Chapter 48

928 Words
The second night of All Star Weekend was definitely full of excitement, aside from the night before with Massy. Sitting court side as more and more people filled the Air Canada Center, for the Three Point Shooting contest, the Skills Challenge, and finally the always exciting Slam Dunk Contest. Fellow athletes greeting Odell and Massy, light conversation here and there. "Aaayyyyeeeee!" Massy yelled out as fellow UCLA Bruins and now NBA point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder Russell Westbrook pointed at her, she stood up greeting him with a hug. Odell looking up from his phone to see who Massy was speaking to. "Back to Back! Only Bruins do s**t like that!" Westbrook said with his arm around her shoulder as he spoke about their college mascot. Lebron and Dwayne Wade of the Miami Heat turning around hearing the commotion, from the two of them, both laughing once they saw why Westbrook said what he said. Odell sat watching his girlfriend go back and forth in conversation with top NBA stars, embracing her. That annoying feeling began to come back, him and her both being equally popular amongst fans and fellow athletes, but like before her accessibility was becoming a main issue for Odell. This was Massy's time, her season, she was the focus on campus, just like during Football season she stood back and let him shin, but Odell didn't see it this way, ultimately her popularity becoming threatening to him. As the night went on, Karl Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves winning the skills challenge, Golden State Worriers Stephen Curry lost his crown of the Three Point Shooting contest to fellow teammate and good friend Klay Thompson. The Dunk Contest was the true event. Minnesota Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine the a two-time champion after defeating young Orlando Magic star Aaron Gordon in the second round of sudden death of the contest. Gordon and LaVine put on a high flying show of back and forth dunks of supernatural abilities. Three rounds of unplanned dunks that finally left LaVine the reigning champion. Fellow basketball player and fans shook their heads in amazement as they watched the two young stars bring back the true meaning of a Dunk Contest. Odell spent the rest of the night putting distance between him and Massy, as she partied and was congratulated by any and everyone on a successful season so far. Valentines Day was a 50/50 type of holiday. Half of the world not caring for it, and the other half couldn't wait to see what the day brought them from their loved ones. The All Star Game consisting of the top players from all the teams in the NBA divided into Team East and Team West putting on a high profile game for Valentine's Day.  Kobe Bryant being honored before and after the game, video footage of his career being displayed on the jumbotron as well as other players speaking about his influence he's had on them in a very emotional but exciting retirement from the NBA Team West closing out strong for him with a win over Team East as they closed out his last All Star Games.  Massy stood in front of the mirror getting dressed, Odell catching occasional glimpse here and there at her. "What's wrong with you?" Massy asked Odell truly not knowing what was bothering him.  Odell simply shook his head, still looking down at his phone typing away at a message. "Nothing, just chillin."  He said shortly. Massy frowned and kneeled down in front of him, her hands on his knees. "Hey, what's going on?" She asked again, Odell knowing she was going to worry until he told her and to prevent from having a potential argument on Valentine's Day he put on a smile.  "Nothing baby girl." He said as he puckered his lips showing her he wanted a kiss from her, Massy smiled and pecked his lips.  "One more." He said making sure she wouldn't think anything was wrong with him, Massy laughed and pecked his lips again, holding the kiss longer she stood up and continued getting dressed.  Everyone expected to be dressed in Red or Pink, Massy settled for a all white ribbon based knee length dress. While Odell hosted a party at one club Massy hosted another at a different club. Ultimately spending Valentines Day apart, they made up for it throughout the weekend, but that was life when you were a celebrity, having to be in two places at once. Massy and Odell being young and assuming they can handle and do it all.  Odell frowned, his jaw clenching as Massy updated her i********: with photos of her having a great time without Odell. Her party seeming to be present with an unlimited amount of stars. A photo of her sandwiched between Team USA Rugby captain Todd Clever and San Francisco's Quaterback Colin Kaepernick, the photo also appearing on Colin and Todd's i********:'s, another photo of her and Sacramento Kings Center DeMarcus Cousins who played in the All Star East vs West game that same night. The same photo posted on his i********: first and Massy reposting it.  Odell's anger had reached an all time high, as he looked through Massy's i********:. They may have been innocent photos, everyone having a good time, taking in the celebration of the weekend, but to him these were the men his girlfriend was spending Valentines Day with, these were the men his girlfriend was partying with and smiling around, cracking jokes and drinking with, when she should be with him.
