Chapter 6

February 2nd
I woke up to the sun shining on my face yet again. I don’t mind, though. The sun and the sounds of the morning birds singing is actually a great way to wake up.
I get up and complete my morning routine, shower, teeth, makeup and hair. Then, I walk into my wardrobe to see 4 other uniforms. I slip on a set of black underwear and bra and put my uniform on. I then grab my jacket and walk back into my room.
As I sit down to put my shoes on, there’s a knock on my door.
“Who is it?!” I call out.
“It’s Kat!”
“Come in!” I shout as I slip into my shoes.
“Are you ready for school?” She asks as she opens my door.
“Yep. Uniform, bag, wallet, phones, homework.” I list everything as I check my bag. “Oh! My ring.” I quickly grab my ring and put it on, followed by my necklace.
Yesterday was not fun. I don’t like feeling my insides shift because of my lack of magic.
“Is something wrong?” I ask Kat because she looks like she’s about to tell me something big.
“Oh, no. Nothings wrong. I was hoping you could do me a favour?” She asks shyly.
“Sure. What is it?” I ask politely. Also, I’m kind of intrigued.
“Andrews birthday is on the 5th of this month. I was hoping you could help me decorate the ballroom? We’re having a big party on Friday night.” Kat explains.
“Sure. I’m sure I can whip something up to help decorate.” I smile at her mischievously.
“Oh, thank you so much, Clementine,” Kat says as she hugs me tightly.
“Can’t... breathe.” I croak out as she continues to squeeze me.
“Oh, sorry.” Kat chuckles.
“It’s ok.” I smile as we both leave my room.
Throughout the week, I helped Kat plan Andrews party in secret. It took me a few attempts, but I finally perfected the decorating spell I was going to use. Since the party would start at 8, I decided to tie the magic to the moon. So, once the sun came up, the decorations would all just disappear. No mess, no fuss. Kat was happy about that, too.
I also hung out with the boys a bit too. They are a bunch of weirdos when they get together. But, they are a real family. They all told me stories about their childhood and everything. It was really amazing. It hasn’t even been a week since I’ve been here, and I’m already comfortable with everyone. I’ve started singing whenever the urge hits me. And they all seem interested in my magic, but I still haven’t learned to trust yet, so I’ve been keeping my magic quiet. Only Kat has seen me do anything, and that was the decorating spell.
Friday, February 5th
As soon as I got home from school on Friday, I went up to my room and did my homework as quickly as possible. It took me about an hour.
“Clem?!” Kat shouts from the hallway.
“Yeah?!” I shout back.
Kat comes into my room with a serious face.
“What is it?” I ask, worried.
“We didn’t go dress shopping for you. So I did it today. I bought 2 dresses for you to choose from.” She smiles as she holds up 2 dresses in protective cases. “Try them on for me?” She asks with hopeful eyes.
“Sure.” I smile, and we both walk into my closet.
I take off my uniform and change my underwear. Kat hands me the first dress which is, a sleeveless white ball gown with a tight bodice. It looked terrific and accented my breasts.
“You look incredible. Let’s try the second one.” Kat smiles as she helps me out of the dress.
The second dress is a dark blue skin-tight dress with off the shoulder long sleeves. Again, it was just as beautiful.
“Oh! They both look amazing!” Kat says as her eyes water.
“I think I’ll go with the white one,” I say softly.
“Of course. Let me help you change again.” Kat says sweetly.
“Have the boys taken Andrew out yet?” I ask as I step out of the blue dress.
“Not yet. They should be leaving any second, though.” She says as she tilts her head as if she’s listening for something.
“Ma?” I hear Isaac call from my room.
Kat smiles and walks to my closet door.
“Yes, Isaac?” She asks.
“We’re just taking Dad out now. Where are we taking him, again?” I hear Isaac ask.
“Dan’s. I ordered a new suit for him. Dan called me this morning to let me know it was there. Take him there and tell him to put the suit on. Then bring him back here. It should take about 2-3 hours. Everyone should be here by then.” Kat says as she stands in my closet doorway.
“Ok. See you later!” Isaac says as he runs off.
“Ok, let’s get ready!” She shouts, turning back to me.
I smile at her, and she helps me back into the white ball gown. Luckily, I changed into a strapless white bra and matching panties.
“Now, shoes. I know. Come with me.” She says, motioning for me to follow her.
We walk down the hall to her and Andrew’s room. She takes me to her closet, and I’m shocked at how many clothes this woman has.
She pulls out a pair of white stilettos and hands them to me. I slip them on, and I’m surprised to find they are incredibly comfortable.
“Which dress do you think?” She asks as she goes through her dresses.
I look through her dresses with her, occasionally checking her figure to help me find the perfect dress.
“Do you have a plain white dress?” I ask as an idea pops into my head.
“I do. Uh, here. Why do you ask?” She says as she shows me a white off the shoulder ball gown.
“What’s Andrew’s Favourite colour?” I ask as I take the dress off the rack and walk out of the closet.
“The same colour as my hair.” She says shyly.
“Ok,” I say as I lay the dress on her bed.
I look at Kat’s hair and imprint the shade into my memory.
“Purpura,” I say as I wave my hand over the dress.
GASP
“Oh, Clementine. This is beautiful. Thank you so much.” Kat exclaims as she sits down and admires the dress.
I smile back at her. “It’s nothing. It’s the least I could do for you allowing me to be a part of your family.” I say truthfully.
“Oh, sweetie.” She says as tears build in her eyes.
“Ok, let’s get your make up done and get you into that gorgeous dress,” I chirp.
“Ok.” She chuckles.
