Chapter Fourteen
“Michelle, come here.”
Arthur had been standing waiting for orders when Frieda summoned him. He went immediately to her side.
“Yes, Miss Frieda, how may I serve you?” he asked.
“I have a new trainee who I want you to mentor,” she said.
Arthur was dumbfounded. This had never been done. Train another maid? He was at a loss and it showed in his bearing.
“Her name is Candice and she has only been through orientation,” Frieda said.
Arthur couldn’t help but shuddering at the thought of the horrors of orientation. Hours of starvation, sleep deprivation, standing on tiptoes and being caned for any and all infractions or just because they could.
