" Sir, you have a meeting with Suntex housing at 10am and a Zoom meeting by 3pm. Your dad called, he wants you to be at Jovic hotel by 4:30pm." His secretary gave him his schedule for the day.
" Alright. Get me the business proposal for Suntex." He instructed and his secretary left.
"Any idea why your father wants you to meet with him at the restaurant?" Bruce asked releasing the button of his black suit that hugged his well built, broad upper body, as he sat down opposite Ambrose.
" I have no idea but I sincerely hope it isn't about this marriage thing." He stared at the ceiling trying to imagine the beginning and end of the meeting with his Father.
" Guess who I ran into today." Bruce asked interrupting his thoughts with a smile.
" Who? I hope it isn't one of those annoying exes of mine?" He rolled his eyes now twirling his executive chair.
" Better. Your first love!" Bruce said slowly allowing the words to sink into him.
Ambrose felt like his heart missed two beats and he hated himself for still being affected by the mention of his first love. Bruce saw his reaction and he was satisfied with it, those looks were exactly what he wanted. He needed to distabilize Ambrose so he could make silly mistakes. That was the first thing on his plans.
" And she was heavily pregnant. She looked really good and ofcourse, she asked after you. I told her how much of a jerk you've been, unable to forget about her." Bruce replied with a smirk on his face.
" What? You told her that?" Ambrose looked him in the face obviously annoyed.
" Chill bro" Bruce raised his hand in surrender.
" I didn't tell her that, but we both know that's true." He replied no longer smiling.
" Shut up Bruce." Ambrose replied falling back on his chair. His mind replayed Bruce words about his first love Alice.
Ambrose hadn't always been a flirt. He once desired to fall in love and live happily with the woman his heart choose till death seperated them. He met Alice who at that time was the most beautiful woman in his universe. He was all over her and they spent three months of their life loving and enjoying each other's company. He had bought a ring, he was going to propose but his mother had advised him to still take it easy.
" Marriage is for a life time, choose carefully." She advised him whenever he brought the talks of marrying Alice.
" We are in love with each other, what else is needed to get married?" Younger Ambrose asked frustrated.
He couldn't bear the shock of his life when he saw a wedding card bearing Alice picture in a beautiful gown with another man who she once claimed was her cousin.
" Please tell me this is prank." He showed Alice one evening while she laid on his bed wearing his shirt. His mum had asked to see him and without much words, she handed him the photos. They were pre wedding pictures.
" Where did you get all this?" Alice asked frightened. The shock on her face was enough answer for him.
" It's true, isn't it?" He silently prayed she would deny it.
" The truth is, I am engaged to this man in the picture, but he travelled abroad for six months now. We agreed to hold the wedding when he returned. I wanted to have some fun, I wanted to spend time with a man and that was were I met you." She confesssed.
The thought of him being at object of fun hurt him even more.
" Did you ever love me?" He had to ask.
" I like you and I enjoy spending time with you." She responded sincerely. The response shattered him even more.
" End things with him, let's get married." He quickly said not wanting to let her go.
" Common, I possibly can't marry a child like you. You don't know what responsibility is and I can't leave my relationship of years to marry you." She said standing up.
The response tore his heart into pieces and without thinking it twice, she said her goodbye.
Ambrose watched her leave and for days, he found it difficult to forget her. He heard she got married and he wished he had stopped the wedding. There was no use since the lady in question, never loved him.
*** END OF FLASH BACK**
" That's her problem." He ended the conversation there and focused on the meetings he had that morning.
Bruce had other schemes up his sleeve and he was going to carry them all out within days. There was no time for procrastination.
" Is it done?" He asked over the phone when he was sure Ambrose was way down the stairs.
" Yes sir." The voice at the other end responded.
Long time ago, Ambrose had mistakingly killed a boy of his age. Out of fear, he and Ambrose there him in a sewer. After several days of searching, his body was discovered but no one traced it to the boys. Young Ambrose and Bruce vowed to tell no one about it but now, Bruce was going to taunt Ambrose with it. He kept a few evidence he was supposed to dispose of and now they would come in handy. He Wondered if he should allow the police do their work or hmem, should blackmail Mr Stan with it into giving him the company. But then, no one would acknowledge him as the CEO of the company truly. He needed to gain everyone's trust and that was what he was doing by first making them doubt Ambrose.
