One night, Emma was leaving a restaurant but then it started to rain very heavily. She ran towards the car. When she got in, the car wasn’t starting. She tried to call someone for help but there was no signal. She got out of to look for someone to help her.
After some time, a black car stopped by and rolled down the window. There was a guy inside the car.
“What happened?” the guy asked.
“My car isn’t starting and I have no signal in my phone so can you help me somehow?” Emma replied.
“Sure, let me take a look at the car”
“Ok”
That guy started to fix the car. While he was doing that, Emma held the umbrella and stood beside him so he won't get wet. After he was done, Emma said “Thank you so much for helping me. I will pay you back however I can”
“There is no need for that”
A few days later, three of Emma's friends Hailey, Adison and Maria took her to a bar. They said there is a handsome guy who
comes to perform there every Saturday night.
When they arrived there the host was about to welcome that guy to the stage “Now welcome our favorite singer, OLIVERR!” the host announced.
“I am so exited!” Adison squealed.
“What is so special about him?” Emma asked, raising her brows.
“Like everything. He is a great singer and handsome.” Maria replied.
“Totally!” Hailey
Oliver came on stage and started to play guitar. Emma turned around and was surprised to see that he was the guy who had helped her a few days ago.
After he was done, Emma told her friends to wait and she followed Oliver to the parking lot. She called his name. Oliver stopped and turned around and was shocked to see her there.
“Hey, what are you doing here?”
“I came here with some of my friends. So do you work here?” she said.
“Kind of” he replied.
“Kind of?” Emma asked, not sure what it meant.
“Well, I don’t have a mother and my father doesn't know about it because he is really strict and wanted me to take over his place as the assistant of a rich businessman. He somehow convinced him to take me as his next personal assistant after my father” Oliver explained.
“I understand” Emma said, not sure what to say to him.
“I don’t think you would understand the feeling of getting forced into something you don’t like or want to do.”
“I actually know that feeling very well because I grew up with really strict parents”
“Really?”
“Yeah, but I ran away when I was 13. By the way you should talk to you father about your dream”
“He will not listen; he will only get angry. That’s all” Oliver said.
“You have a beautiful voice and the world deserves to listen to it” Emma complimented.
“You think so?”
“Yes”
“By the way, you already know my name so can I know yours too?” Oliver asked.
“Well, sure. My name is Emma”
“Can I have your number?” Oliver asked.
“Sure”
They exchanged numbers “So, I will leave now. I will text you later”
“Ok, bye” they shook hands.
“And text me when you get home” Oliver said.
“Don’t worry. I will”
“Ok, now bye” Oliver said before turning around. They both went their separate ways.
When Emma went back to her friends. Hailey asked “Where have you been?”
“Is it really something to ask? Of course she went after Oliver. She also fell in love with him in the first sight” Maria said,
dramatically.
“Do you love him?” Lia asked, coming close to her.
“Shut up guys its nothing like that. I just went to thank him for helping me few days ago when my car stopped working”
“If you say so” Hailey teased.
“Come now, let’s go” Emma said
They left and when Emma reached home, she texted Oliver. They planned to meet at an amusement park on next Sunday. She told all this to Lucas but he started to tease her too.
Time flew and Sunday came. She went to the location where they planned to meet.
They played, had fun and talked so much and when it was about to get night they went home. They started to meet often and became really good friends after some time.
1 year later
Emma started to have feelings for Oliver but she didn’t say anything to him because she didn’t want to ruin their friendship. When she told Lucas about it, he suggested that she should tell him.
Then one day, she was sitting on a bench in a garden, Oliver came there with two ice-creams, gave one to Emma and sat down beside her.
“You look pretty lost. Is something wrong?” he asked.
“No, everything is fine. I was just thinking something” Emma replied.
“What are you thinking?” he asked.
“Nothing special, just something about work” she lied. She didn’t want to tell him that she was thinking about how to confess her love to him.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah”
“Fine then”
“Actually there is something I need to tell you” Emma decides.
“What?”
But before she could say anything else, a ball came flying and almost hit her on the head. Few children came running after the ball and apologized, then ran away with the ball.
“Are you okay?” Oliver asked, concerned about her.
“Yeah, I am fine” Emma assured.
“You were about to say something?” Oliver reminds her.
“leave it, it’s nothing important”
“That is not fair! Now I am curious about it. You have to tell me” Oliver pouted.
“No! I am not telling” She laughed at his childishness.
“Why?” he whined.
“Fine… I will tell you later”
“You promise?”
“I promise”
Later that day, when Emma was having dinner with Lydia, Emma told Lydia about her big crush on Oliver. Lydia suggested that she should confess her love to him.
“But what if he doesn’t like me back and our friendship gets ruined”
“You should just listen to your heart” Lydia suggested.
The next day, she met Oliver in a restaurant.
“Hey” Emma called.
