Chapter 5 The mate?

We landed around midnight on an airstrip that was barely visible. I almost had a panic attack. Thank God that werewolves have supervision, hence our pilot could see everything. As for me I couldn't see anything.

I am still human but I get a few benefits of being the daughter of a pureblood vampire. I am stronger than an average human and I have better reflex. Cherry on the top I can talk to my dad in my mind. It took a lot of practice but we were able to open my mind and create a link between our minds.

We got out of the jet and a fancy black car was waiting for us. Some vampire named Kaden, who is supposedly the right hand man of the Alpha King greeted us. He and dad know each other as dad was apparently there when he joined the Royal Vampire Coven. He is definitely old but looks in his early 30s. He is good looking to say the least with jet black hair, blue eyes and toned muscle. He looked at me with something I couldn't place my finger at and gave me a smile that showed that he means no harm. I returned his with a small one of mine.

Vampires barely smile. It's in their nature.They live for very long and lose their smile in the way somewhere. That's how they keep the vampire numbers in check. If a vampire doesn't wish to live anymore, he/she is simply put out his/her misery with a stake to their heart. All they have to do is ask and they'll be gone by the night. Whereas werewolves live a long and happy life with their mates and family and eventually die of old age. There hasn't been a war for a long time and barely anyone is killed except the rogues who attack the packs.

Dad and Kaden started a conversation like they have known each other their whole life. Maybe they did but they haven't met each other in the past 17 years so I find it quite weird. The Castle is still an hour away so I put on some music and started my Taylor Swift playlist.

I felt someone touching with my hair and opened my eyes. I must have fell asleep. Dad smiled at me and shook me once again. He was saying something but I couldn't make it out as Black Space was blasting in my ears and tried to sleep again but he took off my earphone and asked me to out the window.

"It's marvelous!" I gasp at the glistening river in front of me. It is really beautiful and the moonlight is making it look more beautiful. I quickly took out my phone and clicked a picture when dad said "You can't post it anywhere Pumpkin. We are in the Royal territory and you what is here-"

"-stays here" I completed it for him. He has been telling the same thing since we got on the jet. "It's just so insta worthy though."

"Everything here is insta worthy, wait till you see the Castle." Kaden said from the front. I gave him a small nod and pocketed my phone.

We crossed the river and drove for a couple more miles when small cottages came into view. They were on both sides of the road and Dad told me that these are for the Wolves who have their own families. Moving further we came across a big, no, a massive building and Kaden tells that it's the Pack house and Wolves live here, especially those who are single and looking for there mates. Next to the Pack house was another building and it is the school for the children. "If someone wishes to go to college, they are given permission but they usually come back after they complete their course. Wolves don't like to stay away from their families, remember." Dad answered the question I was about to ask.

We crossed several more cottages. The pack house is located in the center of the cottages and Kaden said that it houses 300 werewolves and the cottages have around 400 families living in them.

I could see the ocean now and right in front of us was the Castle. It's straight out of movies to say the least. It is made with black stones and it must give an awesome view of the ocean. We stop right in front of it and I turn the opposite to see and there was a huge clearing where some people were training and behind them were woods. One look and I got a feeling that it's better if I stay away from them but there was this voice in me that wanted to explore them right now.

Kaden opened the door for me as I was lost looking at the woods. "Thank you."

"You are welcome."

As we go in the Castle, something feels different. Everyone who saw Dad, gave him a low bow, welcoming him back. Some vampires even hugged him. Dad had lived here for very long time and just 17 years away don't feel long now.

While dad was talking to a couple I turned to Kaden and asked him, "Only vampires live here?"

"No, wolves live here too but right now they are asleep." he stated as a matter of fact and I checked my watch. Of course they are asleep, it's 1:30 in the morning and then I realized why there are only vampires here right now. I looked up at Kaden and he smiled at me once again.

"There's nothing to be embarrassed about."

"I am not embarrassed. I am just curious."

"Well then for your curiosity, the wolves here in the Castle are of high rankings. The Beta, Gamma and their families."Kaden told me and I simply nodded.

Dad introduced me to the couple he was talking to earlier and they both looked so pale now that I am close. A lot of them were now looking at me curiously and then suddenly I felt a wave of panic hit me and I stared playing with my fingers. Dad must have seen it as he excused us and we made our way into a long corridor.

"Just take deep breaths" Dad whispered and held my hand. He knows how to calm me down as he has been doing it for some time now. I was always alone and the only friends I have are Marissa and Brian, so whenever there are people, I panic.

We walk into a big living room where a couple is waiting for us. The man hugged dad and the lady looks at me and smile, so I smile back at her.

"Finally you are back, my friend." The man says to dad.

"It's been a long time Steve." the lady says as she hugs dad too.

"Yes, indeed it has been a long time Charlotte." Dad say and realization hit me. They are the King and Queen. Well former but nonetheless. They all turn to me and I just simply stare at them not knowing what to do. I decided on a small bow but before I could the queen wraps her arms around me and I am too stunned to do anything so I just hug her back.

"You have grown so much." She says pulling back from me and then King Edward offer me his hand so I shake it. "You look so much like your mother." he adds.

I was about to reply him when I suddenly feel the hair on the back of my neck stand. Something happens in that very moment. My brain is telling me to run but my body is frozen in fear and panic. I have never felt like this in my entire life and despite my brain screaming at me to run for the hills I turn around to see what this is about.

I see a very tall man standing by the stairs and as soon as our eyes meet I freeze for the second time tonight.

His eyes. They are exactly like the eyes in my dreams. No his eyes are the one I see in my dreams. Green Eyes. Kill me now.

Whatever spell he had on me breaks when he starts walking toward me and on instinct I try to back away but either I am too slow or he is too fast because somehow in 2 seconds he is in front of me. Right in front of me with his green eyes and woodsy, dark chocolate and citrusy smell. He opens his mouth and says the words I couldn't, even my worst nightmare, imagine someone saying to me.

"Mate"

Panic hits me again and I can't think of anything but I somehow keep repeating his word ib my mind again and again.

Mate.

Mate?

I am his mate?

How?

The Mate?

I don't know what happened but now he is looking at me with pure concern and dad is saying something I can't understand and before I know I am falling down. Darkness clouds my vision and all I can feel is someone holding me before the darkness swallow me.

THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING.
