take cash from my suitcase. I might forget to send the money by tomorrow.”
“You wouldn't dare,” she replied, shutting the door behind her.
Seth hesitated for a moment after the door shut.
Then, slowly, he reached for his pen from the pen rack.
He paused when he felt something not similar to the sturdy nature of pens; a fabric.
He pulled the familiar fabric out.
“How could I be so careless to have kept Celene's panties here?”
He sniffed it, shutting his eyes as the memories of the previous evening flooded his senses.
“Why don't you just call her in if you miss her that much!”
A feminine voice rang from the entrance.
