The Lazy Princess

It was almost like why I have to be in this kind of situation where I have to manage such a big kingdom as Erath. My apparent father was still alive and kicking and my apparent mother had been in her absolutely bedridden ever since I was a kid. They said that, not me. My apparent father doesn’t want to have a new concubine to be his second Queen. It’s not that I want to have a new Mother. It’s just that I don’t want to be in charge of a kingdom as big as this, because you know, I am a lazy a*s. And they say that I am the first Princess and the only one next to the Throne. If I really got a chance, I would turn this kingdom into a republic. “Your highness Princess Danaiah, your majesty is requesting your appearance at their quarters as of now.” I turned to where the voice came from and saw my Butler, Helios Malfoy, at the entryway of my office inside the kingdom. I don’t want to call him an attendant because he isn’t and I will keep on telling him that. You would question me as to why I call my ‘parents’ apparent, pun intended. Let me tell you my secret. I am not from here. I come from somewhere far from here. Heck, I don’t even know where the hedge I am. Let me tell you my story before I came here to this world. Once upon a time, no wait, it’s already cliché. What if umm, hmm…A long time ago, no wait, that’s another cliché thing? Ah! I know. It was around the time when…yes that’s it. Once upon a time, a long time ago. It was around the time when, wait what? Well, never mind, I’ll continue anyway. It was around that time when I was in my step-father’s lab, who was a Military Scientist in the Philippine Military Army. I was helping him clean up his messes. Don’t get me wrong, I still have my father, alive and kicking, but my parents broke up when I was still in 7th grade. I kind of understand my parents' situation as to why they didn’t work out because of each other’s work. My mother, who’s also a Military Scientist, and my father, who was a business man with a job better than any business man out there. We were a happy family but fate had to start to play and, eventually, my family broke up. Well, I don’t have a choice but to go with the flow that fate has given us. But my father and I are still in communication and he always buys me things, and buys me my birthday gifts even if he can’t come to my birthday because of some circumstances. Don’t get me wrong, I understand their situation and I’m not mad at them, nothing at all. Well, let us continue where we left off. As I was saying, I was at my step-father’s lab, helping him clean when I had pushed a button accidentally and then a bright light engulfed me. My step-father’s voice was the last thing I'd heard, calling my name. “oww, where am I?” the usual and already cliché question being asked whenever the main character is at somewhere they don’t know. I rolled my eyes; of course, I’m not in my step-father’s lab. But seriously, where is this place? Oh look, I am surrounded by haystacks and horses. I got up from where I had stumbled before and went outside. It was a plain grass field and I could see trees from a distance, probably the entrance of a forest. I turned around and froze. Wow, that’s huge. I saw a huge wall behind the manger, estimated fifty meters high. I don’t know. “Oh my, young lady, what are you doing here outside?” I turned to where the voice came from and saw a lady older than me. She was wearing a long sleeve dress and an apron on her waist down below, she was also wearing a pair of boots, with a bucket of water on her side. “My apologies, but I think I am lost. Do you mind if you tell me where I am?” I asked her politely, while she was putting the water onto the horse’s water basin. She’s older than me, so I have to because I’m such a good kid. She looked at me from head to toe with a sceptical look, analyzing me. “Well then, I see that you are in a pinch. I don’t mind. But first come with me, you have to be dressed well.” She then walked towards me and dragged me away from the manger. I looked down at my clothes and, indeed, I was in a pinch, with those clothes tattered and smelly; I really needed to be dressed well. I sighed at myself. “First you have to take a bath. And then I will prepare your clothes that you will wear, okay. As soon as you finish, come out and see me in the kitchen.” she pushed me inside the room and closed the door. I turned around a saw a bathtub filled with water. I took off my clothes and slumped into the water. Ah, it’s so warm. I looked around the bathroom; it was painted with a light brown colour like the colour of a tree trunk. And some bottles of something just around the corner. I was busy looking around when I heard knocking at the door and the lady had already entered. I slumped my body into the water so that she may not see me n***d. “You can use those bottles that I have. It’s a hair soap and body Wash.” she smiled at me and put the clothes she promised in the cabinet just beside the door and then she left, closing the door. I breathed out and washed myself before putting on the clothes she gave me. It was a white long-sleeve dress up to my knees. I looked at myself in the mirror and saw that I was still me, the face that I have in my world. I left the bathroom and went to the kitchen as she said and saw her sipping a mug of hot coffee. She turned in my direction and signalled me to sit down across from her, to which I obliged. “Well then, young lady, do you mind if you tell me your name and where you come from?” she started. I looked at her and looked down. What if I tell her where I actually came from? She may not believe me and actually call me a liar? Ah. I don’t know what to say. Why didn’t I even think about this when I was still in the bathroom? People say that whenever you shower, you tend to think about things that don’t make sense. So does this make any sense? “My name’s Danah. And I’m umm…” “Okay, let me rephrase my question.” I looked at her as she said that and gave me a mug of coffee. “What happened to you?” “To tell you the truth, I really don’t know what happened to me. When I woke up, I just found myself in your territory. And I don’t intend to be on your way. I just want to find my way back, but I don’t know where to start.” I just looked at the hot coffee. I heard her sigh. “I see. Probably you are a victim of s*****y and you happened to stumble across my horse ranch.” s*****y? There’s s*****y here? I only read that kind of thing in history books and my Mom told me that it was the most horrible thing a human can be. “s*****y?” I asked. I still can’t believe that there’s s*****y here. “Don’t you remember anything at all?” She asked again. She’s also kind of surprised to see me asking such a question. I shook my head. She slumped down on her seat and sipped her coffee. “Okay then, it will come to be easy to not know what your past was so that you can easily move on.” She stated. I just looked down at my coffee. “But in the meantime, your memories haven’t come back yet. Do you mind if you could at least help me out at my bar?” she suggested. I looked up at her smiling face. “Bar?” She nodded and then after our coffee time, she told me she would guide me to where her bar was. It was inside the wall, not as in ‘inside the wall literally’, it was on the other side of the wall, while her house was on the other side where I first saw her. Her house was just beside her ranch. It was just a typical house of 14th century people in which their houses were made of bricks with chimneys. It is a one-storey house with two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a living room. Wait, what if I’m actually in the 14th century? “Is this your first time here?” She suddenly asked. I nodded, still thinking about what ifs and what will. “Well, let’s go inside the kingdom of Erath.” I looked at her as we entered the gate filled with people on their morning duty in their kingdom. Wait a kingdom! Oh my goodness gracious, a kingdom! I’m starting to think that I was transported to another world or just seven hundred years back. Steppy! What did you do?! By the way, Steppy is the name I always call my step-dad. Oh my goodness a kingdom, I can’t believe it. I don’t know what to feel anymore! I’m quite excited!