“Hey! How are you doing?”
“Fine as always and you?”
“Same. You said you wanted to tell me something. What was it?”
“Well… I know that we are best friends but I …”
Before she could complete the waiter came to their table to take order. After the waiter left, Oliver asked her “What is it that you wanted to tell me?”
“Alright, I am not going to waste any more time” Emma whispered to herself “So I've been meaning to tell you that.... um... I.. I love you and not just as a friend”
“What?” Oliver asked, his eyes wide open.
“It’s okay if you don’t like me and only see me as a friend, we can stay like that, right?” Emma started.
Hearing that, he started to laugh “No, it’s not like that” He calmed down then continued “I love you too, and not just as a friend”
“What?” Emma asked, in surprise, as she was not expecting this.
“Yeah, for a while now and I didn’t know how to tell you”
“Why would you like me?” Emma asked.
“I have million reasons” Oliver replied.
“List some of them” Emma put her elbows on the table.
“You want to hear your parses?” Oliver asked with a smirk.
“I’m just curious” Emma laid back, her arms crossed.
“Fine. I love you because you are smart and strong woman. You support my dreams where as my father hates it. I feel good whenever I am around you”
They started to date and had a healthy relation.
1 year passed by,
It was the 14th of February; Oliver went to a flower shop to buy some flower. After that, he went to a jewelry shop to buy a necklace and a ring. And then he met with Emma in the same restaurant where they first met.
Oliver handed the flowers to Emma “Happy valentine’s day”
“These flowers are so beautiful” she smiled taking the flowers close to her face to smell them.
“This is not all” Oliver smiled and took out the necklace from the small bag.
“Wow! This is so pretty” Emma exclaimed.
Oliver took the necklace from her hands and put it on her.
After that, they ordered food and while they were waiting for food, Oliver excused himself to go to the men’s room. When he made sure no one else was there, he dialed someone’s number and told that he will propose her in evening and said something about succeeding the plan. Lucas heard all of his talks.
He had come along with Emma without telling her because he was bored and Emma wasn’t taking him with her because it was her date. And since Emma could see him, he was hiding from her and keeping an eye on her too.
When Oliver got out, Lucas went after him. Emma saw him but tried to ignore him. Lucas told her what he had heard even though she was pretending not to listen to him but his words started to disturb her.
She starting to think that if she really didn’t know Oliver. Then she thought about the beautiful times she had spent with him and put Lucas’ words a side.
After they finished their meal, they went for a walk. Lucas kept following them quietly.
Then it was afternoon. The sun was setting and the wind was blowing. On a bridge, above the lake, Oliver stopped and got down on one knee. Emma turned around and saw that Oliver was holding a ring.
“Will you make me the luckiest guy in the world by marring me?”
As she was about to yes, Lucas’s words came to her mind and asked him if she could answer tomorrow. “As much time as you want” Oliver replied.
Oliver then got a call from his dad. He told him to come home so he walked towards his car with Emma. Oliver’s car was not working and Oliver couldn’t seem to figure out the problem so Emma gave him a ride home. It was not the first time that Emma had seen his house.
His house was not so big and Emma had visited his house a few times when his father wasn’t home. When he got off, Emma drove off. Lucas had started to doubt that guy.
“Hey! Let’s keep an eye on Oliver” Lucas suggested.
“Why?” Emma asked.
“You know, the conversation I heard”
“It must be something else” Emma insisted.
“Hey, you told me that he was perfect guy. Like he is very talented and so nice that you have never seen him do anything bad. Just imagine how could someone be that perfect. I am telling you something is wrong. We should at least checkup on him” Lucas pointed out.
Emma started to have doubts on her decisions about trusting Oliver. She turned the car around.
She trusted Oliver with all her heart and if he betrayed her she might never be able to trust anyone in her life.
She stopped the car at a distance from his house. The door was closed, so Lucas went through the wall and opened the door for Emma. All the lights were off at the house.
They saw light coming from a room. They went a little near and peaked through the door. They saw Oliver removing the carpet.
There was a secret path under it. As Oliver went in it and Lucas and Emma followed them.
They walked for about half an hour. When they got out of that secret tunnel, they found themselves in a big mansion. They followed Oliver. They saw that he was talking to some man in a room.
“Why are you late?” the man asked. He had a cold tone to his voice.
“My car was not working and I couldn’t figure out what was wrong, so I left it in the garage and Emma dropped me off at home” Oliver informed.
“Okay then, how are things with that girl?” the man asked.
“Everything is going great. She isn’t suspecting a single thing. Today I proposed her, but she said she will give me the answer tomorrow” Oliver explained.
“What do you mean tomorrow? Does she even love you?”
“Don’t worry. She is a naive girl. It’s not that hard to fool her”
“But still be careful if we want our plan to succeed” the man warned.
“Yes, dad” Oliver said.
