Chapter 56

"Sweden takes forward Massy Arias down in a nasty back and forth battle, she is reported to be out for three weeks with a 2nd degree groin injury, causing her to miss Germany and possibly Canada."  "They want her to what!?" Massy sports agent Mike yelled into his Bluetooth that was attached to his ear 24/7.  "Just run it by her, let her know the terms and conditions and see what she says Mike!"  "Do you know how stupid and ridiculous that sounds! This has just turned into a race thing Tim!" Mike yelled pacing his open office. "Don't shoot the messenger, Mike."  "I can tell you right now! She's not doing it!" Mike yelled back into the Bluetooth before hanging it up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As soon as Odell heard from his mother that Massy was injured he got on the first flight to California. Spending a majority of her time at the training facility. Beats headphones over her ears she laid on the medical table on her back, her arm thrown over her eyes listening to music as the team massage therapist softly kneaded the inside of her right thigh. Massy had yet to take Odell's name off the visitors list, not that it was a must thing to do, she simply forgotten about it.  The therapist tapped Massy on the leg getting her attention, she lifted her head looking at the woman then followed the direction of her index finger to the door. Odell leaned against the frame, sympathetic to what she was currently going through he had a somber look on his face, even though he was a kid in a candy store on the inside when he saw her.  "Hey." Massy lifted to her elbows, pulling the headphones from her ears.  "How you feeling rookie?" He asked walking into the room.  Massy frowned looking down at her groin injury, then looked back up at him. "Ask me in another week, and I'll let you know... What are you doing here?"  "My girlfriend is hurt, so I came to be by her side." He simply said pulling one of the stools to the side of the medical table and sitting on it.  Massy frowned again, looking at him for a moment. She remained quiet as she and Odell both watched the woman wrap a ace bandage tightly around Massy's thigh, then laying a large frozen gelled ice pack across it. "I'm going to leave you like this for about 20 minutes, ok?" Massy shook her head yes, watching the woman leave the room.  "Are you going to sit there the whole time?" Massy asked, seeming to already be annoyed with his presence.  "Yes... Are you going to lay there in silence the whole time?" Odell folded his arms across his chest, letting her know he had no plans of leaving her side during this injury.  "Yes." She simply said putting the headphones back over her ears. Massy wasn't angry, upset, or mad. She just didn't have anything to say to him, her only thoughts and concerns were about what she could do and had to do to get back on that field.  Odell closed his eyes tightly letting out a huff of air. "Will you at least hear me out?!" "Hear you out about what? There's nothing that needs to be heard about."  "Massy!" Odell said clenching his jaw.  "WHAT ODELL!... There is nothing that I need to hear about. I seen enough when you decided to show up to an event on the arm of another woman after ignoring me for a week after Valentine's Day, I don't care if it was for 'publicity'... Yea, your mom told me about the conversation, but you're STILL in a COMMITTED relationship! And if you're too insecure enough to let me know you didn't want me spending Valentine's Day wit Drake and Kaepernick, hosting a party than you should of spoke up instead of playing it off like it's not a issue! There is no US right now. I don't trust you! You need to truly figure out if this!" Massy pointed her index finger between her and Odell. "Is really what you want, but you're not going to f**k with my feelings while you do it! I appreciate you coming all the way here to check on me I really do, but you've got some self figuring out to do"  Massy placed the headphones back on her head and laid down closing her eyes, as much as Odell wanted to sit and go back and forth with her he knew she was right. Odell wanted Massy but still wanted the freedom and even he knew that didn't make sense. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As the team boarded the plane to travel to Germany, Massy couldn't be any more confused about life. With her and Odell being on a break, being injured and not being able to play, and her attraction to Michael was growing. If Massy wasn't visibly upside down she sure was mentally and emotionally.  As she cheered her team on from the side lines, she did her best to remain from getting too excited during the game. Taking on Germany started rough, her team being use to having her on the field was a big reality check on just how much they depended on her. Being a solid team and keeping their promise to Massy that they would beat Germany they defeated them 2-0 to remain undefeated, with a record of  12-0.  Watching her team play without her was not something she wasn't happy about, it was an unexplainable feeling, but a feeling she didn't want to ever have to feel again. As soon as they landed back in the states Massy was cleared to start workout again easing her way into it. With her groin plain less intense, Massy began to feel a bit more confident in herself that she'd be back on the field in another week to take on Canada.  Michael held the UCLA training facility door open for Massy, making sure she was all the way in before following behind her. It felt good to be back at her old college, walking down the long hallway that led to the weight lifting room, photos of top athletes and record holders arranged by their class year hanging on the wall. He smiled as he saw Massy's senior photo and Bruin Spotlight award on the wall along with her records along with photos of her in action that led up to a championship season.  Having Michael as a workout partner is a chore in itself, she tried her hardest to not watch him workout but it was physically impossible, the muscles flexing in his back alone was enough to make any woman melt. Massy's agent Mike eagerly pushed through the training doors, a unreadable look on his face as he looked around for her.  "What's up Mike? What's so important you had to rush down here?"  Mike stood right in front of Massy, a almost angry look on his face, due to the fact that he had to come here and tell his client the ridiculous news. "We've got a problem Massy."
