Kat P.O.V
I woke up early to check on Clem before Isaac woke up. When I reached her room, I knocked on her door but there was no answer.
“Clem? Are you awake sweetie?” I called out as I walked into her room.
She wasn’t in bed and it looked like she hadn’t come back after this morning. I feel terrible for her. She saw Isaac cheat on her and there isn’t even anything she can do to stop it from happening.
I sighed at the thought and left her room to make her some breakfast.
I walked to the kitchen and made her some pancakes. I put it on a tray with a bottle of orange juice before walking outside.
I made my way to the garden and saw her sitting near the lake.
“Clem?” I called to her as I walked closer.
“Morning, Kat.” She says with a blank expression.
“Have you been out here all night?” I ask as I kneel beside her and put the tray down.
“Yeah.” She says as she opens the juice.
“I’m sorry sweetie,” I say sadly as I look at the water.
“It’s ok. It’s happened before. With Tash.” She says as she looks to the water. “I saw it happen in a vision exactly like this time and I tried to stop it from coming true, but all I did was get myself hit. I can pretend like I don’t know it’s going to happen because I still love him. The vision doesn’t change that. I’m just worried that I might snap and kill Nina.” Clem tells me as we both watch the water.
“Oh, sweetie,” I whisper sadly.
I sit with her as she eats and we both continue to watch the water.
After a while, the water forms little waves. I look at Clem and see her eyes full of sadness and anger and heartbreak. Looking back at the water, I understand what’s happening. The water is reflecting her inner turmoil.
“Alright, sweetie. Let’s head back inside. You need to start getting ready for school.” I say quietly as I stand up and hold my hand out for her.
“Ok.” She whispers as I help her up.
I pick up the tray and Clem picks up her phone and dock before we walk inside.
“Go and get ready and I’ll come and get you when it’s time to go,” I tell her as we reach her room.
“Thank you, Kat,” She whispers as she closes her door.
“Your welcome, sweetie,” I say sadly before walking down to the kitchen.
Clementine P.O.V
When I got back to my room, I went straight into my bathroom and had a hot shower to calm down. I couldn’t stop thinking about that premonition.
Once I was finished in the shower, I went into my closet and put on my uniform. I slipped into my black heels and sat down at my vanity table to brush my hair. I didn’t feel like putting on any make-up, so I just put on some clear lip gloss. As I finished putting my hair into a fishtail braid, someone knocked on my door.
“Who is it?” I ask as I stand up and pick up my bag.
“It’s Andrew!”
“Come in,” I tell him as I look in my bag.
“How are you feeling this morning? Kat told me you were outside the rest of the night. Did you get any sleep?” Andrew asks worriedly.
“I’ll be fine. Yeah, I was, but I just sat there staring at the pond all night.” I tell him as I put my homework into my bag along with my phone and wallet.
“Ok, well I think I have some good news for you.” He says with a small smile.
“What is it?” I ask curiously.
“I just got off the phone with Brent and he has a meeting set up for this afternoon. So, Kat will pick you up early and bring you back here to change at 12.”
“Cool. Is it just with Brent?” I ask.
“No. It’s with the girl he has hired to write songs for you. As well as a few music industry professionals.” He smiles.
“Oh! Awesome.” I say happily.
“Alright, let’s get you downstairs and off to school.”
We both left my room and walked downstairs. As usual, I was with Dante in his car and this time we left first.
I had just finished the quiz that our science teacher had given us when there was a knock on the door.
“How can I help you, Mrs Mateo?” The teacher asked politely.
“I’m just here to pick up Clementine,” Kat says smiling.
“Of course. Miss Phoenix, have you finished your quiz?”
“Yes, Sir,” I reply as I put my things away and stand up.
I kiss Isaac and walk to the front of the class. After handing my quiz in I wave to the boys and leave with Kat.
“How has your day been?” Kat asks as we walk to her car.
“It’s hard to keep pretending that I didn’t see anything. At least Isaac hasn’t sensed anything wrong yet.” I say sadly as we climb into her car.
“He can’t.” She says as we start driving home.
“What do you mean?” I ask confused.
“I can’t sense how you feel, so I know Isaac can’t. I don’t understand why, or how. But it’s as if you’ve blocked our powers.”
“Oh. Sorry.” I whisper.
“Do you know why we can’t sense how you feel?” Kat asks.
“I don’t know exactly but it’s happened before. Mum was an empath too. When Tash died, she couldn’t sense my emotions either. We never figured out why or how I did it.” I tell her as we stop and get out.
We walk inside to see Andrew talking with Brent.
“The best way to describe it is, it feels like I block my emotions. I still feel them but it’s about a quarter of what I would normally feel.” I say as we stop to greet Andrew and Brent.
“Hello, Clementine. How are you?” Brent smiles as he gives me a small hug.
“I’ve been better,” I say with a sad smile.
“What’s wrong?” He asks with a sad frown.
“I had a- Uh, premonition,” I tell him as I hug Andrew.
“I’m assuming it wasn’t good?”
“Indeed. Kat and I woke up to her screaming. Luckily the boys were out getting more blood bags.” Andrew says sadly.
“So What happened? It must’ve been terrible to wake up screaming loud enough to wake Kat and Andrew.” Brent says concerned.
“She saw Isaac cheat on her,” Kat says sadly as she holds my hand.
“Oh my.”
“And her premonitions are like mine. They can’t be changed.” Andrew adds.
“I’m so sorry, Clementine,” Brent whispers sadly.
“It won’t be the first time. I’ll be fine.” I say as I block out my emotions to stop myself from crying.
“We should get you ready,” Kat says, squeezing my hand lightly.
“Yeah.” I nod slowly.
“We’ll see you, boys, soon,” Kat says before pulling me toward my bedroom.
