"Houston, wait up", April uttered running after him and he stopped turning back to face her.
His cold face soon became a bit worried as he narrowed his eyes at her, " you've been crying?", he asked and April forced a smile trying to hide it though, failing miserably at it.
"No... I just-", she was sent mute by his next words
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean what I said just now", he uttered dipping his hands into his pocket.
" I just don't understand what you are doing here. You should go back to where you are coming from. I don't need anyone around me", he said and April smiled moving a bit closer to him, tugging him on his sleeves.
"Please, just let me stay for some time. I'm really scared to go back and face my dead parent. I don't even know where I'd start from", she pleaded and his emerald eyes looked at her.
She was smiling so much, her dimples surfacing, how could he ever say no to that?", he wondered as he jerk his sleeves away from her grasp.
" fine, on one condition", he uttered and April nodded for him to proceed.
"I don't care if you have to use a measuring tape or whatever. Just make sure you stay exactly 3 steps away from me. What you're doing now, don't ever do it again", he uttered referring to how close she was and she immediately moved away from him.
" Okay, no problem ", she uttered and Houston began trailing away and she followed him maintaining the agreed distance.
" So where are you going to?", she asked and he just kept walking quietly.
"Are you going to that creepy place I saw you at, yesterday? You shouldn't go there. There are all kinds of horrible sights there", she muttered and he suddenly stopped making her hit him at the back. Regaining her composure she moved back to the agreed distance.
" yes. That's exactly where I'm going to and you should learn to mind your business", he uttered coldly her earlier words affecting him more than he thought they would.
"I'm sorry", she said noticing his annoyance.
" I would not disturb you anymore, just don't do anything that would make granny Steph and I worried", she said retreating to the house and he frowned feeling his inside sink.
"She won't disturb me anymore", those words rang like torture in his soul and he sighed muttering, " what's this girl doing to me?"

Houston moved deep inside the place, which stunk of alcohol and drugs. He wrinkled his nose, hating how toxic the place smelt.
His emerald eyes searched around before spotting his favorite buddy. He cast him a smirk as he moved over to him.
"Hey, man. What took you so long? I've been waiting here for quite some time", Derek said pouring that small poison into his mouth.
" I had some little things to deal with", he uttered taking the liquor from him and poured into a cup.
"How's the project going?", Houston asked paying him his serious look and Derek sighed putting his glass down.
" I still got nothing", he mustered and Houston cursed.
"It's been a year now. Aren't you the tech guy? In my own opinion, you seem to be quite alright. After getting your own justice", Houston uttered slamming his hands on the counter in annoyance and Derek blinked.
" you know that's not it. I really tried. It all leads nowhere. The person who killed your parents, seemed to perfectly cover up all their tracks", he explained and Houston only lost it.
"Of cause, that's what you keep telling me. Mine is always the impossible. Yours was way tougher than this and yet, you got the d**k. Why do I feel like you ain't even trying?", Houston mustered and Derek rolled his eyes at him.
" When did you start being so unreasonable? I can't believe all the accusations you are placing on me. How about you try getting the guy yourself since I'm so useless", Derek uttered not expecting Houston's next words.
"You know what? I would", he said placing his glass on the counter before walking off.
" man, man- damn!", Derek screamed at his figure which just kept drawing deeper and deeper away from him.
Houston walked out of the door, not noticing the guy in front of him. He bumped into him and the guy turned to face him in annoyance.
"d**k, watch it", he roared and Houston looked him over. Really not in the mood to put up with his rubbish.
He attempted to keep walking but the guy pulled him back with his jacket, " I'm talking to you, blockhead", he said spitting on his face and Houston gazed at him in the eyes for sometime before deciding to just walk off but the guys next words canceled that out.
"Good your stupid ass knows its place", he muttered as the other guys around him started to laugh.
" you asked for it", Houston said in his deadliest tone as he began to throw him punches.
The fight at first was all clean with just fist-fist but gradually as people started to gather it turned into something else. The other guy's friends brought out their guns and they started to aim them his way. He tried to dodge a couple but soon, he was shot in the leg, then in the arms.
Cursing, bringing out his gun from his back pocket. He clicked it but nothing came out. He cursed again when he realized that he had no bullet.
He began to run off but soon a thousand of them began to chase after him. He ran jumping into the first place at sight, as he managed to dodge the bullet they aimed at him from behind.
"Holy s**t", he uttered under his breath when a bullet almost collided with his back.
They charge in and he kept running faster, taking any route for safety. In a flash, he felt a hand pulling him into a corner and his body followed.
He rose his fist to punch the person in question but he immediately stopped once his eyes landed on the person.
"April?", he uttered in shock.
