When I brought up divorce to Magnus Rowe again, he still hadn't come down from his high.

His fingers lazily traced the red marks on the body beneath him as he said, "Elara, do you think the beauty mark on her body looks good? Especially when she's emotional. It's absolutely irresistible."

After speaking, he waited for me to break down hysterically like I always had before. But it was as if I hadn't heard a thing. I simply flipped the divorce agreement to the page about property division.

"Everything you gave me, I'll return to you. I'll leave on my own."

Magnus' hand paused for a moment before he spoke again, as if nothing had happened. "Then can you give back the heart I gave you too? Baby, stop making a scene. You know you're the only one in my heart. Be good and wait for me at home."

I ignored him and stubbornly handed the divorce papers over. I stopped wanting his heart a long time ago.

The only thing I want now... is freedom.

Chapter 1
When I brought up divorce to Magnus Rowe again, he still hadn't come down from his high. His fingers lazily traced the red marks on the body beneath him as he said, "Elara, do you think the beauty mark on her body looks good? Especially when she's emotional. It's absolutely irresistible." After speaking, he waited for me to break down hysterically like I always had before. But it was as if I hadn't heard a thing. I simply flipped the divorce agreement to the page about property division. "Everything you gave me, I'll return to you. I'll leave on my own." Magnus' hand paused for a moment before he spoke again, as if nothing had happened. "Then can you give back the heart I gave you too? Baby, stop making a scene. You know you're the only one in my heart. Be good and wait for me at home." I ignored him and stubbornly handed the divorce papers over. I stopped wanting his heart a long time ago. The only thing I want now... is freedom. Magnus raised an eyebrow, the warmth from the woman’s waist still lingering on his fingertips. He didn’t push her away. Instead, he looked at me with a helpless expression that was almost indulgent. As if he were looking at a child throwing a tantrum. "So you’re making a scene this big this time, Mrs. Rowe?" He slowly pulled out a tissue and wiped his fingers. "You don’t even want the assets anymore? Are you trying to force me out with nothing?" "I don’t want your things," I repeated calmly, "The cars, the houses, the shares, everything under your name that was transferred to me. I have already signed the waiver forms." He froze for two seconds before laughing out loud. There was the usual carelessness in that laugh, but also a trace of panic that was difficult to detect. "You don’t want any of it?" he repeated. "Then what do you want? Do you want me to stay faithful to you? Do you want me to circle around you like some obedient dog?" Finally, he pushed the woman away. She let out an unhappy whimper, but one glance from him frightened her enough to hide under the blanket. "Elara, I have already told you..." He stood up and walked toward me completely naked, his presence overwhelming. "I love you the most... But loving only you would be unbearably boring." He reached out to touch my face, but I tilted my head slightly to avoid him. His hand froze in midair before dropping to pat my shoulder. "Be good and go home. Tonight, I’ll cook dinner myself and make your favorite grilled steak with mashed potatoes." "There’s no need," I interrupted him. "Just sign it." I shoved the pen into his hand. Magnus finally dropped the playful expression. He stared into my eyes, trying to find even the slightest ripple of emotion. But all he saw was the unfamiliar reflection of himself. "You’re serious?" His voice lowered dangerously. "When have I ever not been serious?" I asked in return. It seemed as though he suddenly remembered something, because his expression shifted slightly. But very quickly, that confident smile returned to his face. He spread out the agreement and signed the last page without even reading it. "Elara, I don’t believe you’d really leave me. It’s signed." He pushed the papers back toward me. "Don’t forget dinner at my mother’s place tomorrow. She’s been asking about you for ages." After speaking, he turned back toward the bed and leaned down to whisper to the woman, "Don’t be scared. She doesn’t have the courage to really leave me. Let’s continue." I picked up the agreement and turned to leave. The moment the door closed behind me, I heard the woman complain sweetly, "Mr. Rowe, your wife is so scary." Magnus laughed. "She can’t live without me. It’s been seven years. She doesn’t even have a job anymore. How would she survive after leaving me?" I clenched the agreement tightly, my knuckles turning white. He had probably forgotten that, seven years ago, I was the youngest senior registered architect in Vancouver. For him, I had personally abandoned my own career. Just as I reached the entrance, a sharp pain twisted through my stomach. The baby inside me seemed to sense my despair and wanted to leave me too. I immediately turned back and knocked on the door, begging Magnus to take me to the hospital. But only his cold laugh came from inside. "Weren’t you acting tough just now? So now you finally know how to panic? Wait there. I’m not finished yet. After I comfort this one, I’ll go comfort you." No matter how much I knocked afterward, he never responded again. Only his companion, Ophelia, came out. When she saw the blood spreading across the carpet beneath me, she smiled. "You’re a grown woman, and you wet yourself in public? Even I feel embarrassed for Mr. Rowe." “No… my baby...” Ophelia kicked my hand away on purpose, deliberately revealing the marks covering her body. "Mr. Rowe and I still haven’t had enough fun. No matter how urgent you are, you’ll have to wait your turn." Then she slammed the door shut. The heavy wooden door left a deep bloody scrape across my hand. I collapsed onto the floor and completely lost consciousness. In the end, it was a hotel employee who called an ambulance and sent me to the hospital. The baby inside me was already gone. I lay on the cold operating table, but the only thing in my heart was relief.
