Chapter 9: Aftermath
Obinna's determination to expose the truth weighed heavily on his mind. He knew the consequences would be severe, but he couldn't turn a blind eye.
As he walked out of Augusta's office, he bumped into Adaku.
"What's wrong?" Adaku asked, noticing Obinna's distress.
"The empire... it's built on human trafficking," Obinna revealed, his voice barely above a whisper.
Adaku's eyes widened. "What? That's horrific!"
Obinna's resolve strengthened. "I'll bring it down, Adaku. I promise."
Together, they hatched a plan to gather evidence and take it to the authorities.
Meanwhile, Augusta alerted Chief Mrs. Okoro, who summoned the family to an emergency meeting.
"Obinna's betrayal will ruin us," Chief Mrs. Okoro declared. "We must silence him."
Augusta smiled sinisterly. "Leave that to me."
As tensions escalated, Obinna received a cryptic message:
"Meet me at the old warehouse at midnight. Come alone."
The message was unsigned, but Obinna sensed a potential ally.
At midnight, Obinna arrived at the warehouse, his heart pounding.
A figure emerged from the shadows.
"Welcome, Obinna," Amara said, her eyes gleaming with determination. "I've been investigating the Okoro empire. Together, we can bring them down."
Obinna's hope surged. With Amara's help, justice seemed within reach.
But as they began to discuss their plan, footsteps touched outside.
"We're not alone," mara whispered.
