Queen of His Heart

Love can not be seen but it can be felt.But in this case, love is not believed neither could it be felt because of an unforgettable experience Daniel, a successful young businessman went through. It all started when he was in high school and fell in love with Berky, a very beautiful daughter of a billionaire. Berky being the only daughter of her parents, was over pampered which made her to do anything she wanted whether bad or not. All she found interest in were far away from school and it's activities. She could miss school anytime or any day just to attend a party. What made this very sad was that, her father knew nothing about his daughter's behavior due to the nature of his business. Berky was staying alone with her mother and servants in a very big mansion. She had everything on a silver platter and so she needed not to work like her age mates. Daniel on the other side was not as lucky as Berky, he had to work after school to make money to support his mother in taking care of his little siblings. Daniel lost his father at a delicate age through a very fatal accident on his way home after a business trip. The family of his father abandoned them and took away all the property Mr. Wingson had including those he made with Anna his wife. This meant that Anna had to go back to square one and start life afresh. She had to toil to get a capital in order to start a little business so she could get food for the five children including Daniel left behind by their father. Daniel being the first child also had to start working so as to support his mother. Life became so miserable and unbearable for them. Before Daniel entered high school, he had worked almost everywhere that workers were needed so he could get enough money for school and was still working even when he was in school. All this time, his schoolmates knew nothing about how he hustled before he could survive. These struggles did not hinder Daniel from studying hard and becoming one of the best students. Adam's Scholar High School was one of the best High Schools in New York City and Berky managed to get admitted into it. One early morning while the students were in class, a beautiful lady together with this fine and gentle looking man who happened to be her father appeared in Daniel's class and the girl was introduced as the new student in Adam's Scholar High School.Her name was Berky Grumdig. From the day Berky started schooling in Adam's Scholar High School, Daniel had a very big crush on her to the extent that he could not focus in class more like he used to do for about a month. He always dreamt of Berky, thought of Berky and even smelt Berky. He finally decided to approach Berky and ask her whether she would be his friend because he had no friends in school. Berky reluctantly accepted his request. As time went on, they got closer and closer making the students and even the teachers think they were lovers which was not so. Berky was not academically good so Daniel always helped her and in no time, Berky began to pickup everything taught in class. She even became one of the best students in the school. All this while, Daniel did not want to tell Berky anything about his crush on her. He was afraid he would loose the friendship he had with her and also, Berky was a first-class lady who would not like and love to go out with him. One Sunday afternoon during their holidays, Berky visited Daniel in his house and they decided to take a walk along the streets. Daniel took that opportunity to ask Berky out on a date and to be his queen on the Prom night which Berky agreed facially but deep down in her heart disagreed. ... Finally, the day for the completion of school came. The school authorities held a party, a Prom Night for all the graduates. Daniel was in high hopes that Berky would be his prom queen that night so he dressed like never before and was waiting for Berky. To his greatest disappointment, Berky came in with a well built boy of Daniel's age, more handsome and looked very rich. When Daniel saw this, he could not believe his eyes so he stood there to verify some petty things before he drew his conclusion. When Berky introduced the boy to Daniel as her boyfriend, tears started flowing from his eyes as if his eyes were filled with the ocean. He quickly ran out of the hall and entered the rest room so as to avoid embarrassment and to avoid the rest of the students excluding Berky and the boy she claimed was her boyfriend from seeing him in tears but it failed. The school bully and his gang were spying him even before Berky came in with the boy. They were planning on bullying him that night. After Daniel had entered the rest room, the gang followed minutes later to tease him to cry more. This made Daniel very sad and angry at the same time. When the teasing was too much that Daniel could not control himself , he gave the main bully a very big punch on his face and warned him to stay away from him. The bully's gang tried attacking Daniel but he was fast enough to escape. Since that incidence, Daniel was never seen again in the school. The moment he got home, he persuaded his mother to move from the city with his siblings but his mother did not buy his idea. This made him leave all by himself to a different country far away from his country. He