Chapter 4 The Meeting

1273 Words
Aaron I was sleeping when I felt Jax trying to mind link me. "Our western border was attacked by 12 rogue wolves last night. We caught one and killed the rest." "Why wasn't I informed about this last night only?" "Alpha we did try to reach you but you were not answering and besides we took care of it." "Where is the rogue, you've captured?" "He was badly injured so we took him to the infirmary and now that he is healed we are taking him down to the dungeon." "I'll be down there in a bit." I shut off my mind link before Jax could say anything else. Shit! This is getting more frequent now. Every time I let my wolf free, he takes over and I feel nothing but darkness. It's like having a black out. I keeping losing control to him and he breaks free without a care in the world. "I do care." Ace, my wolf spoke from the back of my mind. I turned him on, on my 18th birthday, 394 years ago and I am still not used to him. It's like our subconscious mind speaking, the only difference being that mine is taking control of my body, pushing me in the very back and running around aimlessly. It almost feels like he is looking for someone who is never there. "Of course you do." I said plainly making my way to my bathroom for a hot shower. My whole body hurts from running around all night. "Something is changed human" he uses the stupid nickname he gave me almost 3 centuries ago. "What?" I asked getting curious. "I don't know. It's just, I think that I don't like your father's idea of getting us married to someone who isn't our mate." "You mean getting me married? And we don't get a mate, remember?" I spoke not liking where this conversation is going. I hate the idea of getting married too but waiting for a mate who doesn't exists is absolutely ridiculous. Wolves are blessed with mates and vampires find their beloved even if they are a thousand year younger but because I am both I don't get this blessing. No one can have everything. "I know but what if we find someone we actually like?" Ace is trying to be reasonable. Wonderful. "Ace, I don't know where is this coming from but if this is about the stupid find-a-bride ball, then there is absolutely nothing to worry about. I am not getting married." I said stepping out of the shower and wrapping around my towel. "That's good." he said and I felt him relaxing. " What happened last night Ace? I don't remember anything after when we stopped by the lake." "I think.. I took over?" Ace is stuttering? WHAT. THE. HELL? "You don't know what happened either?" "No." Something is definitely wrong with me. I just need to find out what. ..... "What made you think you'll make it out of my territory after attacking it?" I pulled the rogues pinky finger nail. We have been at this for an hour now and all he is saying is that there will be blood. Jax and Cole have been questioning him before I even arrived and all they managed to get out of him was also that there will be blood. "i***t has been saying this on repeat since we caught him, Alpha. It is like it's in his brain." Cole said finally breaking the silence. "I think he is in shock after getting captured. Maybe?" Jax said sounding like he was asking a question. "I can't be here anymore for now. I have to change my clothes and meet father. His old friend Steve and his daughter will be arriving here tonight." I said looking down at my now covered in blood clothes. "Isn't Steve the Steve Evans? As in of the old lords or something?"Jax asked me. "Yes, he is the son of the two original vampires and is one of the last purebloods. He was father's right hand man and he took care of the vampires in the Palace." "Just like Kaden is yours?" Cole asked. "Yes, but Steve stepped down when I became the king and Kaden volunteered for the head position." "I think I remember him and his wife. We were small, 10 i guess, but from what I remember she was really sweet."Jax said pointing at him and Cole. "Jenna, his wife. Yes, she was sweet. Too much for her own good. She tried to talk me to go to Disneyland once." "Wow, that's a new piece of information." Jax whistled and Cole tried to hide his smile but failed miserably once Jax started laughing and they both giggled like two teenagers. Controlling their laughs, Cole asked "So did you go?" "I wish I had. She would have still been here." Jax and Cole stopped laughing altogether, so I continued. "Jenna wanted to go to Disneyland, so Steve had planned to take their daughter to Disneyland. She was a real fan of fantasy and magic. She wanted me and mother to tag along because she thought we were fighting over something and we were, but what she didn't knew was that we were always like this. When she asked me, of course I said no. So she talked Steve into waiting for a week, so that she can convince me to go and enjoy. That's the very night she went missing. No one knew if she was dead or killed. There was nothing to look for. Not even a single lead. Steve looked everywhere but he couldn't bear the thought of leaving his daughter for looking for someone who was probably dead.So he gave up, took his daughter and got the hell out of here." Jax and Cole were not moving and kept staring at me like I grew another head. "Why are we listening to this now only?" Jax asked, sounding offended. "Father lost his best friend that night and he made sure that no one knows about Steve anymore, so that his daughter is safe and away from all of this." I said getting out of the dungeon. "I told you this because you are now my Beta and Gamma, you deserve to know the truth but make sure you keep this to yourselves and don't tell this to anyone. I want everything to be perfect when they arrive and I want more security around Steve's daughter's room. Is that clear?" "Yes Alpha." Jax and Cole said together. Guards locked the dungeon doors behind us. I asked Cole to check up on the rogue again in sometime and see if he says anything other that 'there will be blood.' ..... I was in my office when I received a message from my father to come down to the living room. I closed my laptop and got out realizing that Steve is here. As soon as I made my way down the stairs something hit me like a wave of pleasure which soon turned to panic and then anger. I smelled her before I saw her. Freshly prepared coffee and roses and the Ocean. How can someone smell like the Ocean? She is standing with her back to me and when I went towards her she turned toward me and as soon as she looked at my face, my eyes to be exact, she froze. Ace howled in happiness and frustration. This can't be happening. No. We DON'T get one. We CAN'T have one. We DON'T DESERVE one but there she was right in front of me. MY MATE. MINE.
