/Tracy's POV/ I had been packing our stuffs since I arrived from claiming the property that isn't really ours and Chris...had been stuck with his computer. It was crazy the tension between us was killing us both, I could tell because of his nervousness around me. He looks terrible when he's nervous, I recall wanting him to talk after what happened between us, he did talk but it was funny. I really can't imagine him asking me if I prefer Chinese food to pizza for dinner. I shook my head and zipped up my traveling box after I had successfully packed my stuffs into it. "Tracy." I guess someone finally decided to have a conversation with me. I smirked as I headed out of my room to attend to Chris's call. "What's up?" I asked casually moving closer to him as he turned to give me an unpleasant look. "You need to see this." Why he sounded rueful about what he had to tell me was completely disturbing. Why did he sound so timid? I wondered before I moved my eyes to the screen to see my old house, the same house that was burned down by Aljendro on the screen from an old newspaper with the headline that reads. Amateur inventor committed mass suicide with his family after killing Los Angeles's biggest investor. I haven't sweated in days but that indeed had me sweating. For a minute I was dumb but decided to read further. Frederick McCarthy, the most established and successful investor in Los Angeles was murdered overnight after rejecting the proposal of an inventor who invented a device called the cyberphone. To escape prosecution, Theodore Williams killed his family and set his house on fire before he finally killed himself- "That's f*****g nonsense!" I literally fumed. My breathing was erratic and unsteady as I kept staring at the screen. I closed my eyes and punch the wall I see next to me. "My dad didn't kill anyone. He didn't kill anyone, Chris. He got home that night smiling that his proposal was accepted, dad worked years on that project. He showed that file to my mom. We didn't know what they were talking about but my parents were happy, they were very happy before Aljendro showed up." My voice was bitter and shaky as I explained. So this is how they forget my father, I was wondering why no one looked for us, but why no news of my parent's murder surfaced. So this is it. Chris stood and brought me into his arms trying to calm me down but I couldn't be calm. I needed to kill someone. I needed the smell of blood, especially of Aljendro. "Who reported this?" I asked Chris and he moved back to the screen to help me check. "A reporter named Paul, but it was followed by the reports made by a local police detective named Henry Green. He submitted the reports to them himself and even made an interview. Chris explained and he scroll up the page to reveal the picture of Henry Green. I couldn't help the laugh that escaped me like a psycho I laughed for a minute before my face turned cold. "He was there that night, he was there right next to Aljendro. I could have known. Manipulative motherfuckers." I lashed out through gritted teeth. "Hey, guys." Stacy walked in removing her jacket to show off the cropped sleeveless top she had on. I turned to Chris and gave him a face to hide it from Stacy but Stacy was the smart type. She could suspect anything, even when I'm lying. "What's up with you guys? Why are you looking like that, is something wrong?" Stacy asked as she moved to the water cooler to get herself some water. "Something is going on isn't it?" Stacy asked immediately she laid down the cup she used to get the water as still met Chris and my despondent faces. "Your hand it's bleeding." Stacy pointed running to me immediately she noticed the blood dripping from my hand. "I'm fine. You'll later get to find out so I guess I should tell you now. Stacy, have you ever wondered we weren't on the missing list or why our dad's murder was never investigated since we'd always look online for it?" I asked and Stacy narrowed her brows at me in suspicion. "Yeah, a couple of times why?" She asked still maintaining her intense gaze. "Because he was accused of murder." Stacy instantly furrowed her brows at me. "What are you talking about?" She queried looking somewhat confused. Chris sighed and brought back the old newspaper he'd come across while researching on Aljendro. Stacy moved to the screen and glance through and at the way her jaw clenched and her fist balled. Stacy didn't say a word instead he turned and head inside. "I think she's gonna do something dangerous." Chris pointed and I sighed moving to lock the door because I know my sister, I might be cruel but she's heartless when she's furious. Stacy moved out of the room with a long leather coat and a face mask and a piano case that I know contains a snipers rifle. "You have to calm down- "I can't wait anymore Stacy, I'm done giving that sun of a b***h the chance to even breathe in the same air I'm breathing. I'm ending him at once- "Does that change what people think of our father?" my question had her going pensive for a minute. "People think our dad is a psycho that killed his family because his long life goal was thrown out of the window Stacy, have you checked those comments, the last comment on that page was last month Stacy and it reads Big Psycho lunatic, wasting innocent lives. That's what it reads Stacy, so you're just gonna go kill him. You're gonna be doing him a big favor." My voice was harsh and cold as I stared at my sister eyeball to eyeball. "So what do we do?" Stacy asked calming down but I wasn't sure. "My suggestion is gonna sound crazy and stupid but it's the only way you can clear your dad's name. The man Henry Green used to be a local police but has been promoted, he's now a police captain. A detective captain and still aiming bigger. So I say if you wanna clear your dad's name he's