left because he did not want to see Berky neither the other way round and he did not want to have anything to do with her ever again in his life. He then made up his mind to focus on more important things than to focus and believe in love which to him, it was fake... When Daniel moved from New York City in the states to China, he started everything afresh. He had managed to get a visa and a passport so he could move from his old place and his old life. When he got to China, he decided to work to get enough money that would help him go to college which he succeeded. He then gained admission into one of the best colleges in China and he studied I.T and its related things. As determined as he was, he completed with flying colors. He then started working with his certificate and he got enough money to start his own business. He began manufacturing phones, laptops, Televisions and its accessories and also began repairing the faulty ones as well. Life was going on smoothly for him just as he planned . He began gaining customers who were interested in his goods both retailers and bulk purchasers. Daniel was gradually becoming a successful business man. He had his shops including warehouses and factories all over China and one day, he made up his mind to go back to his family to check how they were faring and to also see whether he could open a new shop, which would be a warehouse for his work over there. Fortunately when he got back, his mother and siblings were fine. They were still living where they were before he left them. They were very happy to see him back home. He stayed there for a whole month trying to observe how his business would prosper in his home. He had nothing to worry about his businesses in China because he had trusted people who were in charge. He took his time observing all he needed to observe. After a month, he concluded his research and he needed to go back to China to raise enough money to open the new branch he had thought of in New York City. Few days to his departure, his mother asked him to go along with his two siblings who were now graduates so that they could work for and with him. He agreed and promised his mother to come for them after he was done with their visas and passports that would help them travel legally without struggle. Few months later, everything was set for Daniel's two siblings and the money he was raising to open another business branch. He asked his mother to manage the New York City ware house and that he would open the factory in a year's time. He then took his siblings, Mina and Deland to China so they could learn what the work was about and how everything worked. In New York City, his mother was taking care of the ware house of his business. Within ten years, Daniel had become one of the top successful businessmen in the world. He had his businesses all over. He bought a mansion for his mother. His siblings that joined him had made it in life and not to forget the homeless, he bought a very big storey building and employed those who were capable of working and had interest in his work. During one of Daniel's holidays, he was relaxing in the pool in his house when one of his servants approached him and informed him he had a visitor. When he allowed the visitor in, it was a lady, who wanted to work in one of Daniel's companies so she came to plead with Daniel to employ her. There was something familiar about the lady. Daniel began to wonder if he ever knew her from anywhere. He thought for a long while and even forgot that the lady who was seeking for employment was still around. The lady intentionally made a sound to remind him of her presence and he came back to his senses and apologised to the lady for behaving in such a rude way. The lady who had not mentioned her name yet made it known to him that was nothing because she was not offended. Daniel asked the lady to come back the other day to check up on the various positions in his. company. As early as five in the morning, the lady was in Daniel's house waiting for him. Daniel was surprised to see the lady there by that time. He hurried to his office together with the lady, gave her a high vacant position without even taking a look at her certificate or asking of her name. Eventually as usual, Daniel was checking how far his businesses had gone. He went to where the lady he employed without knowing anything about her worked in one of his business branches and as he was fulfilling the reason why he was there, he realised he did not know the lady's name and anything about her. He immediately ordered for her to be called. When she came in, Daniel tried to remember where he knew her from but to no avail. He sat the lady down on the seat infront of him and started questioning her. And this was the little conversation they had: Daniel: Young lady The Lady: Sir Daniel: Tell me your name, where you schooled, about your parents, your country of origin and why you are here. The Lady: Well, Sir, it's a whole lot how this happened and I do not really like talking about it but since it is you, I will manage. I am Berky Grumdig. A daughter of an old time billionaire. Adam's Scholar High School was where I had my high school education. After high school, I gained admission in one of the big and best colleges in the