Chapter 7

1903 Words
I spent the next hour doing Kat’s makeup and hair. I decided to go with curls, and a Smokey eye look with some clear lip gloss since Kat’s lips are already so rosy. Finally, I helped her into the dress, and she paired it with a pair of purple heels. “Ok, let’s go and set up the ballroom, and in about 20 minutes, the caterer should be here,” Kat says in thought. “Ok, I’ll just go and get another necklace. Then, I’ll meet you in the ballroom.” I smile as I leave her room. I quickly strode to my room and looked through my mum's jewellery box. Almost every piece of jewellery my mum owned or that my parents gave me was spelled permanently. I took out a set of diamond earrings, a matching bracelet and a matching necklace. I put the set on and checked myself in the mirror. It went with the dress well, so I was happy. I left my room and headed to the ballroom. “Ok, I just got off the phone with the caterer, and he’ll be here in 5 minutes. Can you wait here while I go to meet him?” Kat asks as I enter the ballroom. “Yeah, sure.” I smile, and she leaves. “Ok,” I whisper to myself. I walk to the middle of the ballroom and close my eyes. “Celebrationem pro patre ornament ad regem,” I exclaim as I raise my arms slowly. I open my eyes and look around. Everything looks amazing. I’m pleased with the spell. I’m glad I was able to create it. “The food will go against the back wall,” Kat says as she opens the doors for the caterer. “Wow! You have really outdone yourself, Kat.” The caterer says brightly as he looks around in awe. “Actually, this was all Clementine. Thank you so much, sweetie. It all looks amazing!” Kat says, hugging me. “Your welcome. I’m just glad I was able to help.” I smile at her. “Well, in that case. Well done on the decorating, Clementine.” The caterer says kindly as he holds his hand out to me. “My name is Henry Carson.” He smiles. “Clementine Phoenix.” I smile back as I shake his hand. “A pleasure to meet you, Miss Phoenix.” He says before rolling a cart of food and drinks towards the tables set up near the back wall. “Ok, that’s everything.” She says, shocked. “Is everything ok?” I ask her. “Yeah, no, sorry. I’m just used to running around before parties. I’m always doing this alone, so I’m constantly busy for the entire day before a party. Since you decorated the room, there’s nothing else for me to do. Henry takes care of food and drinks so.” She says as she looks around. “What about music?” I ask her suddenly. “Oh! Crap! I completely forgot about music!” She says as she slowly starts to freak out. “Hey! It’s ok. Calm down. I can help with that too.” I whisper to her. “Really?” She asks, hopeful. “No, I can’t ask you to do something else too. You’ve already done so much.” She quickly denies my offer. “I want to do it,” I tell her as I place my hands on her shoulders. “If you’re sure.” She smiles at me. “I am. Do you have a sound system and everything?” I ask her. “Yeah, just go through that door there, and you’ll find all of the equipment. I’m just gonna help, Henry.” She says, pointing to a black door before walking to Henry to help. I walk through the black door and find all the sound equipment. After making sure the door is closed and no one can see me, I use my telekinesis and start to move all the cords into the places they should be. Once I’ve finished, I turn the system on, but nothing happens. “Hmm. Oh, there’s a fried cable. Ok.” I say to myself as I check the cable. It looks like someone hacked at it with a butter knife. “Instaurabo,” I say as I concentrate on the sound system entirely. I want to make sure I don’t miss something. It’s better to repair everything at once rather than one by one as I find new problems. I turn the sound system on again, and feedback rings through the speakers. “You got it to work?” Kat asks, shocked as she opens the door. “Like magic.” I smile cheekily since Henry is standing behind her. “You are a blessing, my dear!” Kat exclaims, hugging me again. I chuckle and hug her back as the doorbell rings. “Henry, could you finished setting up the tables while Clementine and I greet the guests?” Kat asks politely. “Of course.” He says and walks back to the tables. “Come on, sweetie. I want you to meet everyone.” She smiles as she takes my hand. We walk to the front door, and Kat opens it. Standing in a long ass line is around 70 people. All dressed in charming suits and elegant dresses, much like Kat and I. “Welcome! It’s so good to see you, Hope.” Kat says warmly as she hugs the woman and kisses the mans cheek. “It’s good to see you too, Kat. And who is this beautiful young woman?” The woman, Hope asks, smiling brightly. “This is Clementine Phoenix. Sweetie, this is Hope and George. They are some of mine and Andrew’s oldest friends.” Kat smiles. