They killed a Queen and called it justice. They should have made sure she stayed dead.Elyra Vashan ruled the Nine Packs with a crown of silver and a wolf that answered to no one. On the night of her coronation, the night she finally trusted the mate bond that had haunted her for years, Draven, her fated mate and soon to be King, drove a blade through her heart. She died staring into the eyes of the only man she'd ever let close. She should have stayed dead. Instead, her soul tore loose and slammed into another body, one already broken.Runa Voss. Sixteen. Scarred. Starved. The "ugly" daughter of Alpha Cassian Voss, locked out of feasts, mocked by her own stepsisters, and sold off at a betrothal auction like unwanted livestock. Her wolf had been caged since birth. Her face was a map of old wounds nobody bothered to heal. But her mind is Elyra's. Her fury is Elyra's. And buried under scar tissue and suppression seals, so is her power. While her new family laughs at her face, Elyra rebuilds in silence, breaking the seal on a stolen wolf, testing a Queen's strength in a body that was never meant to hold it. She hunts rogues in secret, kills assassins sent by a king who thinks his dead Queen is nothing but a rumor, and lets everyone underestimate her for exactly as long as it's useful. It doesn't last. An ancient shrine tied to her old bloodline answers her presence, and the scars start to burn away. What emerges isn't Runa Voss anymore. It's something rivals kneel to and kings fear, a goddess forged from grief, humiliation, and the kind of hatred that doesn't fade with time. Now three powerful men want her.Kellan Draventhorne, cousin to the very king who murdered her, drawn to a stranger who moves like she was trained to kill kings. Prince Ashen of the Coastal Packs, offering his throne, his army, and his heart to a girl he thinks he's rescuing. And Draven himself, the King who killed her, walking unknowingly back into her orbit, his wolf whimpering at a bond fragment that never quite died with her.She doesn't want their crowns. She wants their loyalty, their armies, and eventually, their obedience, because somewhere south of the mountains, an empire is still standing on the throne she bled out on. And she intends to walk back into that throne room, face the man who killed her, and make absolutely sure that this time, someone stays dead. This isn't a redemption story. It's not a slow-burn healing arc. It's a Queen clawing her way back from the grave, wearing an "ugly" girl's face, with a hit list, a growing army, and three rivals who don't yet realize they're all in love with a woman built for war.Scarred once. Underestimated forever after. Rising, finally, lethal.

Chapter one: The Blade at the Altar
The throne room was made of white stone, and it turned red in less than a second. Elyra Vashan stood on the coronation dais with silver dripping from her hair and firelight in her eyes, and for one breath, one single, stupid, trusting breath, she let herself believe she had won. The great doors had been thrown open to let in the night air, and the torches along the walls guttered gold against marble that had stood white and unbroken for four hundred years. The Nine Packs bowed below her, rank upon rank, cloaked in their colors, heads lowered in the silence that only comes before something sacred. The crown, forged from bone white silver and set with a single black stone at its center, sat cool against her brow, heavier than she'd imagined a piece of metal could be. She had trained her whole life to carry that weight. She had believed, in that moment, that she finally could. Draven knelt at her feet, his head bowed, his hand pressed flat over his heart in the old vow that every mate of every crowned Alpha had sworn since the packs first split from the wild. His shoulders were broad beneath the ceremonial black, his dark hair still damp from the ritual bath, and when he lifted his face to hers, she thought she saw something soft there. Something real. "My Queen," he said, voice low enough that it carried anyway, the way his voice always had, straight into her chest, straight into the bond that had lived there since the night it first snapped into place between them, three winters ago, in a moonlit clearing neither of them had planned to survive. "My mate. My blade, forever." She reached down to lift his chin, to look properly into the eyes that had haunted her dreams every night since that clearing, eyes the color of wet slate, eyes she had trusted more than her own council, more than her own instincts. He rose to meet her hand, unfolding out of his bow like something inevitable, like gravity. The blade went in before she saw it move. It slid beneath her ribs with an intimacy that felt almost gentle, almost like a kiss, cold and then hot and then nothing at all, and for one heartbeat she thought, stupidly, desperately, that it was a mistake. That his hand had slipped on the ceremonial dagger. That someone would scream. That this wasn't real, couldn't be real, not here, not on the night the whole kingdom had gathered to watch her become what she was born to be. Then she saw his face. No grief. No horror. Just calculation, cold and clean, the exact look he wore when negotiating trade routes with the eastern packs or signing orders of execution he didn't feel the need to witness personally. This was her fated mate. These were his hands, buried to the hilt in her, and this was his crown, the one he had wanted since the moment the bond chose her instead of some Alpha's daughter he could have controlled without effort. "You should have stayed weak," he murmured, pitched so only she could hear it, so intimate it might have been mistaken for tenderness by anyone watching from the floor. "Weak Queens don't get remembered. They just get replaced." The court didn't scream. Not one voice, not one gasp, not one bowed head lifting in shock. They'd been told what would happen tonight. Every soul in that room had already known, had already made peace with it, had already decided which side of the new order they meant to stand on before the first drop of her blood hit the stone. Elyra's knees buckled. Her crown slid from her hair and rolled off the dais, bouncing once, twice, then clattering down the long white steps, ringing out clear and bright like a bell that no one in that entire silent room answered. She looked down at her own blood pooling beneath her, gold threaded through the red the way it always was, Queen's blood ran different, brighter, like it knew it mattered even as it left her and she thought of every enemy she'd spared instead of executed, every ally she'd trusted with secrets that could have burned kingdoms, every night she'd let this man hold her like she was something worth keeping, something worth building a future around instead of something to be used and discarded on a coronation night. The last thing she saw was Draven's face already turning toward the crowd, already smoothing itself into grief for an audience that would applaud his performance. The last thing she felt was rage. Not fear. Rage, hot, endless, the kind that doesn't die with the body, the kind that outlasts blood and breath and bone. Then the world went white, and then it went nowhere at all.
