Breakfast at The Lone Wolf's

1374 Words
Just when the plates were placed on the table Anna stumbled still half asleep in the kitchen, "I guess she's back!" she smiled. Sara smiled back nodding, "She spent the night in the forest. I don't know where she's going, she said it was important and she'll explain at lunch. So what do you say we go for a walk?" she proposed but Anna explained to her that if Lisa had no breakfast she would need a really big lunch in order to regain her strength. And so it was that Sara found out a few things she didn't know about wolves. She thought she knew all there was to know but she'd be wrong. maybe she had to give them one more chance. After all she missed Simon and the rest of the gang. Just because a wolf tried to force her into something she didn't really want didn't mean every wolf she'd ever meet would be like that... take lisa for example... "Where are you traveling to?" Anna asked as she cleaned up after breakfast. Sara looked at her and smiled, "Nothing, just... How is that you know so much about werewolves anyway?" she tried to cover it. "Well," Anna started lowering her eyes as she thought how to start, "You know Alex, right?" Sara nodded, she had met Anna's boyfriend a couple of times. "Okay then," Anna continued, "He is a wolf as well." she said and stopped waiting for a reaction, when Sara didn't speak she continued, "He, was attacked two years ago. Just before he came to town. Actually that's why he came to town. You see, Lisa's pack is one of the most tolerant in the country, they take in everyone that needs help. And as far as the person, wolf, behaves and doesn't break any rules they treat them like family." And so it was that they skipped the walk in the forrest and started cooking lunch for a few dozens humans, or for a small group of wolves.... As Lisa walked to his cabin she couldn't help but worry, she ate half a biscuit she took from the jar only to let it fall from her frozen fingers when his scent came to her and she looked up to see him standing at his door, like a king in his palace. 'THis is it.' she thought and tried to keep her wolf inside. She walked up the three steps and kept her eyes lowered as she introduced herself to him, "Goodmorning, again. I'm Lisa, Lisa Grey of the Old Oak Pack. I'm sorry for coming here without your permision. I , I didn't expect to find anyone here so, I have nothing to offer you as tradition demands. Please accept these earrings as a gift to your mate from me and my pack, and, as a token of gratitude for your hospitality." she held the small white-gold hoop earrings in her palm offering them to him, hoping he would accept them while keeping her wolf in check by sheer force of will. 'No mate! He's ours!' was growling her wolf as she waited for him to decide. "Well, um, nice to finally meet you ." he said and she raised her eyes for a second, stealing a glance, he seemed almost as nervous as she felt. "I'm Jake. Jake Smith. I'm a Lone wolf here, and thank you for your gift, I, I accept your gift though you didn't have to bring anything. But, please come inside, I hope you are hungry I've cooked too much to eat alone and... I don't really like eating alone." he stepped aside and waited for her to go in. Lisa felt the wolf in her trying to scent the house, to make sure there wan't another female in the house, 'He can't be interrested in us! he's older, more experienced. Now calm down before you embarass both of us!' she ordered her wolf and managed to keep her on the leash, for now at least. "I, I don't think that's a .." she tried to decline his offer but he growled playfully before dismissing her objections as if they didn't matter. "That's too bad. I hate to eat alone, and i hoped you would like to join me... Aren't you hungry after a night out? Plus, I would like to talk with you for a while. It's been far too long that i haven't met another like us... please seat down, i promise I don't bite!" he was smiling when she looked at him and when she hesitated a second too long her wolf tried to take cotrol again. 'Fine! We'll stay! Now stay down!' she told her other half and walked to the kitchen. The scents made her mouth water and as he sat on her opposite side her stomach growled loudly. "It looks like your wolf agrees with me! Now, let's eat!" he said and put the first bite in his mouth, after he started she had no more excuses she picked her fork and took a small bite of her omellete. Her next concious thought was 'WOW!' it didn't matter how hard she'd tried to keep her self civilized, the wolf's hunger after the shift always took over. She took courage when she saw Jake was eating as she was, like a really hungry wolf. When the only thing left on the table where the empty dishes and half-empty orange juice glasses she started cleaning her side of the table only to stop after his low-voiced growl. "What do you think you are doing?" he asked and she left the plates on the table, not looking at him as she tried to explain, "Um, cleaning?" and he started laughing. "Cleaning? You are my guest! Why would you be cleaning?" he asked when he could speak again. "Well, I, I do it when I am at, my Alpha's house. Eventhough i am considered a guest. it's a way to show your respect." she said and he smiled gently. "Well, thanks but this is my home so, my rules apply. No guest of mine will clean the table!" He looked at the table again and hit his forehead with his palm causing her to smile, "We just had breakfast without coffee! Who has breakfast without coffee? So, how do you like your coffee?" he asked. Lisa shrugged. 'I might even meet his mate. The girls will be in the forest by now...' she thought keeping her wolf from exploding at the mention of his mate. "Um, one sugar, lots of milk?!" she made it sound like a question and the next question was voiced without any concious decision. "So, um, will she... like my offering?" she said in a low tone. Jake just looked at her, confusion plain on his face "Who?" She felt her cheeks burning as she blurted it out, "Well, your mate off course, who else?" he just looked at her and laughed with his heart, the wolf was making himself known. "I'm sorry, oh goddess. Lisa, I just told you! I haven't met another one of our kind in almost a year! How could I possibly have a mate?" he asked and it was a valid question. But her answer was just as good. "Well, that doesn't really say anything, You could have a human mate. I know wolves who do..." she stopped when his face closed down and the wolf was there in his eyes. Lisa dropped her eyes staring at the table while praying inside for him to not lose it. 'Please, great Huntress, please don't abandon me now!' she prayed as she was thinking of what her grandmother had told her when she announced she was coming here... Oh how right she was.... "Please, think again Lisa! You are a wolf for less than a year! You an't go out there on your own!" but she had stood her ground on this, "If I can win a challenge, why can't I be trusted to spend a week away?" and that was how her Alpha came to agree... and now she was here... waiting for a Lone wolf to regain his control and decide not to kill her.... "Please Goddess help him!"
