Chapter Eight

1466 Words
Kira plunked down on the seats as she scoured her hands on her arms to warm herself up. Simone and Zoie sat close to her with their attention being on the football field as they persistently trusted that the group would run on the field and face their rivals.  "I should've worn a coat." Simone said.  "I'll see what I can do." Zoie muttered. Overlooking them both, Kira made a sound as if to speak prior to standing up and leaving causing Simone feign exacerbation.    “She’s been acting like a b***h lately.” Simone stated.  “She’s just ready to go home.” Zoie mumbled.  “I’d rather you not use your powers to do anything with the weather.” Simone whispered.  “Why not?”  “Because there are people around and something could go wrong.” Simone hissed.  “We’ve been stuck here for years now! I’m starting to not give a f**k about people.” Zoie replied. Simone raised a brow as she stared at her sister. Zoie behavior had changed drastically in the past few days. At first, she was excited to be back in school but it all changed suddenly and the young girl began to lock herself away. Simone witnessed Zoie behave this way before and she feared that history was going to repeat itself.  “You’re hearing them again. It’s why you’ve been hiding and why you’re so quiet all the time.” Simone muttered.  “Being in another decade is taking a toll on me.” Zoie lied.  “Dammit, I can try to get us out of here but there’s no telling where we would go.” Simone replied.  “At this point, Simone.” Zoie started. “I don’t give a fuck.” “For once, could you and Kira understand things from my point of view? I’m trying to think straight and make sure nothing bad happens but you both seem to forget that I am very new when it comes to these f*****g powers.”  Zoie grabbed Simone’s arm as she angrily stared at her. “I don’t care! Get us out of here!”  Snatching her arm away, Simone stood up. “How about you get your damn self out of here.”  Kira leaned against the fence and sighed in defeat. She hadn’t seen Harry or his siblings since the night of the party which had been 6 days ago. Kira hadn’t told anyone that she had slept with Harry in the backseat of his BMW and had no plans to let anyone know including Simone and Zoie. As Kira looked up, she noticed Timmy, Jacob, Sebastian and Harry walking in with smiles on their faces. Harry looked over and laid eyes on her causing her to quickly turn the opposite direction.  As Kira stood there with hopes of Harry going elsewhere, she couldn’t help but feel weirder all of a sudden. There was a feeling that came over her as she leaned against the fence and it was a feeling that was all too familiar and confirmed her theory that she and her sisters were not alone. Looking around, Kira helplessly searched for one of her sisters. Since she was a child, Kira could always tell whenever another super-powered being was around. She was suspicious of Harry and the rest of his family but she had never felt a pull towards them  so it meant that there was someone else around.  Simone walked away from the concession stand holding the hot dog in her hand. She had enough Kira and Zoie’s mood swings and couldn’t help but feel as if they were blaming her for not being able to travel back to 2021. However, she couldn’t help it.  Simone never knew that she had powers unlike Kira who had always known and Zoie who discovered some of her abilities at 17. Meanwhile, Simone had only found hers 6 months ago. As Simone took a bite out of the hot dog, Olivia made her way over. Slapping the food out of Simone’s hand, Olivia smirked.  “I am so on to you, Simone.” Olivia said.  “You’re not going to stop, are you?” Simone asked while shaking her head.  “Of course not.”  “I guess I’m just going to have to beat your ass until you do then.” Simone replied.  Olivia raised a brow before crossing her slim arms across her chest. “When are you going to stop pretending?”  “Pretending that I won’t lay hands on you?” Simone asked with a laugh.  “Pretending that you belong here.” Olivia revealed. “In 1989.” Simone's grin dropped as she gazed at Olivia in dismay. Olivia's grin transformed into a laugh. Simone couldn't force herself to say anything as Olivia remained there in a chuckling fit. Gradually, Simone stepped back to look for Kira and Zoie.  "Where are you!" Simone heard Kira yell. Understanding that Kira was in her mind, Simone answered. “We know, Simone. We know that those aren’t your cousins either.” Olivia stated.  “How do you know?” Simone asked. “How would you know anything? What are you?”  Olivia’s smile dropped. “You don’t get to flip this on me.”  “Shouldn’t you be out there on the field with the rest of the cheerleaders?” Simone asked. “Isn’t your brother about to play but yet you’re here stalking and harassing me.” Olivia walked forward and attempted to grab Simone by the neck. Quickly, Simone teleported behind the concession stand. Sighing in relief, Simone noticed that no one seemed to be around the area. As she prepared to walk away, someone cleared their throat causing her to freeze. Turning around, Simone laid eyes on 2 men in black and grey uniforms.  “f**k!” Simone shouted.  Kira pushed through the crowd as people cheered. Knowing the football game had officially started, she knew that most would be focusing on the game which would make it easier for her to search for her sisters. Pushing the loud student out of the way, Kira ignored any odd looks being shot at her.  “Near the concession stand!” Kira heard Simone say. Eyes now focused on the stand, Kira jogged towards the area. Suddenly, a hand wrapped around her wrist. Looking up, Kira noticed that it was Harry.  “Are you avoiding me?” Harry asked. “That’s fine. I just wanted you to know that there’s no relationship between us after what happened. We are still friends, right?” "I need to leave." Kira said as she pulled her hand away.  "Leave the game or leave 1989?" Harry inquired. Kira quit moving and gazed at the man in stun.  “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” She whispered.  “You’re not the only one with secrets.” Harry replied.  “Harry.” Kira started only to be cut off by Harry speaking again.  “Where is my sister?” He asked as he stared intensely with red eyes.  Slowly, Zoie walked around not paying any attention to the ongoing football game. Truthfully, she didn’t care. While sitting, Zoie’s hands began to burn yet she ignored it at first and rubbed her hands together. Soon after, a flame ignited from her index finger. Realizing that her powers were once again going out of control, Zoie balled both hands into a fist before anyone could see it and jumped up to exit the area.  Annoyed, Zoie stepped outside the fence and quickly made her way to the parking lot where their 1989 Honda Accord was parked. Grabbing the keys out of her pocket, Zoie unlocked the door and prepared to get in only to be stopped by someone slamming the door shut. Already upset, Zoie turned around to confront the unknown individual only to see that it was Nate.  “Now isn’t the time.” Zoie hissed.  Nate said nothing as he wrapped his hand around Zoie’s neck before snapping it. Nate caught Zoie’s limp body before it could hit the ground. Slowly, he opened the back door and laid her body on the backseat. Slamming the door shut, Nate leaned against the hood of the car as he waited for the next step.