states. Everything was moving smoothly for me until I got to my second year in college and a phone call destroyed my life forever. The phone rang a lot of times so my mother and I were wondering what the problem could be. I decided to answer the call but my mother hurriedly took the phone to answer the call and whiles the phone was on her ear, the phone slipped down and tears start flowing from my mother's eyes. I asked her what the matter was but she could not stop crying to answer me. I then took the phone and what I heard, was the biggest shock of my life. The person that called us said my father has been arrested. I asked the person on the phone the cause and he told me they found drugs in his goods on the ship which was being transported to another country. My father was sent to court and he could not pay the amount they fined him. This lead to the seizure of all his property. He was jailed 10 years. And that was the last time I heard of him. My mother was a housewife before the arrest of my father and she had no job so she had to get a job as soon as possible. We also had to leave our mansion to another place where we knew not. That took us for about a month so for one month, we were homeless. We slept on the streets every night. I tried reaching out to my friends but they all failed me. Eventually, we found an abondoned old house. We cleaned all the dirt and made our new found home look great.Things became really hard for my mother and I. This meant that I was supposed to start working as well. The money we were earning could not take care of my mother, myself and my school needs so I had to drop out. One day after I had closed from work, I hurried home because my mother was not feeling well and she needed to be admitted at the hospital for treatment. She stayed in the hospital for quite a long time and she was later diagnosed of a whole in her heart. This news broke my heart and I began to wonder, if I had offended someone to deserve all that was happening to me. The doctors demanded a very high amount that I did not know where I would get that from. I had to use all the savings my mother and I had managed to get in a few weeks to pay for the surgery. Unfortunately for us, the money was not even enough and luck was not on our side so no one helped us. My mother could not survive so she passed away. I then made up my mind to further my third year education so I could get a good job to take care of myself and the things I needed. I graduated and by then, I had saved enough money to leave the country so that I could start a new life in another country. I then discovered your company's opportunities given to the less privileged and I decided to try my luck". Daniel continued asking her more questions about school and he later remembered her as his billionaire girlfriend that broke his heart into pieces way back in high school. Her story really touched his heart and he instantly forgave her without her knowing about it. He did not want to remind her of anything that happened years ago. He asked her further questions about where she was currently living and to his disappointed, she was living with a certain married couple as their maid. They maltreated her so much that she did not have her peace of mind. Daniel then asked Berky to come over to his place and stay there which she did not hesitate in accepting. ... While in Daniel's house, Berky did almost all the house chores including those, that were not meant for females. She woke up before all the workers in the house just to finish the chores before leaving for work. Daniel knew nothing about her working as a maid in his house until his chiefmaid told him everything. Daniel was not pleased even a bit with the incidence. He summoned Berky privately in his office to ask her the reasons behind her actions. She told Daniel she had nothing to pay back except those services she was rendering. She just wanted to use those to thank him. Daniel still wondered what was wrong with Berky. He started to question himself. He thought Berky was after his money, he also thought she was really in need of help. His mind was left wanting. As the days went by, Berky continued to repeat what she start from the first day she stepped foot in Daniel's house. This made Daniel really worried. His mind was filled with a lot of thoughts about Berky and he could not think so much about his work but nothing changed because, he had people in charge. When he was in his office one-day, he called Berky into his office. Berky was frightened when she heard her boss needed her urgently. When she got to the entrance of the office, she knocked and she was allowed into by Daniel. She was asked to sit down. All this time, she was shaking in fear but Daniel noticed it and gave her a bottle of water to calm her nerves down. After she had sipped the water, Daniel told her the reason for calling her was not anything bad. It was just to tell her to stop working in the house as a maid. She took in a deep breath after Daniel had finished speaking. She was informed she could leave but she did not hear those words because she could not stop staring at Daniel in the eyes. Promotion was due and as usual, among workers of about thousand, only fifty were chosen everytime and every worker was in anticipation to be promoted.