the shot- "So should we just abduct him and torture him to spill then?" I asked and Chris sighed before shaking his head in disagreement. "Even if he tells you, it won't change a thing and if you try to raise the case as a civilian your identity would be questioned- "What are you suggesting Chris? get to the point." I voiced timidly. "This case is 15years old girls. You have to be on the inside to revive the case and I have a sudden feeling this is linked to Aljendro. Maybe you could kill one bird at a time." Chris suggested but Stacy and I looked a little confused, no I was confused. "One of you have to become...a detective" as if on cue my sister and I shot up an eyebrow at him. "If you become a detective with your new identity you can expose Aljendro and clear your father's name at the same time." but we only stared at Chris like he was the crazy one. Of course, he was a crazy one. "I think you're forgetting something. We are a killer, assassins. You think this is a joke?- "No one can guess an assassin is a detective. It's your call guys. I say you think about." Chris cut me a shot and Stacy laughed. "And who exactly should become a detective between the two of us?" Stacy laughed and we both glanced at her. "Why are you two looking at me like that?" Stacy asked as we kept staring at her. "If anyone can be a detective you know it's you." Chris pointed and Stacy laughed. "Yeah, that's right." I agreed and Stacy gave me a shocking impression. "Are you two insane?- "Tracy can't be a detective, She's not good with people. She's not cut for it. She's got a killer's charisma but you're social. No one would suspect." Chris stated and I shot him a glare, didn't mean to take offense but that was mean. "Are you saying I'm not nice Chris?" I asked him and he sighed. "Why don't you try laughing for us to find out?" Chris implored and I frowned. "There's nothing funny, I would laugh only when there's something funny," I said rolling my eyes at him. "Should I show you a funny footage then, we can decide who's social after that," Chris suggested and I sighed as he moved over to the computer to show a video of a young guy who stole roasted chicken's lap from his younger sister's meal and kept it under a dining table but when the sister left he tried taking the meat but instead he met their dog playing with the bone. Stacy burst into laughter, which even Chris was laughing so I tried to force a laugh but it didn't work as high Chris and Stacy turned to me as I gave a bitter laugh and my face become cold again. "I never said Stacy wasn't the social one. I just said I'm also nice." I voiced after Chris and Tracy stared with a horrified expressions. "I don't care who is social Chris, there's no way I'm becoming a detective." Stacy let out sounding quite frustrated. "Do you have any other choice? Or you'll rather not clear your dad's name?" Chris asked as we stared at Stacy who seem to be stressed by the decision alone. "But how will that happen? How on earth is it possible for me to become a detective overnight?" She turned to Chris and I did so because it sounds absurd and impossible, to be frank. "You can leave that to me," Chris smirked and I exchanged confused gazes with Stacy. /Xavier's POV/ I got home for a brief change, though I had planned to go back to my apartment but my plans with Crystal were bound to delay me. Getting into a back and white sports shirt, I complemented it with a black chinos pants and brogue shoes. I styled my hair before grabbing my car keys and moving downstairs but made sure to lock my door. I met my mom downstairs watching a horror movie but she doesn't seem to be affected by the scenes. "Mom" I called and she jolted a little I guess she was a little too distracted by the movie. "Well...I might not be coming back home tonight. I'm leaving for my apartment- "Xavier- " I know you wouldn't agree with it, mom. I know you, but I can't continue to live in your house mom. I'm 29 remember so just telling you in case I don't show up tonight. Bye, mom." I moved to her and gave her a light peck before making my way out not giving her a chance to retaliate. Not that I'll listen really because once my mind is made up. It is. I dialed Crystal's numbers immediately I was closing into her villa to make sure she was ready. I don't want to have to wait for her. Girls can take ridiculously long when dressing up. "Hello, Xav." Her voice sounded serene and I smiled at how cool she sounded over the phone. "I'm closing in, will be there in 3mins," I informed and I heard her chuckle lightly. She really does laugh a lot. I got to the front of her villa to see her waiting by the gate in a flowery high-low dress with illusion neckline and blue ballerina flats which complements the blue flowers on her dress and her blue sequined purse. She was looking simple and yet exquisite. "You look good." I grinned still scanning through her dressing, she had curled up her hair and had flowery hairpins holding them back. Wow, fashion icon. I thought as I led her to my car. "You look quite lovely too." She returned the remarks right before she got into the car. "So where are we going?" She asked as I revved my car engine to life. "How about McDaniel's royal eat-out, it's also a fun place to hang out," I suggested and she nodded coyly curling some strands of her hair on her fingers. "Nice work on the hair by the way. It looks lovely." I complimented and she flashed me her dimples again. Oh man, those dimples are a killer. Focus Xavier, I mentally scolded myself as I felt currents flying right to my groins. "So how's it going with your stepbrother?" I asked and she paled. I guess she was embarrassed to have said all those things while she was still drunk. "Xavier I'm so sorry about- "It's okay Crystal, you don't have to feel bad about it at all. I get it." I