Chapter 45

1212 Words
Being two high profile, extremely popular athletes, in a relationship, trying to hide it from the public seemed easier said than done, and well it was. Trying to convince fans and the media that you were simply friends and not in an actual personal relationship, was also easier said than done. Massy stepped onto the "Garbage Time" set. A ten minute long YouTube side show from ESPN's Sports analysis Katie Nolan. Many athletes, actors, singers, amongst other celebrities graced the extremely laid back podcast giving their thoughts on all sports everything, as well as plugging their projects. Earlier in the week Massy got the call she'd be gracing the video game FIFA, only being in her first year this was a big deal, her stats would be looked over and eventually combined in the game. Odell who recently graced the 2016 cover of MADDEN stopped by to talk about his experience, now it was Massy's turn. Kate was a very down to earth, extremely corky and definitely knew about her sports, she was excited to meet Massy, the two women joking with one another. "So, you may be gracing the cover of FIFA! Which is a really big deal! We got ahold of the ratings on the players, and you've got some really high stats! I mean, a 92 in kicking accuracy! That crazy, girl!" Katie said, her enthusiasm seemed to make Massy smile. "Really?! It's 92!? Wow." Massy said in surprise not knowing the stats. "I didn't know it was that high!" "Yea girl, your stats on here are crazy!" Katie said looking at Massy like she should have already known. "Ok, so here's the game. We know you're good at soccer. Obviously. But we wanna know what you'd rate yourself on more mundane like tasks, stuff that you do everyday." Massy shook her head in agreement to the game. "Now we did ask your best friend Odell these same questions, because clearly my staff is too lazy to come up with new questions. I don't know if you saw that episode or not, but I'm going to ask the same ones." Massy began laughing as Katie looked past the rolling camera and at her staff who could be heard in the background laughing as well. "I did not see his episode, no." Massy said laughing then taking a sip from her red plastic cup. "That's perfect then, so you don't know the ratings he gave himself, that also tells me you don't watch my podcast, which is fine because based on my staffs laziness, I don't watch this show either." Massy and the staff began laughing again Katie also chuckling, Katie's dry sense of humor was clearly her strongest asset. "Ok, so snuggling/cuddling?" Massy frowned, taken back by the question but then laughed. "Probably like a seven." Katie looked at Massy in surprise. "I'm not a big cuddle person, I can snuggle while up just chillin watching tv, but as soon as I go to sleep, you gotta go to the other side of the bed, I get hot and I hate being hot." "Driving?" "I'm really good at driving actually, I'd say like a 95, but I do have road rage so that probably knocks me down to like a 90, but other than that I'm good, just don't cut me off." Massy said laughing. "Cooking?" "Eeeee, that's a 50, I can make a mean peanut butter and jelly sandwich." "Your ability to answer the same questions for 2 hours on a four letter network?" Katie said with a serious face as laughing from the staff behind the cameras started. Massy immediately through her head back laughing. Katie referring to her recent press conference where her A.D.D seemed to kick in. "That's definitely a zero, I was so bored!" As the interview continued Massy felt at ease, Katie completely stayed away from even mentioning Odell in any sort of personal way for the whole process. Massy couldn't mentally thank her enough for doing that. "So, tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday! Where can the people party with you!?" Katie asked ending the interview. "ESPN Super Bowl party at The 40/40 club sponsored by Grey Goose." Massy said with confidence plugging the event. Katie turned her head from Massy and to the camera. "Well there you guys have it!... So I take it you're not a Tequila girl?" Katie asked as she turned her head back to looking at Massy. "I'm actually scared of Tequila." Massy said seriously, both eyebrows arched up. "As you should be! Aren't we all!" Katie said looking at her, a slight chuckle from the staff in the back could be heard agin, Massy broke out laughing tilting her head back. "All right, closing out another wonderful episode of Garbage Time! I'm Katie Nolan, that's USA Soccer Star Massy Arias! Super Bowl 50! Here we come!" As the Super Bowl began Massy and Odell found themselves separated once again. While he was on one side of the city hosting Maximum Magazine Super Bowl Party. She was on the other side hosting ESPN's Super Bowl party. The separation and hectic schedule seemed to not bother either one of them, every time Odell would start to get frustrated he'd remember the conversation his mother had with him ultimately telling him and Massy if this was something you really wanted then you'd have to work for it, make it work, and that's exactly what Odell and Massy did. Odell was tempted on many occasions, realizing he was so young in a committed relationship sometimes ate at him, his motto was your twenties are your selfish years, doing what you want, with who you want, when you want. It was your years to be and do everything you wanted. On the flip side Massy was someone he wanted and wanted to have something with her, their friendship had blossomed with minor speed bumps. Both of them partying the night away, Odell taking to club platforms, circled by fans and friends as he danced till he couldn't anymore, his dramatic movements being able to catch rhythm to any and every beat. Massy on the other hand remaining liquor free, due to her in season training, she still managed to have a good time standing on a speaker, arms up, shoulders bouncing she too catching any and every rhythm. Beyoncé dropping a video and song the day before the Super Bowl, then preforming ultimately put Massy, a well known Beyonce Stan in that mood to party. Taking to her Twitter to let off a series of tweets about how Beyoncé has once again taken her "edges" @M_Ace_Arias: Aye @RedLobster y'all better pop some extra biscuits in that oven, cuz this week finna be lit! Quartback Patton Manning would end his football career retiring with a Super Bowl 50 ring. The Panthers eventually fell to the Broncos 24-10. Social media lit up with images of both teams, fans reactions. A crying Josh Norman on the bench as Broncos celebrated their win seemed to be a fan favorite, considering his attack on Odell and his sexuality, Twitter did what they did best in situations like this and trolled Josh Norman turning him into endless meems for what seemed to be hours even days.
