Clementine P.O.V
I woke up to Dante shaking me.
“Dante?” I ask groggily as I sit up. “A blanket?” I say confused.
“Mum put it on you earlier. Here, I brought you a smoothie and some dinner.” Dante says as he sits beside me, placing a tray in front of me.
“I’m not hungry,” I say sadly.
“At least have the smoothie?” He asks sadly.
“Only for you, Lord Smoothie,” I say with a sad smile.
Dante chuckles and hands me the smoothie.
I sat in silence with Dante as we had our smoothies.
“Oh, your phone broke earlier so I took it to my friend and he fixed it for you,” Dante says suddenly as he hands me my phone and dock.
“Oh, thank you,” I answer quietly.
I turn my phone on and put it on the dock before picking a song.
“Skies are crying, I am watching
Catching teardrops in my hands
Only silence, as it's ending
Like we never had a chance
Do you have to make me feel like
There's nothing left of me?
Would it make you, feel better
To watch me while I bleed?
All my windows still are broken
But I'm standing on my feet
I'm gonna stay right here,
Watch you disappear
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper, like a skyscraper
(Like a skyscraper)
Like a skyscraper, like a skyscraper.”
“You even sound amazing when your crying. It’s unique how you put your emotions into every word,” Dante says softly, playing with my hair as I lay on his lap.
“Thanks, I guess,” I say quietly.
We sat there for a while in silence. I checked the time and saw it was 11pm.
“You should go back. We have school tomorrow.” I say to Dante as I sit up.
“What about you?” He asks worriedly.
“Please, Stop. Stop worrying. It hurts.” I whisper as I bring my knees to my chest.
“I’m sorry Clem. I can’t help it. You’re my best friend.” Dante says sadly.
“It’s ok. That’s why I’m out here. I can’t be close to you guys. It hurts too much. Go to bed. I’ll be here in the morning.” I say with a sad smile.
“Ok. I’ll see you in the morning,” Dante says as he kisses my forehead and leaves.
I sat in the same spot all night, just staring at the water in the pond. The rain had stopped while I was asleep. I had put on some slow music I use when I can’t sleep or I need to meditate. It didn’t make me sleep but it did help me meditate for hours. So that was a plus. When I felt my skin start to warm, I checked the time and saw it was 8am.
I turned off my music and stood up with my phone and dock. I made myself invisible and walked toward the house. When I got inside, I kept quiet and made my way to my room, avoiding everyone in the hallway. It’s a good thing being invisible stops them from sensing me in any way.
I got to my room and locked my door. I had a shower and put on my uniform and shoes. I got my bag ready and put my phone and wallet inside. I made myself invisible again and walked down to the lobby. I walked to Kat and Andrew and squeezed their hands as I spoke to them through my telepathy.
‘Don’t say anything. I’m here. I just don’t want to acknowledge Isaac.’ I tell them and they nod slightly.
I walked to Dante and held his hand.
‘Don’t say anything.’ I tell him and he nods slightly as well.
Holding his hand, we walked to his car and got in, driving off to school.
When Dante and I got to school, I stayed by his side farthest from Isaac. I remained invisible while we waited for class to start.
"Hey, where is Clem?" Isaac asked sadly.
"She's Clementine to you," Dom said angrily.
"I just wanted to know where she is, Dom," Isaac replied.
"She'll be in class. That's all you need to know." Dante told him before discreetly taking my hand and walking away.
We walked behind a building at the back of the school and I turned off my invisibility.
"Are you ok, Clem?" Dante asked worriedly.
"I don't think so, but I've dealt with worse. So I will be, I just need a few weeks." I told him honestly.
"That's ok. Take your time. I'll be here for you every step of the way. I promise." He said, hugging me tightly.
The bell for class rang and Dante and I started walking to our classroom.
When we got to our classroom, Isaac was making out with Nina in front of the door. Dante growled, grabbing Isaac's attention. He looked me in the eye and I could feel the guilt and regret he felt, but it won't change anything. He had still broken not only my heart but every ounce of trust I had for anyone. No matter what anyone does, I don't think I will ever trust again. I blocked my emotions and walked past him, into class.