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.” I smile as I shake their hands. “Go on to the ballroom. Henry is just setting up the food and drinks now.” Kat smiles, and they walk towards the ballroom.   Kat introduces me to each guest. In total, I think there were about 150 guests in attendance. It’s a good thing their house is a castle. “Ah! Brent, welcome. Andrew should be back soon. Why don’t you wait in the ballroom with everyone else.” Kat says as she hugs the last guest. “Thank you, Kat. It’s good to see you. Brent Thatcher. What’s your name?” He asks as he takes my hand and places a light kiss on the back. “Clementine Phoenix,” I say politely as I blush a little. This man is such a gentleman. “Ah! The singing exchange student?” He asks with a bright smile. “I guess so. Though I’m not much of a singer. I just sing randomly.” I reply modestly. I know I can sing. I just don’t like to brag. “She’s incredible. Wait until you hear her sing. Clem, this is the Brent that Andrew made a meeting with for tomorrow.” Kat informs me. “Oh, oh, ok. It’s nice to meet you, Mr Thatcher.” I say sweetly. “Please, just call me Brent. Would you save me a dance later tonight?” He asks kindly. “Of course.” I smile, and he nods, smiling brightly as he walks to the ballroom. “Oh! They’re back.” Kat says as she closes the door. “Quick. Let’s get to the ballroom.” We hurry to the ballroom and wait in silence for the boys to bring Andrew in. The doors open, and Andrew stands there in a black suit with a red button-up and a black tie. “SURPRISE!” We all shout happily as we cheer and clap. Andrew looks shocked. His expression is a mixture of happiness and shock. “Happy birthday, my love,” Kat says as she kisses his cheek. “This is amazing, Hunny. Thank you so much.” He says, hugging her tightly. “Hey, Hey, Hey! The makeup! The dress! The hair!” I exaggerate before chuckling. We all laugh together as I fix Kat’s curls. “Happy birthday Andrew.” I smile brightly. “Thank you, Clem.” He says, hugging me. “You’ve managed to top your last party, ma. Wow!” Dominic whistles. “This is not my work.” She smiles back. “What do you mean?” Zac asks, confused. “I did this,” I say quietly. “I’ve been working all week on creating a spell. Every decoration in this room is magical. Once the sun rises, it will all just disappear. The spell is linked to the moon. Once the moon goes away, so will the decorations.” I say as I look around at the decorations. I’ve really outdone myself with this spell. “I hope you like it.” I smile shyly. “It’s incredible. Thank you.” Andrew says genuinely. “Your welcome. Excuse me while I go turn the music on.” I excuse myself. “Ok, boys, go and get changed. I want you back here in 20 minutes.” I hear Kat order, followed by the boys leaving. I walk to the sound system and turn it on as I put in the music Kat had chosen. Once the music starts up, some people start dancing immediately. I walked towards Kat and Andrew, who were talking with Brent. “Kat and Andrew tell me you did the decorations?” Brent smiles as I stand beside Kat. “Yes, do you like them?” I ask politely. “They are amazing. Good choice of colours and styles. What made you think of them?” Brent asks curiously. “Well, Kat is always calling Andrew her king.” I smile as Kat blushes, and Andrew holds her tight against him. “And I’ve watched Andrew interact with the boys. He’s what every father should aspire to be like, and he reminds me of my own father. So with those in mind, I kept a short saying in mind when choosing colours and such.” I tell them truthfully as they listen intently. “What was it?” Kat asks curiously. “Celebration for a father, decorations for a king,” I tell them with a small smile. “We’re back,” Isaac says as he goes to kiss Kat’s head. “Ah! Watch it!” I scold him, and he pulls back, shocked. “Watch What?” He asks, confused. “It took me an hour to perfect this being right here,” I tell him, gesturing to Kat's person. “Do not mess up my work,” I say with sass. “My apologies.” Isaac chuckles and stands beside me.
