I had been avoiding Matthew all day so far and was now on my way to my last class of the day before cheer practice.
I know that I can't avoid him at practice because all the football players and cheerleaders are all going to be there.
I walked into my A.P literature class.
I sat down in one of the only two available seats by the window towards the back of the class and got my books out before Mrs. Kaulifey arrived.
"Good afternoon everyone." she smiled.
Mrs. Kaulifey was a really beautiful lady with french roots.
She had short black hair that fell slightly past her shoulders, beautiful green eyes and a sweet smile.
She was in her early forties and wore a knee length creme pencil skirt with a loose black blouse, a white blazer and black wedge heels giving her a sweet but strict look.
She placed her bag and books down on her desk and sat on the front of it.
Mrs. Kaulifey was a very laid back teacher.
"For those of you who do not know who I am, my name is Mrs. Amara Kaulifey and I am your AP literature teacher." she smiled and all attention turned to the door to see Matthew entering the class.
That was the moment I regretted every bad thing I have done in my life. Like that time grandma Evelyn said no cookies before bed and I snuck one for myself and grandpa.
"Glad to see you made it Matthew." she greeted and he nodded at her before his bright green eyes scanned through the class before they landed on me and the empty seat behind me.
"You can take the seat behind Alissa. For today we will simply be doing introductions. Alissa since Matthew does not speak much, could you do his?" she asked and I nodded.
Why me karma?
What have I ever done for you to feel the need to b***h slap me like this.
If I could, I'd slap you back.
I turned to him as soon as the introductions started and felt my cheeks heating up.
So much for avoiding him.
"How am I supposed to introduce you if I know absolutely nothing about you?" I asked him.
He simply shrugged.
"Do you know where Mason is right now?" I asked and he tipped his head back which hit the wall slightly.
A tap was heard coming from the other side.
Mason must be next door in the biology class.
"Watch my bag please."
I sighed before raising my hand and turning my attention to the teacher.
"Yes Alissa." Mrs. Kaulifey inquired.
"May I please be excused for a bit." I silently crossed my fingers.
"Yes, of course but please do return before your introduction is due." she nodded and I stepped out of class and made my way next door.
I knocked on the door and door and saw Mr. King behind his desk watching over the class.
Mr. King is a 60 year old biology teacher who just so happened to have taught both my parents and was best friends with my late grandfather on my mother's side.
He was quite tubby and towered over my 5"3 frame at 6"8. He had olive skin and dark eyes but as stern as he looked, he had a love of corny jokes and puns.
All my life I had known him as poppa James and he was always seen as family. Another grandfather if you will.
"Why if it isn't little Reed." he laughed apon seeing me enter the classroom blushing at the name he gave me as a baby.
I heard a few awwws and a couple soft chuckles which re-enforced my blush.
"To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?" he asked.
"I actually came to speak to Mason if that's ok with you?" I smiled.
"Anything for little Reed and tell your parents Alina sends her love." He grinned at the mention of his wife.
"I will."
"Andrews, you heard the lady and hurry back." his voice filled the class.
"Thanks Pop." I called over my shoulder as Mason and I stepped out of class.
"I need your help." I rushed out as soon as the door closed.
"Why, what's up?"
I heaved a defeated sigh before turnimg to him.
"Mattthew is in my A.P literature class and we're doing introductions and Mrs. Kaulifey asked me to introduce him since he hardly speaks but how can I if I know nothing about him?" I rant while Mason looks amused.
"I have two questions. Why are you so flustered and what happened to avoiding Matt?" his eyebrows lifted and he smirked.
"Firstly, shuuud uuppp and secondly, I wasn't avoiding him. I was just minding my distance." I firmly stated.
He laughed.
"You've been here just as long as we have and you're the head cheerleader. How do you not know him?" he curiously inquired.
"I don't know, I always have alot on my plate okay. Just help me out please. I'll pay for a movie date for you and Els." I pouted.
"Fine. Matt is captain of the football team, his official title within the team is also the quaterback. Full name is Matthew Jason Carter. He is the guy almost every girl wants and almost every guy wants to be. A total badass but don't tell anyone he has a soft spot for reading, especially to his little sister Olivia. He wants to go full NBA quaterback in the future but is also going to study business."
I stood there with my mouth hanging wide open.
"Wow." I mused.
"Oh and he can speak, he just chooses not too. Some day you might hear him talk , if you're lucky." Mason joked.
"Thanks Mase" I called walking back to class.
"Anytime Lissa." he said.
I need too do this.
I can do this.
I re-entered the classroom just as the girl sitting in front of me finished her introduction.
"Ah, just in time Alissa. Statr eith your introduction and then move to Matthew's." she instructed as I took my seat.
"My name is Alissa Alexandria Reed. My friends call me Lissa and I am 17 years old. I am the student body president and co-captain of the cheerleading squad. My hobbies include reading, writing, dancing and cheer." I finished and everyone smiled at me.
I turned to the teacher who nodded her head at me before I looked at Matthew who smirked.
He just challenged me.
So I smirked back.
Time for his intro.
"This is Matthew Jason Carter." I watched him wince slightly at his second name.
"He is captain of the football team and River Dale High's star quaterback. He is better known as Matt too his friends and is an NFL player in the making. His hobbies include football and hanging out with his best friends." I concluded smirking once again.
I saw amusement spark in his eye and a slight nod of approval at my introduction.
