##Chapter 23 Confrontation

1060 Words
Wayne sent me home directly. I took off the coat he gave me and sniffed it carefully. His scent was left on the coat. It occurred to me the conversation when we were in the car. I had a weird feeling in my heart as soon as thinking of him. However, tranquility was not a word to describe my life. Wayne was right. The news that he got outraged because of a stripper last night had spread around. When I just stepped into the gate of Paradise Lost, several girls came up and gossiped. I felt annoyed by their questions. They had been thinking about how to hook up with a rich and powerful man. Seeing I was favored by Wayne, they might play some dirty tricks behind my back. "What are you doing here? Don't you wanna work anymore?" Anna's voice came up. People surrounding me glanced at Anna unhappily and then left. Only Amy was there. Anna walked toward me. She threw her eyes on those girls, and then she asked me, "Are you making it seriously with Mr. Wayne?" I forced a smile. I admitted that Wayne was indeed charming, but we were from two different worlds, even if Wayne had a fragile heart. "Anna, don't overthink. He is Mr. Wayne. I'm no more than a pawn for him. Don't take it seriously." Anna took a deep sigh, "Then I'll be relieved. You'll never know whether he is taking you seriously or not. You'll be the one who suffers everything. He hurt numerous women, and I don't want you to be one of them." Hearing what Anna said to me, I was deeply moved. I didn't have any blood relation with Anna, but she treated me as her daughter. "Don't worry about me. I know how far to go," I said with a smile. Anna finally relieved, "Good girl. I'm afraid you will get deeper in the relationship like others do." Anna said some other words to me and left. I looked at Amy standing beside me, "What's wrong? Do you have anything to tell me?" She looked at me with a complicated face. I felt strange about her expression, "What happened? Do you have any difficulties?" I was clear about Amy's situation. We were in the same boat, so basically, I would help her even though I didn't agree with some of her ways of doing things. "How... how do you start with Mr. Wayne?" Amy finally asked. I was stupefied, "Amy, what do you mean?" Amy didn't answer. She stared at my face until I felt embarrassed. She shook her head, "Forget it. As long as you are happy, that's good." I looked at the view of her back, feeling confused. I had my makeup done and my dress changed. And when I was ready to go up onto the stage, some men in black blocked my way. "Ms. Brown, please go with us," one of them said without any expression. "What do you want?" I was terrified. Who were those guys? Why did they know my real name? Did Wayne send them? "Ms. Brown, please cooperate with us. Otherwise, we will be rude." "What's going on? Jo Jo, what's wrong?" Anna came over. She was like a savior. My eyes lit up, and I shouted, "Anna, they don't let me go to the stage!" Anna had been around a lot. She walked toward me, stood in front of me, and looked the two men up and down. Then she asked, "Who are you? You are in Paradise Lost. You guys wanna mess up here? Do you have any idea who's the boss here?" The boss of Paradise Lost wasn't a big shot, but anyone who could operate a nightclub in such a gold section must have some background. And the guests were almost some distinguished people in Garol. Common people wouldn't make trouble there. "We work for the Fox family. Someone wants to meet Ms. Brown," said the man. Anna was dumbfounded. I was also startled. They worked for the Fox family, but not Wayne. It was not Wayne who wanted to meet me. "Fox family? Which one?" Anna asked while knowing the answer. "How many Fox families do you know in Garol? We just want to take Ms. Brown to a place, and we won't embarrass her," his tone was as steady as a robot. Anna stopped asking. The two men pushed her away and picked me up on both of my sides. Anna kept calling my name behind me. I was anxious. It was clear that they came to me because of the thing related to Vincent last night. I was not sure if Wayne could save me this time. If Vincent or Leopard got me, things would definitely go bad. However, to my surprise, it was neither Vincent nor Leopard, but Mrs. Fox. The two bodyguards escorted me along the way to Mrs. Fox. Seeing her graceful look as well as the gorgeous house, I sighed with relief. Mrs. Fox was a woman, and I guessed she wouldn't do evil to me. Mrs. Fox was drinking wine. She didn't even glance at me when I was sent to her. She swayed the glass and had sips of wine. She kept it in her mouth and tasted it carefully. After swallowing, she turned around and looked at me. "Mrs... Mrs. Fox," I greeted her tensely. Mrs. Fox put down the glass and smiled at me, "How should I call you? Jo Jo or Ms. Brown?" "Jo Jo is fine. I don't really enjoy others calling my name," I said to her. Mrs. Fox took charge of the shares of Fox Group, and her behaviors looked indeed like nobility. I just couldn't imagine that she had something to do with Leopard. "All right. Jo Jo... That's a good name. No wonder Wayney is deeply enchanted by you." I froze a while, and I realized she was talking about Wayne. Such a lovely nickname made me want to laugh. "Mrs. Fox, I'm so flattered. Mr. Wayne treats me just as a friend." "Just friend?" she said. It seemed that Mrs. Fox had heard something ridiculous, "It's not the first time Vince grabs Wayney's girl. They are brothers. They share the same taste. But... it's the first time Wayney put a gun on Vince's head."