assured but she still had that guilty expression on her face. "Should I tell you a secret of mine then, maybe we'll get even then." I seem to have gotten her attention by that. "I am scared of my employees. They used to think I'm one badass CEO but anytime I was to address them. I just feel- "They might beat you up?" she asked and I smiled. "Something like that but my mom always tells me this. You being scared is a proof that you're human. Everyone has their fear so you fearing you might not be worthy of the responsibility your mom left you, is not a bad thing. But to prove you are strong, you have to work around that fear." I advised turning the car to the second route. "Thanks a lot, Xavier. You're right? I am scared but it doesn't matter but I have to work around it. I thought I actually wanted to submit my right to Curtis but now. I'm gonna take up that responsibility. I am scared but I'll face it." She grinned and I smiled back in return. It was nice hanging out with Crystal after our eating out, she asked me to go to the fair with her since she had only gone then since she was a child. Then we went for a drive. "Thank you so much Xav. I never really know who to trust. Everyone aways wants something in return for being around me Xav. You're the first genuine person I've met since I came home." Oh boy, She really can't start thinking like that when I haven't even talked to her about the merging yet. I returned Crystal back home at 8.30 pm in the evening. She was looking really happy and I didn't wanna ruin that but I know if I don't tell her, I might never really get to tell he again. "Crystal," I called back right before she got to her gateway. "I know you might think I was hanging around you because I wanted to ask you something." I moved closer such that we were only a few inches apart. "But...today had been one of the best days of my life. I've never felt that free before Crystal, I feel free when I'm around you and I like you Crystal but it has nothing to do with the business proposal I brought for you." the smile on Crystal's face disappeared immediately. "I swear I didn't approach you for it. I was gonna ask you later when our company officially sends- "What business proposal?" She asked her smile long gone. "Company Marge."Crystal stepped away from me on that. "You have to believe me Crystal it has nothing to do with what we had or me approaching you- "Really? You really want me to believe that?- "Crystal- "You're all the same. I had a feeling you want something in return because you rejected me once remember? But I was stupid enough to trust you- "Crystal I promise you it's nothing related. I just hang out with you as any friends would- "Friends? I don't recall us ever being friends with you until yesterday. You're just like them." She spat and made her way in. I messed up, maybe I could have waited a little more before telling her. I heaved a heavy sigh and drive back to my apartment. My heart weighed tons as I headed back home just leaving her like that. Maybe I should have put in more effort in convincing her. I felt like s**t. I arrived at the skyscraper apartment building I used to live in and headed for the elevator. I needed a drink. I can't believe I hurt her. My dad was right. I was too confident. Convincing Crystal wasn't gonna be easy now my conscience is involved in this business mess. I moved over to my mini fridge and immediately I switched on the lights. No matter how much I drink I still couldn't get her pained face off my head. I've dealt with woman's drama in the past but this was just terrible. I was starting to feel drowsy so I lay on my couch. My phone rang and I picked it up, it was Austin. Thankfully I could pour my heart out to my best friend. I couldn't keep track of what I was saying but I thought I was explaining my situation to him. The only question I heard him ask was...are you drunk? And that was the last thing I heard until I dozed off. I woke up feeling the worst headache I've ever felt in my life. My head weighed a zillion. I stood sluggishly and walked to my fridge to grab a bottle of water. At least to keep me awake. I took some painkillers and started to pick on the cans of sodas littered on the floor. My doorbell rang and I had to drop them to answer the bell. I started to fix my flown shirt before opening the door to let Austin in. "Hey man what's up?" I asked but he was merely looking at me in nervousness. "What's wrong-. " You know what's wrong! When you told me you hurt Crystal I never thought it was something as huge as this Xavier!" Austin was literally trembling and I wondered what exactly was going on in his head. "I'll try and fix it- "Fix what? Fix what exactly Xav, we are doomed." Austin declared and I furrowed my brows at him in confusion. "Look I know Crystal was hurt but I can fix it- "Are you crazy Xavier? How did you expect to fix something with a dead person!" Okay, that got me. "What are you talking about?" my brows instantly furrowed at him in question. "You...you don't know?" Austin asked and I sighed. "What's this game you're playing with me Austin?" I queried and he moved over to my large TV. He turned it on and the first ever thing was a lemon green cross limit in front of Crystal's Villa and a reporter in front with some police officers trying to get something out. It was Crystal in a body bad. My shoulders sagged and my jaw dropped. What the f**k? "You...you didn't know?" Austin asked and I gave him a bewildered look. "Of course not," I replied almost immediately. "I...I thought when you told me you hurt her... You- "What?! When did I even say that?" my response was interrupted by the sound of the bells. I sighed and moved to have the door open. There were about four policemen in front of me and another guy who wasn't in a police uniform. Holy s**t! --------------
