The True Wrath of a Goddess

It was a cold, dark, and lonely night. It’s 11:25 pm and I’m walking home from work. I feel like I’m being followed and watched. I’m only a few miles from home, but something feels off. I can see my building coming into view, so I pull out my keys and start walking a little faster. I finally get to the front of my building and put in my code and pull the door closed behind me. I feel a little safer now and I walk upstairs to my apartment. I go to my room and get undressed and go start the shower. I turn the water on as hot as I can stand it and get in and let all my stress and worries melt away. When I get out it’s 12:30 am. I throw on a tank top and a pair of shorts, then lay down on my bed and turn on the tv.  I look through the channels until I land on the show Charmed (not the new one) and put the remote down and start watching the show. My phone goes off and says I have a text, but I’m not in the mood to look at it. I open my bedside drawer and grab my vape. I can smoke some to try and sleep. I finally get the nerve to look at my phone and then I get another text as I read them, I start to panic. My mother and father have finally found me, and I must go back. I sit up in my bed and look at my window. I can't run from who I am anymore. Hello, my name is Kora the goddess of spring also known as Persephone. I’m the daughter of Zeus and Demeter.  I have been running from them for years. I knew they would find me sooner or later, but I was hoping for later. I was hoping to have more fun in my life away from Olympus, but it was short-lived, and I must face the inevitable. I must give up my life and face my true calling, I must go back to Olympus before they come and drag me back. I start packing all my things and get everything together and leave a note in the apartment manager’s box and go back to Olympus. As soon as I teleport into Olympus my father’s goons come and take me to his office. All my things are left outside of his office door. I walk around until Zeus walks in with my mother and his wife Hera. I look down at the floor and wait for the yelling to begin. “What were you thinking we need you here and you just disappeared.  You can’t do that if you have duties to tend to, you can’t just run from them!” my mother yells at me and I look up at her “WELL MOTHER IF I KNEW WHERE YOU WANTED ME THEN I COULD DO THAT. I’M A GODDESS OF SPRING, WRATH, AND FERTILITY. SO, MOTHER TELL ME WHERE THE HELL YOU WANT ME!” I yell back and look at Hera ``I'm sorry you have to be here for this, but I guess my father doesn’t trust my anger issues.” I say and then look at Zeus ``As for you if you want me to stay happy in Olympus let me have fun no one else has a certain time they must be home, and neither should I. I’m done coming back after I get done with my tasks so I will be getting my apartment and you and Demeter will NOT be welcomed there. It will be my safe space. Are we done now?” I say and look at them and Zeus nods.  I walk out and grab my things and start walking to an apartment building that I know of that should let me in at this hour. As soon as I walk in everyone is staring at me like I have three heads. I just shrug it off and walk up to the front desk. “Hello, are there any apartments available?” I ask and the nymph nods “Okay how much and also I have two Olympians that are not allowed in my apartment they are Zeus and Demeter.” I say and she nods “here are the keys and paperwork just give me the papers and two months’ rent in the morning. I know you just came back from the mortal realm so just relax and I’m giving you the penthouse apartment at the rate of the others so enjoy your new home miss Kora.” She says and hands me everything. I take my bags upstairs and look at my new home. I walk into a four-bedroom three and a half bath penthouse with a heated indoor pool overlooking Olympus.  I start looking for places to go shopping tomorrow and trade my cash for drachma. I lay down on the couch that is provided and fall asleep. I wake up and get ready for the day I walk downstairs and hand the paperwork to the nymph. “I’ll be right back with the money,” I say and walk outside and down to the bank. I walk in and the whole bank goes quiet. I walk up to the counter “I need to exchange all of this for Drachma.” I say and put six duffle bags of cash on the counter. “Okay miss Kora but we will have to open an account for you. How much do you need in Drachma?” the teller asks, and I try to do the math in my head.  “I need 1124587.46 in drachma coins.” I say and the teller nods “okay just come with me and we will get your account open for you.” He says and I nod. I get all of that taken care of and walk back to my building and hand the nymph four months’ rent instead of two “miss kora I only needed two.” She says “I know but I like it here and wanted to hold my place for a while. Oh, and what is your name?” I ask, “my name is Dryad Miss Kora, and you don’t have to worry about holding your apartment, no one wants the penthouse.” She says and I nod “well that’s a relief and is there an elevator to the penthouse?” I ask and she nods and points to the hall beside her desk. I smile and nod “okay I’ll be back, and I might have movers to help with some stuff.” I say and she nods  “Have fun shopping.” She says and I smile. “I’ll try,” I say and walk out of the door. I walk into the first store and I immediately fall in love with a Rose Gold bedroom set and it’s the only 1000 drachma. I go to the front counter to pay for it in full. When I get up to the front counter, I continue to look at the bedroom set “How may I help you?” I hear someone ask from behind me “yes I’d like to get the king-sized rose gold bedroom set over by the door.” I say and pull out my card so I can pay. When I turn around, I see Eros standing behind me. “Well Persephone it’s good to see you again, we need to catch up, and also that will be 1000 Drachma.” He says and I smile and hand him my card  “I would like that,” I say, and I sign the paperwork and I teleport the boxes to my building, and then load them into the elevator and head up to my apartment and start arranging my room and putting everything where it needs to be. I look at my watch and remember that tonight is the winter solstice and there is normally a party and I don’t have anything to wear that will piss off my parents and maybe find someone to hook up with. I walk out of my apartment and down to one of the shops I was at earlier. I go in and look around for an elegant, but short dress when I bump into someone and I look up to apologize and I see that it is Aphrodite, and she smiles “How have you been Kora?” she asks, “I’ve been okay until they found me.” I say and look down “I know hun they asked me to help, but you looked so happy I told them no I couldn’t help bring you back after seeing you that happy.” She says “Well thank you, but I do need your help now. I need to find a dress that is elegant, but short.” I say and she smiles and hands me the perfect dress. “it’s on me hun and I’ll do your hair and makeup.” She says with an evil smile and we leave and go to her apartment to get ready.  I smile at her and look around her apartment. It looks like mine, just a little smaller. We go into her room and I put on the dress and then sit down at her vanity so she can do my hair and makeup. “I’m going to make you look so hot!” she exclaims, and I smile. She starts working on me not even telling me what she's doing and I’m getting kinda scared. It feels like I’ve been here for an hour, but it’s only been about thirty minutes when she tells me I can look at myself now. I stand up and look in the mirror and my mouth fall to the floor. I never really saw myself like this. She curled my hair in tight curls and then combed through them.  Next, she started with a light pink eyeshadow mixed with a few browns and golds with a light pink lipstick. My dress is black pink and gold, so I look drop-dead gorgeous, and I feel good about myself. I look at Aphrodite “I didn’t know I could look this good; I can’t do my makeup this good I wish I could, but all things just take practice.” I say and she smiles “Well if you like I could teach you and let me get ready and you can ride with me.” She says and I smile and wait for Aphrodite to get done. I’m looking around and I see a picture of everyone I used to hang out with, and I smile at the memories that come flooding back. Those times were a lot better for me than it was before I was forced to take on some of my mothers’ duties. I have never had as much fun as I did back then. I’m brought out of my thoughts by Aphrodite coming into the room. I turn around and I have tears in my eyes.  “This is why I didn’t want to help your parent’s sweetheart.” She says and hugs me, but I do not let the tears fall because I don’t want to mess up Aphrodite’s masterpiece. I look up at her and smile “thank you Aphrodite at least I know I have someone I can trust.” I say and she smiles “that’s why I never wanted anything to do with bringing you home.” She says, “now let’s go and stir up some trouble in Olympus,” she says with a mischievous smile.
